My friends and I came here for lunch & had such a great experience! The service was great, the employees were so friendly. We ordered at the front counter an iced matcha latte, hot coffee, bottle of Good Karma wine & a few sandwiches. Love how they sell local wine/beer here! We sat at the outside patio in the back which was very peaceful and relaxing. They're dog friendly & have a water bowl & dog treats! This location's concept was what drove me to check out Good Karma, and I absolutely love the ambience inside. I get work done easily, and their menu is so well crafted. GK is unique in the way they create and advertise their menu, and I love how they do happy hour. For me, establishments that serve alcohol with standard cafe drinks are usually higher in cost, however GK's prices are fair and reasonable. My favorite drinks to get are an Iced London Fog with Oatmilk and Lavendar, a "Red Flag Season," which is a cranberry apple spice, a cold brew, and a "Basil Breeze," which is a basil based smoothie! Wow, not only is the cafe spacious, it is also quite pretty. They have an outdoor space, window space, as well as lots and lots of seating inside. The staff is quite welcoming and friendly. The mocha I had today was solid. Real chocolatey. Piña colada smoothie that my husband got was so good and refreshing. I am not sure if there were other fruits in it but in addition to coconut and pineapple, we could also taste mango and rose which is pretty amazing. The best part is they are open 7 AM to 8 PM (the hours need to be updated on Yelp but Google Maps has the correct number). Summer hours probably? As of 07/17/24, their patio is under renovation. The only reason of removing a star is because there were a couple of house flies so not sure if it is because of poor hygiene. read more

I like this place. The people who work here are very easygoing. I felt like I could've just chatted to them for a while tbh. Anyways, they're cool lol. The interior of the place is chill. There's a tree in the middle of the restaurant, which is always a green flag for me. I love the greenery too. The space is also surprisingly large. There is an area in the back with additional seating. If you walk in and see the place full, take a walk to the back before you start to panic lol. The food was pretty good. I ordered the avocado toast, and I actually liked it. The main reason why I didn't rate this place higher was because of the coffee. I just wasn't a big fan of it. Maybe I just wasn't specific enough about how I wanted it, but it just didn't taste the way it's supposed to. Even on a vacation, there's still some work to be done. There is some commentary on work culture and such to be made here but that's not what we do here. The community/peer pressure of people working around me was what I would need to be productive. I looked around the area at several coffee shops within walking distance and Good Karma seemed to be one of the few that offered enough space along with a good vibe just off pictures alone. The greenery of the entry was what really attracted me. The staff were nice and my drink came out rather quickly. For my personal taste, I will say the music was a bit on the louder side. This didn't bother me much as I could just pop in my ear buds. I ordered the Rose Oat Chai over ice. While it sounded appealing when perusing I was a little disappointed with the execution. It really came down to personal taste but It was just too sweet for me! This was where the complimentary cucumber water came in clutch though! Over the last year or two after being closed due to union busting, this place re-opened under new ownership. That's the good news. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the actual beverages are top notch. It's usually reasonably quiet and not overly crowded, though occasionally you get some people who don't seem to comprehend that they're in a shared space, but that's not the establishment's fault. Just know if you're hoping to hunker down with coffee for some peaceful work or studying, you aren't assured that. The 3 out of 5 stars is because the food is uniformly garbage and overpriced. It is scant on ingredients and flavor, and prepared hastily. An example: the "popeye" bagel which contains scrambled egg, spinach and cheese has ingredients that when put inside of the actual bagel cover about 1/3rd of the actual bagel's surface. Unlike a cafe that charges you $8 for such an item and fills it up, it seems like the goal here is to save money by providing next to no actual food. Also, and this is perhaps pedantic, but NOTHING you order with cheese will have actual melted cheese. So if you want bagel sandwiches with sliced, vaguely coldish cheese slices on top of warm ingredients, you're in luck. If they could get a grip on the food situation it would shoot up to a solid 4 1/2 stars, but it seems unlikely. So for now it's a decent neighborhood hang if you just want coffee and a not-too-lengthy stay. read more

We went back on Saturday afternoon and were really disappointed in the coffee we ordered. The staff was kind, and the remodel of the space is really nice; but, the iced hazelnut latte and iced dirty chai that we were served were weak and watery. Really have been enjoying some weekly coffees and breakfast sandwiches from Good Karma this month. Huge fan of the gobble gobble (turkey sausage breakfast sandwich), the regular bacon egg and cheese and also the Chai latte with oat milk. The french toast bagel of the month has a heavenly aroma, and the scallion cream cheese was awesome as well. Friendly service with hours ending at 5pm. The back patio is cozy with about 10 seats (a few double tables and a four person table). Got a special birthday cake latte for their opening anniversary last week which was a fun switch up. The soup, while expensive, was a good flavor (chicken noodle) and the sourdough bread it came with hit the spot. Will be back for food and drinks very soon! read more

Good Karma is a crappy name based on their former actions and how they currently operate their business. The staff is generally attentive and nice, but I stopped going in there for a couple reasons. This location is known for shutting down to bust a union that had started there. Another great coffee shop opened up, while GK been in a long shut down, a half block away and now the owner of GK puts a sandwich board sign on the corner right across from their rivals to try to pull customers. It's actually creepy. This sign is closer to their rival shop than it is to their own shop. Oh and they also play crappy white washed music- last time I was in there I heard "Hey Soul Sister" by Train... possibly the most offensive thing I have to review read more

I love this place. It's so warm and inviting, the ambience is perfect. I love that they have seat cushions available for bar stools and chairs-- so thoughtful! This place is huge. Tons of seating. I love the energy plants give me so I enjoyed sitting right at the table in front of the big window. Felt like the plants were hugging me (read this as a good thing). Free Wi-Fi was pretty stable. I had the cool as a cucumber which was really good. ThIs place is adorable. The decorations are cute and calming. Great place to do work or catch up with friends. They have a large space with plenty of room to sit. Their menu is great - tons of vegetarian and vegan options as well as other things. They serve breakfast and lunch, and also have lots of snacks available (ex. granola bars and vegan baked goods). I don't know why but I'm just not a fan of this coffee shop. I came here to get coffee and study with my friend, and there are just many other places that I prefer to do this at than here. Yes, there are many tables to do work at among other people who are also doing work, but at don't enjoy the vibes. The front is cute but the back of the shop is dingy. During my visit, the espresso machine was not working (?!) which is kind of crazy for a coffee shop when a lot of their drinks require this machine. So I couldn't get the latte I wanted, I had to stick to an iced coffee which just isn't my favorite drink. I also got "the works" salad which has chicken and bacon on it. This is one of my go-to coffee shops and one of my absolute favorite places! They have a wide selection of drinks as well as food (and great breakfast sandwiches), so there's something for everyone. What I like most about this place is that it is open late (until 10pm) whereas most coffee shops close around 6 or 7, which is too soon after work to get anything done. I also like that it is a large cafe with lots of tables. I have never had an issue finding a place to sit, which is often not the case because cafes in the city are very small. This place has an overall great vibe and it is always full of people studying, having meetings and getting work done.
