I've had good experiences at this Good Stuff Eatery location in Capitol Hill. Granted, all of my experiences have been takeout, but the quality has been good. Compared to the other Good Stuff Eatery locations within a 5 miles radius, this one had the cleanest presentation for their takeout orders. I like how the burgers were placed in grease-absorbing paper bags. Their burgers are a cut above the well known fast food burgers; and you pay for the quality. The handcut fries are delicious. I hate to write this review as Good Stuff on Capitol Hill has been my favorite burger joint in DC since it opened years ago. I dont go to this location often because I live in upper NW which feels like Rockville when having to deal with DC traffic to stop by Good Stuff and find parking. So I was really excited when I was nearby and able to find parking especially since I hadn't had a good turkey burger in a while. To my dismay, Good Stuff on Capitol Hill has completely changed their menu, dropping some of their signature burgers and adding chicken sandwiches and half smokes. I dont know whose bright idea that was but they should be fired. The recipe for even the cookies seems to have changed as well. Why would you completely overhaul a menu at a restaurant that has been a staple and in business for over a decade. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I ended up only getting the village people fries and leaving disappointed. At least they still offer their signature condiments. I really hope they dont gentrify the other locations. read more

It's been a very long time since I've eaten at Good Stuff and I must say...still good stuff! Their burgers are the perfect portion size and I love that the buns are soft. Also, big fan of the burger to bun ratio which really does make a difference. All of the toppings were fresh and overall the burger really hit the spot! I also like that their small fries are actually a small portion (perfect for one person) and that it tastes like the potatoes are freshly sliced prior to frying. It really does make a difference in quality. I'm so glad Good Stuff is still going strong and will be sure to be back this summer! read more

We've been going here for some time and I know they don't have the biggest burgers but on our last visit the prez burger was so small it looked like it was swallowed by the wrap it was in, I literally thought my husband took a chunk out of it. But of course the burger has decreased in size over the last 6 months. So sad. They increased their fries portions to try to make up for it. I don't think I'll be back at this location . Was looking for an awesome place for a burger. Decided on here. When you walk in you are surprised. It is a small area but busy. There is seating outside but no outside. Service is nothing to write home about. While staff is friendly they do not go out of their way to make the experience amazing. I had lemonade and was good. The place is in an area where there are lots of food places. There a seating upstairs and it was empty when I looked. It was such a nice day everyone wanted to be outside. Burger was good and I like the fresh fries. Would have more stars if staff were more welcoming. If they helped to make sure the customer has a good experience. They asked if I was eating here or to go. Tickets says "for here" and they put in a bag and charge you .5 cents. When questioned they said all orders are put in a bag. I wasn't expecting to have great food so close to the Capitol building, and I wasn't disappointed. The menu's essentially American diner food (burgers and fries) mixed with hot chicken southern food. There are quite a few decadent and intriguing shakes and malts on the menu as well. Everything seems fairly priced, but they don't give much in terms of quantity In terms of flavor, the burgers are about average. The chili is pretty good but it's oddly sweet. I'd pass on the chicken tenders, which are quite bland and dry. They do offer lots of sauces to offset the lack of flavor, which you serve yourself downstairs. The "good stuff" is that the food is still outstanding. The best things to order are the Prez Obama burger, rosemary and thyme fries, along with their signature Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake which is worth every penny. My fries were a bit greasy this time but I didn't mind since they were so good. Every time I'm in the DC area, it is a go-to place to visit on my trips. I've been coming here since it opened and have brought numerous people there who love the place. The bad news is that the service was horrible. Also many tables could use a good cleaning. I got the black and white milkshake and WOAH was it delicious! It was everything I wanted and needed in the moment. I feel the need to also shout out the staff, they were so kind and enthusiastic in a way that went above and beyond expectation! I went with friends at a sort of off time for meals and there was plenty of seating both inside and outside. And my friends were as impressed with their selections as me. Food was not the quickest, and took maybe 15 minutes to be ready. Upstairs there is a good amount of seating but nothing extensive or huge. There is very limited seating downstairs. I tried the farmhouse cheeseburger, which was good but not great. The burger was on the average to smaller side. I ordered mine with everything and it was good. It did not feel like 1/4 lb, likely much less than that. It was juicy and had good flavor. I definitely enjoyed it, but I don't think it is that memorable of a burger. This is THE MOST HORRIBLE place I've been to in my life. Burnt, overcooked, unmarked, cold food. They had messed up the order and I asked them to remake it. When they remade a few items they overcooked and burnt them. Cooked half the food and kept it under the counter for 30 mins which my mother could see from the upstairs section overlooking the kitchen. She told me the food had been sitting under the counter for over half an hour. A bunch of other customers were super pissed at wrong orders and horribly made food. When vacationing in Washington DC, we weren't expecting a great burger place within a 6 minute walk from Capitol Hill. However, we found Good Stuff Eatery on Yelp when searching for restaurants near Capitol Hill. Good Stuff Eatery was great for a burger, chicken sandwich, fries, milkshake place. For non-meat eaters, they also serve salads which looked very good. I had a hot chicken sandwich which was excellent. The rest of the family had burgers which they liked. We had the chili & cheese fries which came with a dallop of sour cream and chopped onions (yum). My kids had the Milky Way Malt Shake and the Salty Caramel Kiss Shake which they really liked. Service was friendly and quick. Although the restaurant was busy, we found a table during the lunch rush. When wandering Capitol Hill, I highly recommend stopping in for lunch at Good Stuff Eatery. The shakes were delicious though and the mini costs about $6. Burgers range from $11-13 for just the burger with no fries or drink included. Pretty expensive for fast food quality. Fries were very salty and some were burnt. There were a lot of sauces to dip but they all just tasted ok. Food took awhile even though they were medium busy. I really like this place. So what if I come no more than once a year at most? I don't live or work down the street, okay? But when I do . . . I get a great burger and an always solid toasted marshmallow shake. I've never been on a weekday, but lunchtime on Saturday is usually reasonable as far as crowds go (on the early side). The burger options have varied over the times I've been, but I'm always happy with what I get. At my most recent visit I enjoyed a Prez Burger cooked perfectly medium. If the noise of ordering and hussling about with trays and whatnot will spoil your lunch, upstairs is a more quite atmosphere. The choices are limitless and I like that they use names like the Obama burger, Michelle's melt, etc....I wanted the Obama burger just because of the name, but I am a picky eater. They also offer a variety of shakes (but I don't do dairy - such a boring food life). Oh, and Nashville hot chicken, salad, chili, onion rings, and turkey / veggie burgers are also on the menu In case you were wondering. NOW, the burger....I ordered the farmhouse (and I should have added the onion rings (they are so thin like strings - perfect addition). I asked for well done (but I'm not sure that's what I got), I wanted the smallest patty, I like the meat to everything else ratio to match. We walked by and it smelled good, so we decided to try it. I was with my mother in law and baby so we sat outside to make it easier. I was able to order and get the order pretty quick The chicken Cobb salad was yummy. Plenty of each expected ingredients- tasted fresh as advertised! I'm a HUGE top chef fan and was so pumped to try out another restaurant my a cheftestant. Ive been to Richard Blais The Crack Shake in Cali. So I Did order ahead during COVID season. I lucked out and got a great parking spot and was in and out very quickly. So that made me happy. I ordered a regular cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup, pickles, lettuce and a small fry and milkshake. The burger was pretty good. It was juicy and flavorful. But I think the bun steamed while it was in the bag waiting for pick up and was too soft do the burger was pretty much 1 texture and a smoosh mess towards the end. They also left out my mustard and ketchup so I was especially impressed that it wasn't all dry. But it wasn't cooked evenly through out. One side was very dry and then the other side was great. The fries were down right bad. They were greasy, limp, cold and more like frites size then longer fries. Some of them weren't overly greasy and those had ok flavor. Kind of reminded me of Thrashers. We didn't get the full in-dining experience due to COVID, but damn...that Prez Obama burger was delish! After watching Burgers, Brew and Que on the Food Network, I added Good Stuff to my list of DC eateries. The weather was perfect for a grab-and-go lunch. The milkshake was creamy, had a rich chocolate flavor, topped with a heavy whipped cream. The fried green tomato was thick and "meaty." The Village Fries tossed with fresh herbs (thyme and rosemary) added additional flavor to an otherwise 'normal' fry. The burger - JUICY! Perfect ration of burger to onions to bacon to blue cheese. This place was the pinnacle of bad service. I was in a tour group of about 35 kids total from 2 schools (neither of us were from the Northeast). Loved the trip, but this place stuck with me. I ordered a simple Greek Salad off the given menu. And waited . . . and waited. I ended up getting my salad after 50 minutes in an hour-long lunch break. The chairs were very uncomfortable in the secondary cafeteria they had set up for us. There were only single-use restrooms, one men's room, one women's room. There was always someone taking their precious time. I normally wouldn't blame such a thing on an establishment, but it was constant and the conditions of the bathroom were, to put it as nicely as I may, mediocre at best. It got so extreme that one of my pals headed off to the empty men's room from the wait. This next thing about restrooms isn't exactly this place's fault, but it was callous nonetheless. With the extreme waiting time, me and another friend of mine went to the restroom based off the sign in the mall connected to the building. We ran all the way to the end of the empty (& plain old dusty) mall, must of been a couple hundred feet before we met yet another sign and a double, industrial door that did not appear very friendly to customers. I was unsure but we both really had to go, so my friend put down the fact that we might have accidentally found an 'employee only' door and bravely walked through with me tagging behind. We ended up in this pipe area that definitely did NOT make it look like we were supposed to be there -- and another metal double door! We ended up passing through nigh on 7 doors and ran through a total of what must have been a mile throughout the whole abandoned-looking mall only to meet a locked door. I only ended up going to the bathroom when I had to speedily change clothes for Arlington. I never ended up actually doing my business as we were already late. I didn't finish my Greek salad (which, by the way, came with ZERO cheese of any sort. Isn't there usually feta or something along those lines?). The aesthetic was also trying too hard. Overall: the worst thing on the whole 4-day trip to Washington D.C., and, believe me when I say, I had a 4 hour flight delay and got to Texas at 2 am. If you want a better chance of actually receiving your order, order a burger, or BETTER YET, go somewhere else! I'll bluntly state that I recommend this place to no one.
