Great parking, friendly staff and great flavors! Even on really busy days during the summer time they still have fast efficient service. Even though there is no indoor seating like some of the other goodberrys in town they have a nice patio area that helps you to forget that you're in the middle of a busy parking lot. It must be because it is located in Cary but this franchise is NOT like the others. For years I have been going to the ones in Raleigh and when we order the frozen vanilla custard with the strawberry syrup it is then mixed really well so your first bite tastes the same as the last one. I took a picture and it shows how the strawberries are placed on top of a bottle full cup so it looks pretty. I am sure he has changed to increase his profit margin but at what cost, for one I am not returning to this location anymore. I got a cup of butter pecan and it had a good flavor and a good amount of pecans. My friend got a pint of mint chocolate chip and a pint of vanilla and a pint of banana pudding. I usually drop by their other Cary location at the corner of High House and Davis Drive, but since we were closer to this location, I decided to drop in to get some ice cream for later and a pup cup for our dog who was with me. It was around noon when we stopped by, and I was able to order right away. Two other customers came by after, so I'm sure I got there just as the day was going to pick up. There was one group seated with their ice cream behind the restaurant where it is more heavily shaded than in the front where you order. They have a wide variety of toppings to choose from, and keep in mind you can order any flavor, not just the flavor of the day or chocolate and vanilla. This time I ordered a couple of our usuals: sugar-free vanilla concrete with heath bar and banana, chocolate with chocolate chips, and the pup cup (a scoop of vanilla ice cream). Another classic favorite order is mint chocolate chip, but that'll have to wait until our next order. Their "chips" are more like fudgy chunks of chocolate that is spun into the custard - I don't know how to better describe it but believe me - it is so good! Goodberry's makes their frozen custard fresh hourly, and their vanilla recipe is simple: milk, cream, eggs, natural vanilla extract, pure cane sugar, and honey. Their smooth and creamy custard is also due to their low overrun, which is a measure of the amount of air that is incorporated into a frozen dessert during the freezing process. Most ice cream has an overrun around 40%, while Goodberry's frozen custard has an overrun below 20%. Paying for air isn't anyone's idea of a good time, so that is just another reason to go to Goodberry's - besides the fact that it is ridiculously delicious and decadent every time, no matter what your order may be. Our pupper enjoyed her treat while we were still at Goodberry's and I snuck a couple of bites from our chocolate chip jumbo size when we got home before saving it in the freezer to enjoy later, along with our SF vanilla/heath/banana concrete. They do have a lot of options of add ins , the place is popular during the summer, which brings me to my other complaint. The place has been here for over 20 years, recently noticed that they do not do enough maintenance. I went today with a friend from college and she told me their custard called concrete got the name because when you turn it upside down it doesn't fall out!
