Overall 4/5. Loved that everything was fresh and made to order. It did take 45 minutes but there were no other customers in when we arrived so I can appreciate food not just sitting. Ordered the fried salmon with mac and cheese and yams, the fried shrimp with collard greens and yams, and a side of fried zucchini. And both entrees came with cornbread. Loved that nothing was greasy! Of everything we ordered, the best/most flavorful things were the yams and macaroni. The shrimp and salmon were barely overcooked, collard greens tasted like Glory greens, and cornbread like Krusteaz. None of it was terrible, but it needed more flavor.

Service was nice, effortless and quick. We ordered the soul fries, salmon and shrimp and wings with fries and zucchini. The soul fries were okay. I didn't try them but my son said the chicken was chewy and the Mac and cheese flavoring didn't pair well with the fries. Fried salmon was okay. It is a soft fry and the shrimp were on the small/medium side and chewy. I enjoyed the barbeque beans and the Mac and cheese was fine. It isn't the best and it isn't the worse. I'd put it in the middle. The wings were just average. I can remember the flavors I got and they weren't popping. I could differentiate between the two. The fried zucchini was mushy but the fries were delicious. They forgot all the sauces for the salmon, fries, zucchini. If I return, (and that is negotiable) I will try something different. Then, again, maybe I won't return.

Seen this place on TikTok. It was in the cut, if it wasn't for the sign you probably wouldn't know it was here. Completely empty inside. While we were there people did go in and out picking up To Go Orders I'm assuming. Kinda pricey, 2 meals was about $60, drinks not included. The sides on the menu were not the actual sides they had in house today. I wanted Mac & Cheese w/ green beans but had to get baked beans because green beans weren't available that day. I ordered fried Salmon plate. My sister got catfish plate w/ wings. She got the sweet hot wings I believe. The food was SO GOOD. The Mac was perfection. The baked beans were really good, so flavorful. Loved that they had meat & bell peppers. The fried catfish was delicious. It tasted like the crispy skin off of fried chicken BUT on salmon 10/10. Definitely recommend.

Tried due to the social media hype and I'm very disappointed. I had fish & shrimp, Mac & cheese, and rice & gravy. SMH, fish and shrimp salty, Mac & cheese dry and have to had been cooked days prior, rice sticky and gravy no favor. My husband had chicken-sweet chile, yams and cabbage. Chicken was prepared good but the sweet chile was not tasteful. Yams and cabbage hard pass.

The food is on 10 here!!! Delicious and cheesy Mac and cheese. The yams have the perfect amount of sweetness. Get that fried salmon. I really enjoyed it and add some chili oil to give it a kick and flavor. Their wings go crazy. I like the spicy honey but also enjoyed the garlic Parmesan. That strawberry banana pudding is next level. The baked beans and the collard greens are also tasty. You guys should check this place out. The staff is amazing. They have room to sit down and eat. Perfect place for family, date or takeout.

Definitely impressed by 'Gotta Have It', its hold true to its name. The marketing behind their restaurant is immaculate cause its all over my IG feed, and I was very happy to finally try it. The service was cool, They felt very personable and you can tell they are very focused on their food and almost nothing else. Thats fine by me! The food took a while to come out but that was also fine, just meant it was going to be hot. I order a side of fried zucchini with my Fried Salmon plate w/ Mac and Yams (my favorite combo). The mac was impressive and the young lady talk up the sweetness of the candied yams... eh, BUT they were also very impressive. My friend got the fried shrimp plate with greens and yams. She agreed that the yams were delicious but did NOT have any good things to say about the greens. I guess cause it wasn't any meat in them, lacked some flavor. They have a lot of different lemonade options which ii love and can get crowded. The salmon & shrimp were a little overcooked, but Id rather have that than cold food any day. I heard great things about their wings, so i cant wait to try that next !

over the weekend I had the pleasure of visiting gotta have it grill and when I say not only was the food amazing the customer service was great. I am a chef myself and this food was perfectly prepared not overly seasoned or salty but seasoned to perfection with flavors through and through. I had the fried salmon and honey hot wings mac&cheese and greens we also had the fried shrimp and lemon hot wings. I can't wait to come back and try the spaghetti and catfish We drove all the way from Palm Springs to try this place out and it gets 10/10 from this Chef fyi: dine in and relax or call ahead ...because this is not fast food great food takes time thanks

Me and my family came, we were a pretty large party ( about 10 of us) but the service was so bad we all ate at separate times, the cornbread ( which was good) came out after several people had already eaten. ( most ppl want their cornbread with their food) I got my food last and it wasn't cooked properly, I understand she wanted to get the food out since we waited so long but my smothered pork chop wasn't cooked enough, it was very tough and the gravy was very thick, it just wasn't enjoyable at all. Despite waiting, I would've waited longer for properly cooked pork chops. I got greens and cornbread dressing I think- it was ok but gravy was dropped into my greens which wasn't appealing to me. It could've been an off day but I didn't enjoy the experience at all. *someone from the business contacted me, they didn't contact me to ask how they can make the customer experience better or anything constructive. They contacted me to dispute that I was there. Pure foolishness when they literally have a picture of our party on there IG. I consider this behavior to be disturbing at best. The service wasn't to our liking and we eat out often. The young lady was nice,but had to leave but the next male cashier. Well jut left his personality at another location. Starts out the place drab. The menu was a whiteboard ,poor writing. The pricing was reasonable,. The service was not. The portion sizes where two bites. The sides where cold. The meats hot fresh but not all flavored the same. We were never offered water sodas or dessert. Everything was on a takeout style. With a plastic for and torn crumpled papertowel. my only 2 complaints are that the shrimp are really small and the portions on the fish and wings could be a little more but all the food is really good. The customer service is good as well. Nothing tastes bad at all. The Mac and cheese is great. Spaghetti also great , it is Perfect when you don't want to make a full pot. Greens great, Chicken & Fish seasoned perfectly ". First time here and the ladies in the front were so welcoming and kind! They gave us recommendations on what to order and I ended up ordering the fried salmon with mac & cheese and tater tots. The food was so delicious, the salmon was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. I can see why it's a popular choice on the menu. The restaurant itself has a very warm and comforting feel, and the music playing was great. I definitely will be coming back and trying more of the menu! read more

They have a vary hard time taking phone orders it's been days where 6 peoples wanted food in they put us on hold for 10 min the. We called back a few times trying to get through in couldn't I said they missed out on about 300$ worth of food because they couldn't take a order and we had just pulled into the parking lot I went in told them never mind u guys don't gotta pick up the phone we're leaving . I had the pleasure of going to the restaurant yesterday I had 10party wings with double mac n cheese it was good not like I thought it would be they don't need to add the parsley,the yams passed but the lemon flavored fries wasn't good to soft and greasy tasted old and didn't give you enough to charge $5 but overall I would go again and try something different and another it takes to long to get your food almost 1hr wait and I was told 30min max read more

Ordered the fried chicken dinner consisting of 3 pieces of chicken, mac & cheese and collard greens, 'cause if you're a soul food restaurant and you can't get the basics right you might as well throw in the towel, so I went with that. The chicken was fried well, had a beautiful golden color, a tad salty but manageable, but the seasoning didn't transfer to the meat under the skin. At first taste the mac and cheese tasted okay, but as I continued it just lost my taste bud's interest. As a saving grace the greens were great though. It was also a little pricey, as was the rest of the menu, and you didn't even get cornbread with your meat, which should've been a given. The restaurant was clean and the cashier was very pleasant. I don't see me making a return trip there. read more

Terrible service. The cook have a nasty attitude, and was very unprofessional. Don't ever order online!!!. I paid for an online order, I get there and they tell me they dont do online orders. Why is it on your website? Then you take my money, and tell my to contact doordash. Really. And you wonder why we get little support from each other. BECAUSE YOU DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND YOUR ATTITUDE STINKS. So I get a clap back from I'm assuming the owner telling me that it's my fault for not reading the website correctly. AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. No apologies for the misunderstanding, not addressing the unprofessionalism of the employee, and unable to resolve a customer's concerns. Instead she takes digs, and insist that it's my fault. I would have never written this review, had the employee showed a little compassion, and explain to me that they no longer use the online service. I would have excepted that, and placed the order in person, but again that nasty attitude, and lack of customer service will get you know where, and I hope and pray that you change your disposition, because it is not a good look. If you're familiar with Dirty South a while ago. It's the same atmosphere. Currently, there's no buffet. Owner is friendly. Food is awesome. We had fried catfish (crunchy outside, soft inside), greens ( a little spicy but good) mac&cheese ( lots of cheese),mashed potatoes, cornbread(moist), lemon pepper and bbq sauce wings. This is my second visit. First visit was much better. Food is good but yesterday I went and whoever was cooking was heavy handed on seasoning. Lemon pepper wings were soooo salty! Also I'm from the south and all greens need is some seasoning and a ham hock or turkey wing. Why must y'all make greens spicy? They don't need to be spicy unless you wanna add it to ur own l, I get it but it just made them not good. In Cali defense I've found that with most places out here. Fish was stellar though! Seasoned perfectly and cooked just right! Next time I'll get plain wings and skip the greens read more

My Son wanted to try to this place ..He got 3 meals one for me my sister and him ...greens No season , Mac and cheese was edible but nothing to write home about ..Yams had a good taste ..Pork chops thin needed more season but ok ...Overall the fooled is edible but not go back and get more edible .. The food is absolutely delicious I just wish they had more options. The chef seems like he has more to offer than mainly fried food. I would love some ox tails or turkey wings on a Sunday. Got to the restaurant at 1:30pm all you can eat started at 1pm There were a party of 6 and 2 waiting to be seated before my group of 4 the hostess said that it was a 30-45min wait in which we wait 1hour and 45min to be seated the owner then set her group of two friends in front of my me and the other group of two she gave them special service as well as they were not paying customers. I paid for 4 people and only two eat because me and my sister food was misplaced and then she keep greeting the order wrong bringing out the wrong food. I was highly upset as I was hungry and wait 2hours to eat for my food to not be correct and she give me sides with food I didn't order. Please run!!!!!! The food was not good at all it was rushed and unprepared This is a black owned and we have to give a better experience to people who have traveled from far to support but not get horrible service for their time or money. read more

We ordered smothered pork chop dinner ( but they gave us a fried pork chop by mistake) with greens and Mac and a 3piece fried chicken dinner with greens and Mac. The Mac was OK. It wasn't something I would order again neither of us finished it. The greens were good well seasoned and firm and mixed with cabbage (yum). The chicken is light in color (I prefer darker) and just on the line of needing a dash of salt and being under seasoned. I was not a fan of the corn bread. The color of it was off putting for me. The establishment was not good to me. It's not clean. The tables and chairs were everywhere. The shopping center needs some TLC (which is NOT the restaurant's fault). The staff is really nice and accommodating. I want this establishment to WIN!!! The food is good and there is a deficiency in the area for good soul food. I wish they would get rid of the cotton on the ceiling. It looks dirty. I think it's hiding the wires that go from the tv monitor to the power on the other side. This could be if more money could be invested into the ambiance and it would lift the shopping center up tremendously and bring more people there me to dine in and for soul food, people want a real dining experience. Overall the food was good I would try it again to support the establishment for sure! The ambience is a 2 but the food was a 4. It averages out to a solid 3. read more

The food was bland. I had the catfish nugget meal. The green beans were cold as if they came out the refrigerator, the catfish nuggets were like warm. The best thing to me was the kool aid. My plate wasn't clean. Under the rim of the plate was hard food residue. The music was extremely loud. My Husband order catfish and it took so long to arrive he decided to leave. read more

I ordered my food through Postmates. Fried pork chop it was fried so hard I couldn't even eat it.... The potato salad was hot the greens needed to cook longer. The cornbread tastes like cake mix was added to it. Never got my candied yams or banana pudding or kool aid. I hope they take this as constructive criticism and do better. read more

I came across this restaurant on tik tok, and this place did NOT DISAPPOINT ME. I travel a lot, with that I try a lot of different restaurants. I've had great food and horrible customer service. Here at Gotta Have It Grill the customer service was astonishing. I felt like I walked into one of my friends restaurant. I cannot even explain how amazing their food was. Every table looked as if it was dirty from the day before. The cashier the young lady with her hair in a bun had the nerves to be sitting at the register puffing on some type of pipe all I know is I seen smoke coming out of her mouth. The music was extremely loud the cashier could barely hear us to take our order. Now lets talk about this food. Omg it was nothing like I got two weeks ago. My Salmon and my co-workers catfish was under cooked basically raw. We had to take our food back to the office and place it in the air fryer. I was very disappointed. I really wanted Spaghetti but the cashier said they was sold out and suggested Salmon. That was a big mistake never again, I was introduced to the signature bread that they offer called crack bread and they was sold out of that as well. I found it quite strange because it was so early in the day. Mac and Cheese was dry it was missing something it taste nothing like it did two weeks ago. The Collard Greens had more stems than greens. Gave this restaurant 2 stars for the effort. I drove from the west side in rush hour traffic to get to this spot. I found out about this place on Instagram. My plate did not look or taste nothing like the pictures that was promoted on BlackFoodLA page. The yams just tasted like a boiled potato not sweet at all and very mushy. My pork chop was over cooked and a little over seasoned. Baked Beans was way to sweet and very sticky, My husband got Catfish and Shrimp both the catfish and the shrimp was under cooked and salty. Customer Service was a 10/10 this is why i gave 2 stars the young girl in the front was very friendly and professional. The food was just ok. Food was more on the salty side. Mac and Cheese was mostly just noodles lacking the cheese. Catfish was a little under cooked and a little to salty. Spaghetti was meatless and tasted like tomato paste. This is my second time here. Food was much better last time. The customer service was just ok. What I love about this place, the food is cooked to order. Unlike some restaurants where the food is sitting in a warmer and been out for hours. The staff is friendly and the food is good. Call in your order because the wait time good be 30min, but it's worth the wait read more
