I came here on a Saturday morning and the place was very busy (a good sign!). I was with 1 friend and we were seated pretty quickly because we were only 2 people. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. My friend is a vegetarian and wanted to order an item with meat but have it removed. Our server told her she wouldn't recommend it simply bc the meat is what makes the whole meal come together and she didn't want her first experience to be a bad one. She still chose to order it and she loved it. I ordered the migas and wow I'm craving it just writing this review. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The hash browns were cooked so well and the eggs were not dry (which seems to be rare these days). I would love to come back at a later time when they're not so busy. The skillet options were my second choice!! I chose a vegetarian meal so my friend and I can share. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and the staff was very helpful. Service was fast to seat my family, despite being very busy. The staff are fast to clear tables for the next patrons. Portion sizes were adequate for the prices. There is limited acoustical noise dampers for the ambient noise; I was fortunate to sit against the wall because I wear hearing aids. The food came out hot and tasted very good. Service - 3 Stars Food - 3 Stars Chicken Fried Chicken - 4 Stars A Home Style cooking restaurant is defined by its chicken fried steaks/chicken, as far as I'm concerned. Then comes the mashed potatoes and cream-style gravy. Come on, I'm right aren't I? Ok, they've got to have good dinner rolls, too. I hear ya! Well, judged by this criteria, Good Day Cafe gets a solid passing grade! I got a large piece of chicken breast with a very tasty and non-greasy coating of batter. Not too thick nor too thin, which can be tricky. The gravy, was just the right consistency, not as thick as paste, but not as thin as soup. The mashed potatoes were thick and tasted like real potatoes, not instant. And we all know "instant" potatoes are just wrong in so many ways. I didn't get a chance to try out their rolls as they were out that day, so you'll have to let me know. My wife had the whole grain pancakes and they were thick and fluffy with a nice taste to them. They held up to the syrup well. My wife said the coffee was good. About the only thing I think that could have used improvement was the iced tea. For a really home-style cafe vibe, iced tea need to be served in large over-sized plastic glasses with crushed ice. Not in some pansy little glass that needs constant refilling. Maybe next time I come, I'll bring my own glass. All in all, a good little cafe that South Arlington/North Mansfield needs to fill a missing space in comfort food cuisine. Very very solid breakfast joint located on South Cooper St and in the same strip-mall as Istanbul Grill. Stopped there for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 11:45. The restaurant was about 30% full (no lines, people!) and we were instructed to sit anywhere we liked. We chose a booth. They also have tables and bar-tables along some of the dividers. The interior was clean and simplistic. There's a TV on 1 wall within eye-shot for those who choose not to stare at your phones or talk with your company. Our menus were delivered and a very cheerful, always smiling server came by to get our drink orders. Good coffee here. The menu is well laid-out, contains all the usual b'fast items and they server it all day. I ordered the French Toast Combo ($6.99) which came with 4 wedges of bread, 2 pieces of bacon, a sausage patty and 2 eggs prepared your way (scrambled for me please). My wife got a chicken-fajita omelet that's covered with cheese and pico. She was in a Southwestie mood I guess. I also ordered a side of hashbrowns to use as a litmus test. If the browns aren't good, I wont come back. Personal rule. The food came out within 7-10 minutes which was nice and the portions were wonderful! I also observed other plates coming out to nearby tables and they,too looked stacked. Taste was on point. My French Toast was dusted with powdered sugar and a side of soft, whipped butter was provided along with syrup. The bacon was cooked perfectly - brown and crispy and NOT dripping with grease. The sausage patty was pretty basic, about 2 inches across (possibly homemade) and had a really good flavor. The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly, in a sizable portion and tasted great. Seasoned just enough so you don't get that bland, musty potato taste. Some of the tables were not cleared/cleaned while the store wasn't too busy hence the lack of the final, awe-inspiring 5th star. Overall the food, service and pricing exceeded expectations. The menu did list a good number of omelets (big fan of em) so we'll definitely be going back. I really wanted to like this place since it was recommended by a good friend. We came Sunday around noon. The place was not packed so we sat ourselves as requested. It took about a good 10 mins before someone came over and got our drink orders. After getting our drinks, we proceeded to order our meals. Not sure if our waitress was new or what but it was obvious she didn't know the menu because she had the "deer in the headlights" look when we ordered the migas plate with chorizo and asked us to point it out in the menu. We all asked for flour tortillas that never came out even though we reminded her after getting our meal. The waitress came out at the end of the meal and apologized for no flour tortillas and said the kitchen had tried to get it out for us but couldn't get them out in time. I would have given this place 3 stars but the food was lacking in flavor. My friends and I all agreed that the chorizo was bland and the migas scramble felt like it had more tortilla than egg or chorizo. Maybe we came on an off day so I'll be back and hope to be able to up my rating with a great tasting meal! read more

The huevos rancheros are a joke. A plate with corn tortillas, eggs & a side of beans in a bowl? What???? Poor waitress didn't even know what they were. Are the owners even there anymore? They recently changed chefs and the food is now awesome. Service can be rarely spotty if they get busy as they seem to be in that awkward stage where business is picking up and not enough staff on hand for big rushes. Most days you'll be fine though. Very large array of menu items for breakfast and lunch. The eggs taste like eggs and not iron skillet. Since they replaced the chef I have yet to get anything bad from the kitchen. Good Day Cafe has one awesome name. It rhymes for crying out loud! How cool is it when an eatery is able to crank out a title that accurately describes their modus operandi as well as have a little ring to it? Well, that is about all that GDC has going for it, aside from a clean-cut decor and inviting ambiance. Oh, service here is superb. The menu is WAY too large. It was one of those overwhelming menus where everything is condensed, as to force you to squint to read the small print of the unkosher amount of offerings. With something like 50 breakfast items, a hodgepodge of appetizers, the addition of Mexican offerings, and a variety of burgers, the selection process makes your dilemma a headache. I figured I better settle on a vegetable plate, to best give y'all an accurate review of how they execute. Furthermore, I pick and chose a few specifics that weren't just veggies in order to effectively test the waters of the kitchen located inside none other than GDC. The onion rings boasted too high a crust-to-onion ratio. The crust possessed an excellent crunch factor, but the onion was almost nonexistent. The broccoli was 2 well-steamed spears, but aside from the nice whole serving, nothing was spectacular. The black eyed peas were tender, but the bacon added absolutely nothing to the normally hearty, flavorful dish; very underseasoned as a whole. The most disappointing component was the soup of the day, which was downright horrendous, not necessarily for flavor--mostly an identity crisis was present. The chicken tortilla soup was a cross between beef/vegetable, tortilla, veggie, and fagioli. There were a few pieces of bowtie pasta, a sprinkling of ground beef, chunks of broccoli and cauliflower, a tomatoey vegetable broth, a couple cubes o' chicken, and tortilla strips. And cheese. And crackers. What the heck?!?! The broth itself held a little too much salt and not enough complexity. The concept here is good, but the eatery is really spreading itself too thin. By offering excess, you are in fact offering less... The grub really does not have a focus; thus, customers cannot focus on what they are eating. Cut down, and up the quality, and I will return one day to visit my Good Day. read more

The wife and I have been here over a dozen times. The servers are always so sweet and the food is great. We like to come for breakfast. It's like a good home cooked meal. We live in Waxahachie and come all the way over here every now and then on Sunday mornings. Try to get here early. After 9-9:30am it can get kinda busy (if you worry about that like I do). With a decent review of 3.5 stars I decided to try a local place rather than go to my normal place while traveling (either Denny's or IHOP). I ordered the french toast combo with bacon and not only did it look delicious when it first arrived at my table, it was also delicious, the bacon was cooked perfectly as well. So, if you're in Arlington looking for a good place to eat breakfast with great prices Good Day is a great place to go. I'm not sure how long this place has been around but the furniture looks like it's been some time. The bathrooms are one per sex and decent. One major negative was the smokey environment. I assume its from a not very good ventilation system in the kitchen. They do offer many fried options. Food - 3 stars A positive that most people like is that they have large portions. Better than large portions are having a larger variety of options on the menu. Crepes, omelets, to fried chicken, and normal sandwiches. Great breakfast menu. Lots to choose from. My wife & I ordered the senior pancake breakfast for $6.99 and it was plenty of food. The pancake was enormous. I was considering ordering an extra with my breakfast but when my order came I decided the single pancake was enough. They also have some mexican breakfast choices. Ordered delivery from this place and got crap. Literal crap. The eggs had CHUNKS of the shell in it. Not small pieces that could have been missed and/or accidentally dropped into the egg, these were dime size pieces. And multiple pieces of it. (took video and photos just in case) Threw up for at least 2 hours after taking a few bites. BUT I should have known better being that when I opened the fruit the bananas were black and rotten. I don't know any bananas that go old and turn black in a 15 minute drive. I will never eat here again and would highly highly recommend others to avoid this place......I would starve before eating here again. If they don't care enough to remove large pieces of shell from the eggs knowing it was obvious, they won't care what they "drop" in anything else. read more
