Busy location on Harry Hines, open late, and has a drive-thru. Service is quick and courteous. They may well have the saltiest carnitas in the whole world. Be advised, this is a weird area, and there were hookers just at the end of the block on a saturday night. Food is not great, but if you are hungry late at night, this could be the place. read more

I saw this place while on the way to the post office. I was craving tacos and noticed there was a line at the drive thru during lunch. I figured I'd join in since the menu was pretty cheap. I got the fajita beef taco combo. It came with rice, beans, and cilantro and onions of course. The rice was okay. It could go with some more flavor but it wasn't bad. The beans were my favorite. They weren't completely mushed and they were seasoned well. The tacos were pretty good. The meat was a bit tough but I'm not mad. It cost about $7.40 total. Don't let the outside fool you. I was skeptical but I'm glad I stopped. Also, the lady that took my order in the drive thru spoke english but the one who gave me my at the window didn't. I still got the correct order and was charged correctly. A lot of the restaurants seem to only speak Spanish in the area and sometimes there's a language barrier but everything was good here. read more

Dear God in Heaven....My mother has worked in high end spots like the Mansion Hotel, Magnolia, Savor, Lakewood Country Club, but these gorditas shocked her. She doesn't like restaurant food because she's had the best/worst of it, but she was speechless after eating the food from this spot. The food here is so amazing. AMAZING!!! Gorditas are FILLED. Every filling is amazing, but barbacoa, desebrada, chorizo, guisado, picadillo are our goto's. Beans and rice are good. Aguas frescas are perfect. Please check it out. You will not be disappointed. My only complaint is that they do not carry queso fresco, but we bring the food home and load it up. The food here is so good! One of my top 5 restaurants in Dallas for sure. read more

Drive thru was kind of slow but I do believe they make your main dishes fresh to order.. The woman at the window only spoke Spanish and she wasn't very friendly for a first time english speaking customer. They do allow you to check your food before they take your money which is awesome but I wasn't aware that's what I was supposed to do so it was an awkward kind of moment The food itself was also.. okay. It resembles a hole in the wall off of Harry Hines and it is one of my absolute new favorites in Dallas! There's adequate parking and inside looks nice and clean. All of the prices are extremely reasonable. I got the pastor and barbecoa gorditas and they are among the tastiest Mexican foods I've had. The gordita shells are nice and crisp and the meats were full of flavor. The salsas that they gave you are super spicy but I couldn't stop adding them to my food. A+++ food and I'm so glad to have found this place and can't wait to visit again!! read more

I do not recommend . The young woman who took our order was not nice. I ordered the tacos, and I received gorditas. I didn't complain or return the food because I didn't want the food to be thrown away and just be wasted so I decided to go ahead and just stick with the gorditas and give them a try since this was my first time at this establishment. I ordered the two gordita combo which came with rice and beans. The gorditas were authentic. I don't think they were made to order as mines was a little on the dry side. The fajita meat was very good with the spicy salsa. You get two, a red salsa and a green salsa. The red salsa is very spicy and my favorite. If I go again I would pass on the combo. Great hole in the wall Mexican spot. They have a drive through. It's open 24/7 which is great. I've been a couple times and so far everything has been amazing and homemade. They have a great selection of different meats. Barbacoa is always my go to though. The breakfast tacos are yummy too but the gorditas are a must. They have great rice too. Today was my first time trying this place. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I am use to a Gordita coming with sour cream and queso fresco cheese. They're Gorditas just come with the meat inside and lettuce and tomato on the side. Sour cream is $1 extra charge and I did not see cheese on the menu anywhere if I wanted to purchase that extra. I got the fajita steak and I will say the the meat was very flavorful, juicy and tender. Also, I'm not sure if I went on a slow day but the drive through was VERY, very slow. Delicious homemade mexican food. My wife and I went 2 nights in a row. Delicious burritos, quesadillas, rice and beans. It's open 24hrs, at least the drive thru. Although it seemed a bit pricey, I really liked this place. We had to wait in long for quite some time, but I think we just caught them at a busy time. Additionally, the lady at the register seemed new to the whole thing and was thrown for a loop when I ordered something that was on the menu, but probably rarely ordered (Arroz c/Frijol Gorditas). Laura would have been a fan it she had eaten the gorditas (the place is called what again?) But trust, I had the tamarind drink and it was pretty good (not as good as Kalachandji's). The food is pretty darn tasty, but service is minimal. Staff is always in a bad mood. There was no line, yet I had no one take my order until a few minutes. Then, I had ordered some gorditas which comes with a side of lettuce & tomatoes. I specifically said "no tomatoes " when my food arrived, guess what? I got tomatoes. I asked them if they could give me a side of lettuce alone & a lime. The lady instead took my entire plate, & just picked off the tomatoes & no lime. We went in today and really enjoyed the gorditas! My husband and I decided to try a bunch of different ones but our favorite was the Deshebrada it was delicious. Out of about 12ish different one we only disliked 2 the chicken because it was super bland and the carnitas unfortunately had no flavor and for this we give it 4 stars. my friends liked this place. i was disappointed. it was an "order at the counter" type of place, which i don't mind. however, the line wasn't terribly long, and it still took us a good 10-15 minutes to get to the register. they seemed understaffed. i can understand that, though. my friends liked the chicken tacos. i don't eat chicken, but if you do, you might wanna try it. it was a winner at our table. the chile relleno was just alright. i like my chile relleno with some sort of tomato sauce, but alas, my chile relleno was naked. allegedly, the sauceless preparation is more traditional. can anyone confirm this? they didn't remove any of the seeds from the pepper. spicy! i had the chile relleno with cheese, but a friend who had the beef liked it a lot. i think she might've said it reminded her of her mom's. beans looked and tasted canned, rice was unremarkable. the churros weren't homemade, but they were still good. because they were churros. and the horchata was damn good. it really stole the show, for me. another friend had the gorditas, and he liked them a lot. which makes sense considering the name of the establishment. so. all in all, for my personal experience, this place gets two stars. maybe two and a half, just for the horchata. but considering the fact that everyone but me enjoyed it, i'll go ahead and bump it up to three. read more

I usually go to El Paisa, .....but decided to give this place a chance/since they have a public restroom & better A/C. After a long day of my husband going to EVERY electronics store on H-Hines (ughh)....I was ready to get my grub ON. Husband had the chicken nachos, and I ordered the gordita meal (2 gorditas..rice/beans).....*pastor/chicken was chosen. When we were awaiting our meal, I wanted to get our condiments ready (verde salsa/red salsa/cilantro, pico, etc), but the condiment bar had been completely obliterated. I had to actually interrupt somebody that was trying to order, and tell the cashier to load that B back up (rediculous)...which he did (good for him). Our food came out, and it looked pretty tasty. My husband inhaled his nachos (I took 1), and they were really good. My gorditas were decent, but not OUTSTANDING. The pastor was good, but the chicken was lacking in flavor/kinda dry. Both meals with 1 drink cost $12 and some change. What messed me UP about this place, was that this couple, had SIX....yes....SIX kids with them who were running around this place like they were at Chuck-E-Cheese. A little girl that was with them kept going up to the condiment bar, eating lime wedges like freakin' CANDY (she was old enough to know better)....and she used her f-i-l-t-h-y little hands (NO TONGS) to grab for 1 lime wedge after the other. THAT messed me up...plus the fact that they were SLOW to clean up after people. It was a bit messy in this restaurant. Next time, when I'm in the mood for a Mexican hole-n-the-wall....I'll go next door to La Paisa and suffer through their lack of ample air conditioning. While I was driving down Harry Hines hunting down a cheap rug, we passed this place by and decided to stop and have a gordita. I had my first authentic gordita in San Antonio a few years ago and am always on the hunt for one that comes close to the ones I had there. This place is nothing fancy but there were alot of mexicans there that knew what they were doing and enjoying their food so I was excited to try. No one speaks english so ordering was a challenge. We had the gordita platter with 2 gorditas - I chose chorizo and Bistec a la mexicana - rice, beans and a drink. $6...can't complain! Both gorditas were really good - the fillings were good and the beans had tons of flavor. They were out of horchata so we missed out this go. I went to the establishment today placed my order at 12:13 with Anna (I believe that was her name my receipt says Dona Mari). Place a order for 2 orders of nachos of guiso de res. At 12:48 I was handed my nachos and 1 of them was wrong the lady that made the nachos got upset because I told her they were wrong she went to make some other ones after I had waited that time to get my food. Asked for 2 orders of guacamole and only got 1 asked them to charge me for the other one and they said they couldnt because it was under 5.00. I love the food but the service is not good.
