I pulled up on Goode Co to get a 3 meat plate. The glaze on the turkey was mmmmhhhmmm good! The chicken and ribs were flavorful too and perfectly smoked. I love their green beans! I not sure what the specific name is for them, but the onions and tomatoes in the recipe makes it so tasty. The dirty rice was bussin too! This was my first time dining here and I ordered a BBQ Dinner Two Meat Plate with Czech Sausage, Beef Brisket (Loose Cut), Southwest Green Beans and White Cheddar Mac and Cheese. I was disappointed in the portion for the price. If you look at the picture it honestly wasn't a lot of food. As for the taste, the sides were the star of the show. Those green beans were flavored beautifully. You could taste the onion, garlic, bacon and tomato in each bite. I also really liked the white cheddar mac and cheese. It was simple, cheesy and wasn't doing too much with the flavors. As for the meats, I should've gotten the house cut(half loose/half lean) for the brisket instead of all loose cut because it was too much fat for me. Also the brisket was lacking in flavor and salt, I was not impressed at all. I was hoping the bbq sauce would help it which it somewhat did but the bbq sauce is not your traditional sweet bbq sauce. It was heavily tomato based. It wasn't bad but I wish there was on option for a sweet bbq sauce. Now, onto the Czech Sausage, I honestly really liked the flavor of this sausage. I'd really give this spot a 3.5- the environment is cool but the food lacked flavor. The inside has a laid back country feel with a ton of memorabilia on the walls, definitely a site to see. Service was quick and friendly. It's set up to order your plate and you walk down the line to add your sides etc. Based on the mixed reviews, we decided to just get one three meat combo to share and give it a try for ourselves. The reviews were accurate about the brisket, it was very dry and didn't have flavor. Chicken was juicy but also pretty bland. Our favorite were the pork ribs. They were juicy and very flavorful. Wish I had the recipe for the jalapeño cheddar bread, it was soo good. Mac and cheese tasted good but nothing special. We tried the pinto beans and I wasn't a huge fan, not much flavor there either. Bbq sauce is a bit tomato-y for my liking but not bad. Overall it was pretty average so if you're expecting authentic delicious TX bbq I'm not sure this is the spot. Wanted to try some new BBQ from Texas. Service: I was greeted while entering the door. Being that this was a service line establishment, the signs were little confusing to know where to go. Once, in line to order, the server for the meat was very pleasant and willing to assist with what I wanted to order. The next server was not as pleasant but was willing to assist to what I wanted to order as well. Finally, the cashier was did not greet or asking did I find everything I was looking for. The cashier was just about taking the money and not providing great customer service. Ambiance: It was setup like a big country lunchroom with several western theme and easily setup for a big party for inside or outside. The gravel walk way up to the front doors seem a little weird for me as it was a rainy day and it caused a muddy entrance. There were picnic tables and corn hole game to play as well. Food: Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons I had to give them 3 stars. The food was just okay. Again, I'm unable to find a great BBQ here in Texas. No true season on the meat and the rice needed some seasoning (at least some salt). The BBQ sauce taste more like ketchup than BBQ sauce. My opinion, I'm still waiting for some well-seasoned BBQ with a bunch of flavoring option of sauce. Overall: If you are just hungry, this would be a great place to visit. I have been a Goode Co fan for as long as well...as long as I've been a Texan and that's been a mighty long time! The food is served cafe style so you get to see what you're ordering. I only had one thing on my mind walking through those doors... Baked Potato loaded to the gills... it's at this point I feel I should mention for anyone that might read more than one of my many, many, many...ok fine... I really like food... that my reviews quite often don't actually have pics of any food. The reason being is once it's in front of me I fall on it like a pack of starving wolves. As a native Texan and BBQ critic I am embarrassed to call this bbq. I got the 2 meat plate, and just shy of $30. First of all the bbq sauce is basically heated tomato sauce (disgusting), the sides were not from scratch (maybe the potato salad amd mac&cheese was decent but the other sides looked they came out of hill country fare can. A friend came to Houston from the East coast for a business meeting and wanted something he can't get home: Texas Barbeque. On a previous visit I took him to Rudy's, so I thought we'd try Goodes. We both got 2 meat plates. I went with brisket & ribs. My buddy went with sausage and turkey. We both opted for Cole slaw and green beans. Portions were quite large. We certainly didn't leave hungry. The Cole slaw was perfect to my taste. Vinegar based rather than lots of mayonnaise. The green beans probably stayed in the steam tray too long, as they were on the soggy side. I was disappointed in the brisket. It was moist, fairly lean, but flavorless. I didn't get any sense of smoke. The ribs were "fall off the bone", but also, lacking in smoke or any bark. Tried BBQ here and while the staff was incredibly friendly and the dining area was clean, I did not enjoy the food. I ordered the turkey breast and jalapeno sausage, which was fine but the bbq tasted like flavorless tomato sauce/ketchup, and the mac and cheese was runny, undercooked, and devoid of flavor.
