Kiosk ordering
Caitlin D.

3-4 stars. This spot was so cute in the middle of Little Tokyo, I believe. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. You walk in and order at one of the two kiosks. Remember the number on the screen as they will call that number out when your drink is ready. At the time, there was only one worker making the drinks. He did a good job getting the drinks out in a timely manner. This day, in-front of the shop they were selling "photo cards" of Ateez and other groups. I thought it was so cute as an Atiny who was going to the concert Day 2!! Anyways, I ordered the ~$6.75, Medium Size, Earl Grey Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Boba, 50% sweet, light ice. I have had Earl grey tea elsewhere and really enjoyed this flavor, although at Gong Cha -- I did not like it at all! Tasted worse than water, not sweet, and the boba wasn't the best. It was not good...sad because I paid for this. ($6.75 + boba so about 75-80 cents = ~$7.55 ish). I've had other drinks at Gong Cha that I loved, I guess I just ordered the wrong thing. Also, I'm not that well accustomed to using a kiosk to order and my friend said I tipped them which is why my order cost nearly $8- something. The medium cup was actually on the smaller side, so I don't think it was worth the price. Anyways, as always it's up to you to give it a go. They have large menu with multiple options. Something for everyone, I recommend 75% sweet or regular sweetness.

This Gong Cha is just your run-of-the-mill milk tea spot, conveniently located in Little Tokyo. I ordered the Thai tea and my friend got the peach green tea. My Thai tea was alright, nice and sweet, but I wish it was stronger, as the milk flavor overpowered the tea itself. The peach tea was so refreshing and sweet. This is a decent spot to grab a quick tea, but there are many similar ones in the area.

I love getting winter melon milk tea from here. It was very well made so I got 2 more on my way back. In case you haven't tried winter melon tea. Give it a try! Gong cha makes it the best. So refreshing!!!

Strawberry matcha in snowman cup

We had a strawberry matcha & a Panda milk tea. The service was great as The guy behind the counter was nice and made the strawberry matcha for me even though they did not have it on the menu. It was super sweet. Then I realized it was probably not a strawberry matcha latte because he never asked what kind of milk I wanted. So it must have been a matcha tea? Anyway, they have some cute snowmen cups right now.

Always wondered what the hype was. It's just typical mid boba. Mid milk tea and mid kinda hard boba. And mid grapefruit smoothie. Like nothing wrong and nothing good. Also just boba vibes so nothing really cute

Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3J

Gong Cha used to be one of my favorite places for Milk Tea drinks. I used to go to the one in Irvine and wait in their line because it was that good. This location is located in Little Tokyo of Los Angeles. It's a decent sized shop with a little seating area. Came here to get an Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3 J (pudding, grass jelly & boba). You can order at the kiosk and wait for your drink number to be called. Sadly the drink was not very good. The boba was hard and old, the milk tea had no density or depth to it as the other locations do. Maybe it's just this location since it was my first time at this location. But either way it was not that great and I always feel like a simple milk tea is a good gauge for other drinks, or maybe not. Maybe it was just one bad day. But the drink was not very good. I was wondering why it was very dead inside and other places around were pretty busy but I just wanted to stick to the brand I knew about.

I was craving some boba and decided to get one at Gong Cha. I have had Gong Cha in different stores, also in different countries. For this location in Little Tokyo, I got to say it is very sweet. I did 50% sugar and really felt the strong sweetness. Boba was small and a little on the stiff side. Ordered triple jelly, nothing too spectacular. Store was a little understaffed. Saw one employee running back and forth. However, I appreciated that they were considerate of the wait time.

I LOVE what the stop does for the anime/gaming community as it holds a good chunk of the fan cup sleeve events such as the Doki Bird one and another upcoming Vtuber one. I believe that the Moogle mascot was at this location for the FFIVX collab as well. As it's a franchise, you can also always order online, but there are tables and seats inside too. It's a narrow space towards the end, but it's neat that you can decorate with the paint pens too. They work quite efficiently here. But I think my biggest gripe is the two times that I've gotten drinks here, ordering them at 0% and 30% sweet, they were immensely scathingly sweet. Something that I would have expected from a drink that is 100 or 120% sweet. Both times I had to balance the drink with water or bring it home to dilute with water afterwards. I know that they always say if there is something wrong with the drink, just let the staff know, but many of the times we're at a loading area grabbing the drinks to go ASAP and to not hold up traffic or we're already back at our cars ready to drive the hell outta dodge (DTLA) and we don't know until then. Sucks, but I can at least say kudos to this location for what they do for the community.

I was really hoping to see the face of Felix Sunshine when I entered, but there was nothing about him! I hope soon they can get all caught up. Experience would've been a lot better tbh. There was no staff present when I walked in. She was at the back (there was a curtain) plus there were no customers. She said hi when she came out. I noticed the "B" rating on the wall and was not impressed. But, ok. Used the kiosk to order. There were 2 of them side by side. Order came quick. Boba was as I had expected--meaning it was actually good = better than the very common boba place we see around. (I've tried many good ones and I've also had a few very good ones--taste, presentation, service, ambiance). Gong Cha uses paper straws-- not my fave texture, but I know: better for environment. A lot of ppl came in afterwards. There were enough seats and tables, but most ordered take out. Tables and chairs looked clean, general area looked clean. I parked at the structure adjacent to Gong Cha. Parking was $15 for the 50 or so minutes I walked around there. (Went across the street to get some snacks). That is also the maximum they charge at this parking, so I'd probably just walk around some more next time to enjoy Little Tokyo. Due to the recent events in DTLA, many shops were boarded up and Gong Cha is too. However, I was not any more cautious than the usual caution I exercise when I'm in DTLA. Some Stay already left their mark at this shop to my delight. I wrote OT8 with a heart, but forgot to take a photo!

I used to think most of the milk tea/boba shops are pretty much the same, but my kids have a strong preference for Gong Cha. I came with them and felt indeed there is something special. I tried their Passion Fruit Green Tea and loved it! The green tea has a special fragrance unique to the Taiwanese high mountain teas! We also tried their coffee and it was great - at par with Starbucks and Peet's. I also like the fact that they have many non-caffeinated options, like double peach milk shakes. The store is kinda small and right in the middle of the busiest area of Little Tokyo. So expect to stand in like if you come during popular hours like weekends. But ordering is self service. At this writing they have a promotion going on for Final Fantasy so if you're a fan, check it out!

5 stars cause of the guy working! You order at a kiosk but he was quick to offer to help if needed. i had a little mix up with my drink and he was so apologetic and quick to fix my order. Gong Cha is always consistently good. Cant go wrong here

Forgot the last time I was here but had a reason to come back after they announced their FFXIV collab keychains and in game mount code! I really only wanted the keychains so we went on Day 2 right after work, thinking it would be sold out by then but surprisingly wasn't! It was very busy when we got there though. Took us 1.5 hrs to get there through LA traffic and it was tough because they close early on weekdays, 8pm! Found parking easily at our usual structure and rushed over. Line was basically almost out the door but luckily they were poppin out drinks pretty quick and had kiosks to help with the orders. I was surprised how calm and happy the workers were with this rush and event!! Kudos to them for sure. So many people hopping in and out of lines as well to either get their keychains/codes after placing their order or just asking questions on rewards because they were unclear. I didn't even realize you only get a reward after 3 drinks. So I ordered my 3 drinks thinking I could get 1 of each keychain but it's only 1 every 3... I got my 1 and immediately ordered another 3. My first set of drinks came out and I waited some more. Second number got called and they handed me my bag. I already got my keychains so I didn't even think to check my drinks... I got home and my second set of drinks were the wrong drinks. They called out the right number and even looked at my receipt but still handed me the wrong bag lol. They ended up giving me the order ahead of me instead. RIP. They were drinkable at least but I kind of really wanted the other drinks I ordered. Oh well. Overall a successful trip, boba and drinks are delicious which is great! Will definitely be coming back to this boba shop whenever we're in the area because it's hard to come by a good one out in this area. IG: @ammysalamii

I stumbled across their Yelp page when I was visiting from out of town and checked the Instagram for their hours on a Saturday afternoon and was happy to see they were open! I am a sucker for pop-up coffee shop/cart concepts so I had to check it out. The pop-up is easy to find, it's outside facing into the parking lot, and they had a cute A-frame sign out by the street side. There was no line, and I ordered and sat down at one of the tables out front. The service was so warm, and I believe the shop is owned and operated by one man on his own! He was an absolute delight to meet, and he brought my matcha latte to me at the table when it was prepared. He suggested I get the cream top on it, and boy was that the perfect recommendation. I would say I'm a little bit of a matcha fiend... I think I got a matcha latte at 3 different places this day... and this one far surpassed the others. I think it was one of the best matcha lattes I have ever drank to-date. It was perfectly green, the matcha quality was phenomenal, both taste and look-wise. The texture was just right, perfectly creamy with barely any grittiness. The cream top only added to the drink, and didn't take away from the matcha flavor at all, which I feel like has happened at other places for me. I'm dreaming of this matcha latte days later, and need to go back to Kokoro No Coffee as soon as I am in town again. This was a spectacular find, and I hope this spot gets all the love it deserves! There is truly nothing like a great business ran by a great person and you can tell there's so much intention put into this concept. Highly, highly recommend and I could not sing praises more!

It was pretty busy for late afternoon but I took it as a good sign. My sister has been a bunch of times before and really wanted me to try their cream top but I don't drink coffee and they apparently stopped allowing modifications to their drinks so you can no longer add the cream top to the matcha latte. She got the cream top coffee and I got the matcha latte so I could sip the top of hers and drink mine and it was honestly so so good. I have no idea how they make their cream top but it's unlike any other I've tried. The matcha itself was also very smooth and great quality. I get the Japandi minimalist design aesthetic but a lot of people would love to just sit down and drink their spendy beverage and there's just not enough seats for all the customers. I would suggest adding more benches along the North wall which is an entirely usable space as well as adding another counter along the window with barstools. For this, I have to give the ambiance 2 stars. I'd still come back for the exceptional matcha latte though!

Parking can be validated if you park in their parking garage on the opposite end of their building, not the one across the street (we didn't know which one until the worker told us) You take an elevator upstairs and the first thing that stood out to me was the aroma and the interior. It was really high end and looked very sleek. It looked really sleep and it was nice and cool inside as well. Their decor was minimalistic which I liked and it made the space look bigger. Multiple seating indoor and outdoor! My friend and I ordered 2 matcha einspanner's and their spicy miso carbonara. We got our drinks pretty quick but had to go up to ask about our food which was sitting at the counter but we could of easily missed hearing our name being called. The matcha was the perfect sweetness to me so I give it a high rating and the Carbonara was nice and creamy and included bacon bits but I didn't really taste any spice.
