Overall 4/5. Loved that everything was fresh and made to order. It did take 45 minutes but there were no other customers in when we arrived so I can appreciate food not just sitting. Ordered the fried salmon with mac and cheese and yams, the fried shrimp with collard greens and yams, and a side of fried zucchini. And both entrees came with cornbread. Loved that nothing was greasy! Of everything we ordered, the best/most flavorful things were the yams and macaroni. The shrimp and salmon were barely overcooked, collard greens tasted like Glory greens, and cornbread like Krusteaz. None of it was terrible, but it needed more flavor.

Service was nice, effortless and quick. We ordered the soul fries, salmon and shrimp and wings with fries and zucchini. The soul fries were okay. I didn't try them but my son said the chicken was chewy and the Mac and cheese flavoring didn't pair well with the fries. Fried salmon was okay. It is a soft fry and the shrimp were on the small/medium side and chewy. I enjoyed the barbeque beans and the Mac and cheese was fine. It isn't the best and it isn't the worse. I'd put it in the middle. The wings were just average. I can remember the flavors I got and they weren't popping. I could differentiate between the two. The fried zucchini was mushy but the fries were delicious. They forgot all the sauces for the salmon, fries, zucchini. If I return, (and that is negotiable) I will try something different. Then, again, maybe I won't return.

Seen this place on TikTok. It was in the cut, if it wasn't for the sign you probably wouldn't know it was here. Completely empty inside. While we were there people did go in and out picking up To Go Orders I'm assuming. Kinda pricey, 2 meals was about $60, drinks not included. The sides on the menu were not the actual sides they had in house today. I wanted Mac & Cheese w/ green beans but had to get baked beans because green beans weren't available that day. I ordered fried Salmon plate. My sister got catfish plate w/ wings. She got the sweet hot wings I believe. The food was SO GOOD. The Mac was perfection. The baked beans were really good, so flavorful. Loved that they had meat & bell peppers. The fried catfish was delicious. It tasted like the crispy skin off of fried chicken BUT on salmon 10/10. Definitely recommend.

Tried due to the social media hype and I'm very disappointed. I had fish & shrimp, Mac & cheese, and rice & gravy. SMH, fish and shrimp salty, Mac & cheese dry and have to had been cooked days prior, rice sticky and gravy no favor. My husband had chicken-sweet chile, yams and cabbage. Chicken was prepared good but the sweet chile was not tasteful. Yams and cabbage hard pass.

The food is on 10 here!!! Delicious and cheesy Mac and cheese. The yams have the perfect amount of sweetness. Get that fried salmon. I really enjoyed it and add some chili oil to give it a kick and flavor. Their wings go crazy. I like the spicy honey but also enjoyed the garlic Parmesan. That strawberry banana pudding is next level. The baked beans and the collard greens are also tasty. You guys should check this place out. The staff is amazing. They have room to sit down and eat. Perfect place for family, date or takeout.

Definitely impressed by 'Gotta Have It', its hold true to its name. The marketing behind their restaurant is immaculate cause its all over my IG feed, and I was very happy to finally try it. The service was cool, They felt very personable and you can tell they are very focused on their food and almost nothing else. Thats fine by me! The food took a while to come out but that was also fine, just meant it was going to be hot. I order a side of fried zucchini with my Fried Salmon plate w/ Mac and Yams (my favorite combo). The mac was impressive and the young lady talk up the sweetness of the candied yams... eh, BUT they were also very impressive. My friend got the fried shrimp plate with greens and yams. She agreed that the yams were delicious but did NOT have any good things to say about the greens. I guess cause it wasn't any meat in them, lacked some flavor. They have a lot of different lemonade options which ii love and can get crowded. The salmon & shrimp were a little overcooked, but Id rather have that than cold food any day. I heard great things about their wings, so i cant wait to try that next !

over the weekend I had the pleasure of visiting gotta have it grill and when I say not only was the food amazing the customer service was great. I am a chef myself and this food was perfectly prepared not overly seasoned or salty but seasoned to perfection with flavors through and through. I had the fried salmon and honey hot wings mac&cheese and greens we also had the fried shrimp and lemon hot wings. I can't wait to come back and try the spaghetti and catfish We drove all the way from Palm Springs to try this place out and it gets 10/10 from this Chef fyi: dine in and relax or call ahead ...because this is not fast food great food takes time thanks

Me and my family came, we were a pretty large party ( about 10 of us) but the service was so bad we all ate at separate times, the cornbread ( which was good) came out after several people had already eaten. ( most ppl want their cornbread with their food) I got my food last and it wasn't cooked properly, I understand she wanted to get the food out since we waited so long but my smothered pork chop wasn't cooked enough, it was very tough and the gravy was very thick, it just wasn't enjoyable at all. Despite waiting, I would've waited longer for properly cooked pork chops. I got greens and cornbread dressing I think- it was ok but gravy was dropped into my greens which wasn't appealing to me. It could've been an off day but I didn't enjoy the experience at all. *someone from the business contacted me, they didn't contact me to ask how they can make the customer experience better or anything constructive. They contacted me to dispute that I was there. Pure foolishness when they literally have a picture of our party on there IG. I consider this behavior to be disturbing at best. Their pulled pork sandwiches are fire. Smoked slow and is seasoned to perfection. However it's not available on the menu at the moment. I can't wait until they have it back on their menu. However, all their other food is great. Mike makes great wings and has a lot of great flavors to choose from. Their sides are really good, mac and cheese is really good. Their collard greens is great as well. I recommend this place if you want some great food read more

My husband and I came about a month ago and it was good. My husband and I drove a little over an hour to come back here and the food wasn't the same. The service was not good either. Customer service is very important to me. We went for the "All You Can Eat" menu and I guess the girl who was servicing us was new. I understand you want to have conversations at work, but I feel all topics shouldn't be discussed. We heard about her man and how he was a Muslim and how she missed him because she couldn't touch him because he was fasting. That's fine if this business feels this was an okay discussion to have at work because some of her coworkers joined in the discussion. My only issue is that we were just waiting to have dirty plates removed from our table. We wanted our next plate and no one ever came around to take our next order or to check on us. My husband had to get up from the table and go back to the register to ask if we can order more food. I hope this is fixed because I hope this place stays in business and has return customers. Maybe we will try again in about a month or if we are in the area. I don't think I will drive out my way to come here again. read more

Ordered a catfish plate, shrimp plate/catfish plate, chicken tender plate, and a porkchop plate. All of them were absolutely delicious. The batter on the fried catfish was light, and the fish was fresh and flavorful. It was all cooked perfectly, with the collard greens and fries being a very nice compliment to the rest of the food. The portions were large and more than enough to feed my family of four people, with leftovers to spare. I would definitely recommend giving this spot a try if you are looking for some great southern cuisine! read more

I'm a big fan of the spaghetti and the crack bread. Unfortunately, they were sold out I'm told this is a very popular item. Must come earlier instead. I got a chicken wings. Dinner was very good. Someone commented the bathrooms were filthy and I just commented on what I also experienced going here. The woman who bashed them for being unsanitary was able to get a happy greeting from the owner, even blessing her but as soon as I made my comment on what I saw, I was bashed from the owner and it looks like two accounts that she has she took it upon herself to bash me I complemented that the food looked good. I also said that I hope they get good business. I just wanted them to know what I saw and what my experience was seems to me. They don't want Brown business there by not being greeted when I showed up not being acknowledged while I waited in line for 10 minutes. The whole place is disgusting in reality. It smells horrible in there. Maybe it is the bathroom that smells like that structure it in the wall for you to wait for somebody to cook you up some food the sinks look nasty. Everything is cluttered. Who knows what goes on there if you wanna come here to try to possibly get food poisoning be my guest. read more

Horrible place, I came @ 3pm got the all you can eat for two. We ate our first plate @ 4:30 fast forward to 7:30 pm and still hadn't received our second plate, also ppl came in and purchased the all you can eat buffet and left after two hours w/o ever receiving their food. Unfortunately... When I first came to this restaurant midyear, last year 2023 first time trying it the food was amazing!! The shrimp was a nice size, flavorful and delicious. The cornbread was really delicious too! Mac was cool. But ughh this is the second time and unfortunately this will be my last time because I did not have a good experience for all I paid for. I paid $57 this time for three plates that had the wings with shrimp. All had greens and mac with no drinks!! I asked to clarify that if the food came with a drink and was told no!! Damn :( That's fine.. Cornbread is dry. The shrimps is supposed to be garlic Parmesan, they were small ones fried on a stick, it wasn't like it used to be, It doesn't taste nothing like garlic parm. The greens tasted like it was boiled without seasoning, the chicken didn't taste like lemon pepper hot, it just tasted plain. I honestly feel supporting black businesses is extremely important especially now with all that is going on in the world. I do hope that the business makes a comeback and serves better quality food. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. This place bout nasty a** hell. Unseasoned food. Hard chicken. Sides nasty. Customer service poor. Decor is wild. They need help. I wish I wasn't so let down by a black owned business. Service was terrible. Leave the hood at home a run a business. I left the food in the car. And I'm not going to get it. The service was beyond exceptional! It was very busy. My family and I (party of 5) visited on a Sunday after church for the all you can eat deal and the team was attentive and actively trying their best to get to everyone in a timely and orderly fashion, through the crowds and slight chaos the servers gave amazing service with smiles on their faces! The food was just ok. In their defense, I don't think they expected the crowd to be as large as it was so things might have been rushed in the kitchen. I will definitely return to try the food again on a less busier day. All in all, the atmosphere and energy of beautiful black and brown families breaking bread together, laughing and enjoying themselves made the experience worth while. read more

Every single food item we had was a HIT. Catered into our office for a special luncheon and it was so tasty!!! My favorite was the potato salad and maybe also the sweet potatoes; my coworker loved the chicken. Man... I don't know where to start; the food or the service. Both were amazing and both will have me coming back for more!! Food was cooked to order so the wait was a little long 15 minutes or so but as I waited the cashier was talking to me and literally gave me food to try out as a way of introducing me to the restaurant for the first time. I'm from the south and have not been pleased with the other soul food restaurants in the area mainly because it's much of the same; canned veggies and gravy. Not this place!! when I tell you it was all fresh and home made with perfect flavors. The soul rolls (egg rolls) with a fresh gravy was a total shock. My highlights were the collard greens and the soul rolls. I was also made aware of a weekend buffet... this experience made me really want to come back for that experience! Give this place a try and if you are on EBT don't be ashamed they accept it as a payment method. Overall 10/10 will be back with friends! And the Corn Bread is Crack Bread as they call it... great experience read more

Ive passed by this placed many times and never knew it was there. Oh boy have I been missing out. I think they just recently revamped because they just had a grand opening. I've been dying for some good soul food and did I get my wish. I had a fried chicken dinner with greens and Mac and grabbed my mom a cat fish dinner. Greens were like my grand mothers and that Mac and cheese was nice and cheesy. My mom loved the catfish only complaint was the portions was small. I think she only said that cuz she was trying to steal some of my chicken lol. I can tell they are still in the process of remodeling and getting everything together but the atmosphere was very quaint and family based. The staff was very inviting and made you feel at home. The secret gem of this place are the sweets and treats. One of the owners/managers makes treats for the restaurant and all I can say is they were like crack lol. Super addicting. I bought a slice of red velvet cake and 7-Up cake and all I can say is fire!!! On my next go back I have to take pictures, sorry guys I couldn't contain myself the food was that good!!! Give this place a try. For a place that just opened up the food was awesome and the customer severice had that down home southern feel to it. I follow their social media and see that they have daily specials and are constantly adding to their menu. I heard about this restaurant yesterday on social media and decided to give it a try. It's located in a small strip mall. Parking was easy. When I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted by two employees. The menu had a nice variety of choices of main entrees and sides. I decided on the fried salmon, rice and gravy and 'OG fries'. The fries didn't make it home. They were hot, perfectly seasoned and had a crisp outside and soft inside: delicious (not greasy at all)!! The rice was great and the gravy had just the right amount of onions. The fried salmon was AMAZING. First of all, it was a nice size piece of salmon. The outside was crispy and light and the inside was tender and flavorful: NOT greasy and over-seasoned. My favorite part about the food is that it was not overly salted. I could actually taste the flavors. The service was excellent. My order took about 18 minutes. I decided to wait in my car and the cashier offered to bring my food out to me. I will definitely be back to support this black-owned business. read more

On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

When here, I always order the Franciscan cut Prime Rib cooked to medium (it's 3/4 pounds), house salad with ranch dressing, and steak fries. Wish I knew the recipe of the dressing. The steak fries pair perfectly with the prime rib. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I would say is pretty average is the sourdough bread. Although it comes out warm, I don't get the sense that they're freshly baked. The service here is phenomenal. The servers are attentive, polite, and efficient. Can't ask for anything more from them. If you're looking for a trendy spot with contemporary decor and pretentious vibes, this place is not for you. This is an old school steakhouse with red upholstered booths and soft music playing in the background. If you live in the South Bay, and you're looking for a classic prime rib experience, this is a place you should check out.

I came to this restaurant with friends about 2 weeks ago and the food was great, Being that I work up the street at SpaceX I told my co-workers about this spot so we all decided to return this Wednesday 01/03/2024. Lets just say it was a big mistake. I already had doubts about eating at this spot due to the B in the window. Lets talk about how dirty this place was. Every table looked as if it was dirty from the day before. The cashier the young lady with her hair in a bun had the nerves to be sitting at the register puffing on some type of pipe all I know is I seen smoke coming out of her mouth. The music was extremely loud the cashier could barely hear us to take our order. Now lets talk about this food. Omg it was nothing like I got two weeks ago. My Salmon and my co-workers catfish was under cooked basically raw. We had to take our food back to the office and place it in the air fryer. I was very disappointed. I really wanted Spaghetti but the cashier said they was sold out and suggested Salmon. That was a big mistake never again, I was introduced to the signature bread that they offer called crack bread and they was sold out of that as well. I found it quite strange because it was so early in the day. Mac and Cheese was dry it was missing something it taste nothing like it did two weeks ago. The Collard Greens had more stems than greens. Catfish was salty. The whole situation was bad. I wasted my money and my time. I will NOT be returning the food is not consistant it tasted nothing like it did 2 weeks ago. I was only able to have one plate after waiting 1 hour to get the plate. That spaghetti was everything. Them greens was cooked to perfection. The spaghetti was NOT the same it tasted just like pure tomato sauce and the spaghetti noodles were full of starch. The yams where not sweet at all and I did not taste no butter. I had my mouth ready for dirty rice and that was not on the menu. The quality of the food was not the same. A couple of other guest that was sitting nearby was disappointed as well. I was expecting to get the same food. The fried pork chop was ok but a little over cooked. It took forever to bring my food out and when I did get my food it was cold. The employees where all over the place. It was like a circus. I had to keep asking the girl about my food. Once again I was only able to get one plate. I don't know why they say its all you can eat. I will not be back I'm totally disappointed. It seems like this establishment is just trying to make a quick dollar and serve you anything. My plate did not look or taste nothing like the pictures that was promoted on BlackFoodLA page. The yams just tasted like a boiled potato not sweet at all and very mushy. My pork chop was over cooked and a little over seasoned. Baked Beans was way to sweet and very sticky, My husband got Catfish and Shrimp both the catfish and the shrimp was under cooked and salty. Delicious Experience at Gotta Have It Grill and Soul Food! My visit to Gotta Have It Grill and Soul Food in Gardena was fantastic! The cozy and clean ambiance set the stage for a delightful meal.
