First, I saw these bright lights in the dark, it alerted me to a very clean restaurant. I walked in the cafe and it was spacious and very clean. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands before ordering and the bathroom was nice and clean. When I ordered food, the person taking my order was nice. They bought the food to us, and let me tell you, the portions were for 2-3 people. I've never been so satisfied with portions before in my life. The burrito I got was huge, the carne asada fries my son got was gigantic, the club sandwich my wife ordered was big and the fries tasted really good and my daughter always stays classy, so she ordered a steak with steamed vegetables. Why are the ladies always so rude at this place?! First of all they're only attentive to the older people and the regulars (don't bother to ask Me if I'm here for a pick up when I walk in to pick up my order). Lines arent organized and the lady who took my phone order this morning said I need to be Faster with my orders because she's busy. What is that? We've been customers of this restaurant for over 10 years and we go on a weekly basis for breakfast. You usually have a bit of a wait in the morning but usually the food is worth the wait. Today we ordered our usual at the Palm Desert restaurant we placed the order at 10:21 AM, 30 minutes we still hadn't received our order but noticed that (4) other orders placed after ours had been served. When I asked the cashier she said "they were working on it and it will be ready soon " 20 minutes after that I asked the cashier for a refund and she told me our meal was coming out. Now people started to notice that they ordered after us and they had already received their meal. The third time I went to the cashier the cooks looked surprised that the order was still on their list. 10 minutes later we finally received our meal and the biscuits and gravy were cold. When I informed the manager she said the temperature was fine and would not refund my money. For this I told her after 10 years of coming here weekly for Sunday breakfast we would no longer patronize Goody's Cafe in which she responded "Have a nice day, Sir". We left the restaurant at 11:47 AM and hour and 26 minutes after our order was originally placed. What a shame that we will "no longer"patronize Goody's Cafe. read more

I have been eating breakfast/lunch there for many years.... at least once a week. Tonight at 6 pm I was running late and didn't have time to make dinner. So on my way home I caked in an order of 2 hot pastrami on the roll. We have had them before and they were great. When I got there to pick them up I noticed the guy was wrapping them and they weren't burnt sandwiches on slices bread...not a roll. I told the girl I wanted then on a roll. She argued with me that I ordered it grilled. I said no I ordered it on roll. She argued 3 times with me. She wouldn't change it and the cook guy was even mad and arguing with me. So I took them... left no tip and walked out. When I got home....I unwrapped them for my Husband and I. Omg..... so burnt....dry little pieces of pastrami meat...a huge green chile...tomatoes and mayonnaise. What kinda pastrami is that? Very gross and very greasy. I ate a few bites and wanted to throw up. Threw it out. My Husband attempted to eat at least half. He couldn't. Worst ever. Pastrami is supposed to be on a roll. Mustard and pickles. Wth... I won't stop until I can get ahold of someone higher up to complain to and they just lost a long time customer. I called and tried to complain but couldn't get anyone on the phone to speak english. The cook rocks, he is a consummate short order cook, fast and efficient and you get to watch him work. Oh yeah, the Sinatra tunes playing also helps with an ambience that is pretty dive. Prior orders via delivery services arrived hot and well made - even pancakes and eggs. Not last night. Cold food made poorly. Teeny eggs (smaller than before: cost cutting measure?) cold - and well done, not over easy because arrival cold meant they had to be re-heated. French toast: very very dry - beyond the outside that shows, inside dry bread (learn how to soak in your egg mixture, not just dip and flip please). And note: depending on which delivery service you use, a "Breakfast B" or other combo may be different - some with meat, some without, some with two pancakes, some not - check each delivery service before assuming ordering the same item on another service gets you the same meal (or price for that matter). I learned the hard way. With the exorbitant fees delivery services now tack onto each order (check those, too - for same restaurant, the added fees will vary), it's hardly worth ordering online - especially when a simple breakfast will double in cost by the time the fees get tacked on - and that's even with what they call "free delivery." Bottom line: go in person. read more

We took advantage of the happy hour deal for three $5 cheeseburgers. We are frequent customers for breakfast. We thought they were okay and you couldn't beat the price. However, one of us had 3 hairs in the burger about 2 or 3 inches long each!! I wish he would have shared that information sooner so we could have stopped eating immediately. I always go there. I am a regular at Goody's Cafe Palm Desert. They are super friendly people. Every time I go in there everyone from the kitchen goes over and says Hi. Food is good but they take forever to answer if they answer the phone for an order. Would call with a good 30-45 minutes ahead of time when food needed to be picked up because restaurant logically is busy during peak hours. Many times have I been placed on hold for over 5 minutes to get an order in and upon arrival it was not ready. When someone is working with a short window time to get order picked and delivered it gets frustrating that 9/10 times there are delays. After not ordering for months, gave it another try again and called 10 times in the span of 9 minutes. Sometimes it would ring and ring no answer, and at others it would make the busy dial tone and hang up the call. So disappointing because food has been good. read more

Over the years I've always been a big fan of Goody's restaurant. But I have not been here for a couple of years. Stopped in today to grab some quick breakfast, and I have to say I was very disappointed by the food. Not only did we wait 20 minutes for food, when I got it, it was cold and not even cooked all the way through. Their version of buttered toast has become oil on bread , and that was cold too. My son ordered the pancakes with eggs and sausage. They now charge an extra $0.60 for a sausage patty. He also wanted orange juice, but that is 4.95 for a 16 ounce cup. There's a lot of competition for breakfast in the area, and they need to work on their standards and try to make sure they can maintain the reputation that they used to have. read more

Found a staple in my eggs. Called to tell them just to let them know to be cautious. Was not even expecting a refund or anything just wanted them to be aware. And the lady answered saying it couldn't have been them that put the staple there. That it must've fallen from the reciet being stapled on the bag. But my reciet was handed to my husband not stapled to the bag... The staple was literally inside the middle of my eggs. Hate how they didn't own up to it and disregarded it. read more
