Maybe th gyro I've ever had. Place is legit. Went for a late lunch and ordered the gyro plate. OMG ... huge portions! I had enough meat for 3 gyro sandwiches. I live in MN so good gyros are hard to come by ... this hit the spot!! I wish I didn't have to stop eating because I was so full. Super flavorful meat. The pita was warm and soft ... my guess is they make them in house or at least get them from somewhere that makes real deal pitas. I was very disappointed this afternoon at the restaurant. I ordered a hot dog. My bun was very hard and cold. They were not busy but the men putting the order together know better than to serve that sandwich that way. I came to order food for the family, but left with not ordering anything else. I told the employee inside who offered me another hot dog but i had already ate mine and did not want another nor a refund. The outside eating area is very nice,but the garbage was overflowing. The best place for me, definitely! One of the greatest resto here in United states. Love their foods, it is their high light of course and it suits it perfectly. I already gotten in here several times and I would always order their Spinach pie, Rice pilaf, Chicken kebab and fries. Really, really recommend those. The size portion of this place is also amazing, it is definitely a great deal since their food would really get your cravings. Their service is also phenomenal, they have very friendly, patient, professional, polite and responsible staff which is a very good thing. I would always ask for their opinions about the menu and they would answer very proper on to it. Really neat people, actually. I also love the vibe of this place, very immaculate and unique. Great place, for a quick bite at a good price. They have Greek and American food, with great burgers and sandwiches, including shish-ka-bobs and gyros. This place actually had the audacity to sell me a Greek salad, from out of a bag! The price was a staggering 10.46$ !!!!!!! Eating it i couldn't help feeling, "Dear Lord! It's only a salad with chicken. NEWS FLASH.....YOU ARE IN NILES, NOT GLENCOE! NOT KENILWORTH! NOT LAKE FOREST! Everybody I know around town, the working people who hold very low-playing, soul-crushing jobs around Niles, constantly tell me they can't afford to eat at places like Goodi's because "It's too expensive." And believe me, I told everybody how great the food at Goodi's was when the previous owners were there. I recently dined in Winnetka, and here's the thing about that...most residents in that community will pay 10.46 for a Greek salad...because most of the people who live in places like Winnetka are doctors, attorneys etc...and they don't get paid 8 bucks an hour! You can charge them an arm and a leg and they might go for that. It would still be greedy to over-charge anybody, but the richest communities in Illinois have money to spend, much more money to spend than the average Niles resident, and that's exactly why you see moms driving Porsche SUVs around the North Shore. But this is Niles! Most residents I meet are hurting. They shop at Walmart for the cheapest food, and eat generic soup out of the can for lunch because they tell me that's the best way to stretch their puny income. Go see what their reaction will be when you tell them you'd like them to pay 10.46 for a salad. You would think being Greek and Christian the owners would feel ashamed even at the thought of serving too-expensive, lousy food. But they seem immune to learning anything that could help their business succeed. If that was my restaurant and I devoted all of my time and energy to it, I wouldn't dare serve food out of a bag to the people of this community and screw them with ridiculous prices. There's a reason PITA INN across the street is overflowing with customers! Goodi's owners have lots to learn, most of all HUMILITY. They don't seem to factor in the cost of losing once great customers, and they don't seem to care about the quality of their food!!! When you work for money and not for love the world always becomes a more miserable place for all of us. The cost of greed should be intolerable to every mother and father on the planet who love their children and love the world and want to see the world become a place of love and happiness for all living beings. Alas, everybody loves to bow down to $$$$$$$$ The consequence of serving lousy food and charging way too much is that once valued customers YELP! to everybody about the bad experience they had, and let them know to never waste their money at Goodi's restaurant. Lastly, it's incredibly selfish forcing all your customers to watch TV and especially the news with all the horrific, tragic events of the world while families are trying to eat a meal. It amazes me that these owners would never dare consider playing pleasant music that actually makes people feel good to be there! Music greatly improves ambience...especially in a restaurant. Television has really become a cancer in our world and you can't sit down to meal without the glowing box of death everywhere you go. It makes the eating experience extremely unpleasant, but good luck trying to express that to the owners of Goodi's. Good restaurants don't need TV! The Pita Inn has played music for thirty years non-stop and I believe it's one of the reason they are successful. Because to be THERE is a happy experience, not a dismal and depressing one. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is unbelievable!!!!! They actually appreciate their customers and go out of their way to make people smile!!!!! Went there this weekend as it was it was in the entertainment book with a 50% discount. Placed my order and gave her my phone to get the discount. She said she needed to get the manager as she didn't know what to do??? Manager says it's not the correct coupon? Read the coupon out loud and it was the correct location! He wouldn't take it? In Niles Greek gyro places still come complete with Greek accents, and Goodi's leads the charge. Great burgers and gyros and reasonably priced half rotisserie chickens keep me fat and happy. Greek owned......I could say enough said but I have to rave about the Athenian Steak dinner. Now...I was under the impression it was a a steak sandwhich....Nope. Ugh What a disappointment. Wasted $11.20 Got an Italian Beef, Dipped with hot peppers and Moz, Onion Rings and a lge soda. The beef was inedible. Dry (I guess they do not know what dipped means??!!) and tasteless. The portion was HUGE but since it was inedible, that means I just threw out more food! Onion rings were frozen and not fresh. The place is clean and has now door patio for all to use. There is plenty of parking and The food service was excellent and very fast for one I ordered. Goodi's has been at this location for a number of years. I decided to give it another try after seeing their UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT signs. To my knowledge, nothing has changed to the build-out or decor--it looks just like it did under the old management. Their menu is extensive and a bit odd. For example, they offer both a regular and deluxe hamburger. The deluxe, I believe comes with lettuce and tomato for an additional fee. I ordered a chicken kabob sandwich. I've had this sandwich at Booby's and Dengeo's, so I have a basis for comparison. You place your order with a cashier and they call your number to pick up your food items. My sandwich was served on a very tiny pita bread, contained few pieces of tomato and grilled onion, besides the four pieces of chicken. The chicken was tender without a lot of flavor. The portion size was small for its $5.95 price. There is a self-serve Coca Cola fountain. For me, tastier food at a better value can be obtained at Celli's Beef, a bit south of Goodi's, on Milwaukee Avenue (near Oakton). read more

If I was to rank the North Shore best "Greek" greasy spoons, this place would come in last. (Dengeos is #1) I have eaten here a few times, when in the neighborhood, but would not make the drive here. Food: Mediocre at best and I have had the gyros, Italian Beef and the chicken kabob. The rice that came with the kabob was dry and lacked flavor. The pita served with entrees is warm, but not toasted; so its still a bit soggy from the flattop. Decor/Etc: West side of the restaurant is well lit, while the east with the plasma tv is very dim. Tables not bussed, as it appears the son that does the expediting also cleans the tables, while mom takes the orders. I guess they do not do enough volume to add another body. Trays, dishes and silverware piled up on the trashcan. Several tables dirty, had to pass a few until I found a clean one. Service: Not much to say, nothing special; not even an "Enjoy your meal" comment when I picked up the food at the counter when they called my tix#. I love this place. It's super close to home and the food is great. Everything is definitely "Grecian style." I've never had something from here that didn't taste good. From the appetizers to soups to entrees, there's something for everyone! The menu item that I recommend most would definitely be the Grecian potatoes. I promise you, they will leave you wanting more! They serve all standard Greek fare, plus burgers and the Vienna line up. I like to get the dogs here, but I'm not a fan of their tomato slices, relish, pickles, or sporties. I placed my order thru Grubhub so perhaps some of the issues I have is with them, but overall I was not happy with the food quality and pricing. To start, the prices I was charged were significantly higher than what appears on Goodi's website menu. I was buying lunch for myself and two Grandsons. As I was ordering, I was quite surprised by the prices but continued with the order because we had a limited amount of time. The menu didn't state that fries were included with the burgers so I included two orders of fries that ended up in the trash. The kids meal hotdog cost $7.49 and was supposed to include a drink which we didn't receive. $7.49 FOR JUST A PLAIN HOT DOG, REALLY??! The delivery of $.99 sounded great - but an additional service fee of $2.31?? The final straw was when I realized my 20% tip was based not only on the total for my food, but on the delivery charge, extra fee and TAX! Seems that should be illegal! read more

Too bad they took over Fluky's - Goodi's has okay food, nothing to write home about, and it seems to take a while for the staff to cook your order. Gyros are just okay and edible, skirt steak sandwich has meat that is very tough to chew (should be tenderized a bit more), but that is the extent of what I ate there - otherwise, they have the usual salads, burgers, dogs. Unless if you don't want to go to the crappy food court in Golf Mill shopping mall or the blah Taco Bell nearby, I'd try to avoid Goodi's when you can go for better food at the Works towards the east or Photo's in the west... read more

I am a road warrior and eat out often. I found Goodi's by accident and what a find. The food is good, I especially enjoy the ribs and the deserts are excellent. But what I really enjoy is the family environment. Everytime I walk in they recognize my face even though it's been months since I've been back. There is a comforting feeling being there. My company branch HQ is here and many of us rotate through here several times per year. Since I first found this place I drag my groups here. I thought this place looked pretty sketchy from the outside but the food is actually really good. It reminds me of better quality fast food. With lots of variety in its menu. I got the spinach and cheese puff pastry which was huge. It was tasty. It wasn't spectacular but it certainly hit the spot. The chicken kabob platter comes with French fries and salad. I ordered a cheeseburger from here on Uber Eats. On the Uber Eats menu is says that cheeseburgers come with lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayonnaise onion, cole slaw, and fries. When my burger was delivered it came with nothing except cheese. When I called the restaurant to ask what happened the woman on the phone actually yelled at me and told me it wasn't her problem and I should have known better and that if the menu is wrong then it's uber'a problem. I have never experienced such awful customer service in my life. She actually blamed me and made no move to listen to me or work with me about the problem. I had issue with mine and then guy comes in upset because they messed up his order too. They got a very young girl working the front and she could care less to be there and get your order right. A few years ago, I had a heart problem, so I visit a cardiologist from time to time. Fortunately, I exercise daily and maintain an exceptionally strict health regimen to remain in amazingly good shape for an old fossil. I was returning from a successful checkup where he told me that I am in extremely good shape; so I decided to celebrate by going to a place that had some not-so-healthy food - just this once. I decided upon Goodi's because I had a $5 off coupon, I was going to pass by on my way back, and I had not been there in several years. I did not know that the place had new management, and that it was more of a Greek-style restaurant than the hot dog palace I recall it once was. "Frankly," I think the last time I was there, the place was called Fluky's, a well-known Chicago-style hot dog joint. I vaguely recall that it was sold off 10+ years ago, and the name was changed. They used to attract crowds there on Friday summer nights when they sponsored antique auto owners to display their cars in their lot as an attraction to draw business. Well, I entered with good intentions to order something non-healthy; but I chickened out and ordered a chicken sandwich. The sandwich was listed on their "healthy" menu. Goodi's uses a counter service approach, and the menu resembles what you would experience at a Greek restaurant more than anything else. The restaurant looks a little tired, and could probably use some renovation and deep cleaning I know that many of the reviews were critical of Goodi's, but I experienced none of the negative issues they reported. I experienced no problems with the staff nor with anybody's attitudes. I work in Niles, this is the second time I order lunch from here. The food was good - The only thing I didn't like is that I ordered a side of Greek potatoes and they give me 3 measly wedges. That come out to be a dollar a wedge. I did call to ask if I was only suppose to get 3 pieces and she said yes, so good know. They also messed up my order and gave me fries instead of rice. Diner with Greek/Mediterranean options. I've only had the gyros platter/sandwich. Every time I've gone here, it's been pretty empty. The pita is definitely made with butter. So unhealthy but so tasty! The meat flavoring is the closest taste to Zorba's (of Champaign, IL notoriety) that I can find up north. Cafeteria/diner-like setting.
