I came out because I'm new to the area and it's my birthday. I wanted to support a black owned business. Google recommended this establishment. It was supposed to be a treat. First, all of the food I ordered was flavorful. However, it took forever for the waiter to take each part of my order. I sat for a full 15 minutes before having my drink ordered, and another 10 minutes before it arrived. Then it was another 15 minutes before I could order my appetizer and meal. There were plenty of employees floating about, but it looked like there was only one very young man working the tables. I ordered the eggrolls which were lovely. I also ordered. the steak & mash which was $37.00 worth of trash! I contemplated sending it back, but figured that this wasn't the kind of establishment that would respond well to a critique of that sort. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium. It was cooked to within an inch of its life, just short of beef jerky. Also, this "steak" was incredibly thin. It looked like they took a regular ribeye steak and shaved it into 3 pieces to sell individually. It was served on a mound of mash potatoes large enough for 4 people. As I said, it was seasoned well and I was hungry so, I ate it (not all of those mashed potatoes). A Very Disappointing dining experience. As for the "entertainment," the whole 2+ hours I was present, there was no live music as advertised, and no karaoke. They were playing very loud contemporary music and the DJ did interject from time to time. He encouraged line dancing towards the end of my dining experience. What can I say Gotti's brought some good energy on a Sunday Funday! There was no shortage of atmosphere here with the DJ keep the patrons cooking! My only issue is the organization of reservations. They seemed to have an issue with keeping patrons to their two hour table limit. At one point there was a bottle neck of customers hanging at the entrance that all seemed to have the same 2pm reservation that my party had. This caused a 30 min or so delay but once they cleared everyone out that had overstayed their welcome things only elevated from there. Needless to say I'll be back for more soon Gotti's. I got the fried chicken and red velvet waffles and Beignets let me tell you them suckas were off the chain!! Gotti's was referred to me by a family friend. My wife and I went for brunch on Sunday. Unless you wan to take a chance and park on the street, there's a paid parking lot in the next block. Once we arrived we were seated immediately. We looked over the brunch menu and we decided on Red velvet waffles and chicken with fruit for my wife and I had the Rack of lamb and Cajun grits. The lamb was cooked to my liking but the grits were a little stiff but not objectionable. She enjoyed her waffles. We also had a carafe of mimosas which very good. While we were eating we they had a bingo game which was free to play and they gave away a prize. I don't know what it was as neither of us won. My friends ordered VEGAN burgers, the waiter messed up the order. It took 20 minutes to get drinks. I order one side of fries which takes 30 minutes to finally make it to the table. By the time I got them, I wasn't even hungry anymore. Once we finally had the opportunity to get our food, we were all in agreement that the food was mediocre at best. OK for starters, it's a little bit difficult to find off the beaten path but you can definitely tell by the music outside what's going on it's definitely a vibe if your Instagram or or a social media person you're going to love all the backdrops. All the colors and TVs and stuff, however the space was a bit hot for me and my wife I would think at the prices that they would have a little bit more air conditioning. It was my first time visiting HTX and I would definitely visit this place again! The staff were nice and professional. Unfortunately, I had placed a food order before the kitchen closed and a waiter/waitress didn't come to my table; management was able to sort out the issue overall. It was Taco Tuesday and they had $5 PREMIUM tequila. That was phenomenal. When my issue started or with the time it took to bring the food to the table. We ordered two chicken tacos and it took about 25 minutes for those to arrive. That should have been a hint on the entree timing. 35 minutes later after ordering our entree they told us that they no longer had the pasta that we had ordered. They ran out of it or something along those lines.. it took an additional 15 minutes for me to get my chicken fried chicken and our substituted order of chicken wings. Diamond, our server was accommodating, helpful, empathetic, and efficient while communicating and serving us. Their ambiance is inviting and low-key. It allows you to chill or if the mood strikes, dance a little. The music is great and it's not overwhelming. I will be back because I think it was just an off night for me. I wanted to try a nice lunch and support a new business. I found out about Gotti's on TikTok. I should have known what to expect when I saw the grass wall with neon sign and menu with lamb chops. The same stuff just different name. We had the lamb chops which were very small over a bed of dirty rice which was pretty good ($34.99). The portions are very small. We also had the fried lobster over seafood rice which was decent, but not excellent or worth ($34.99). Our drinks were watered down and weak for $14 and $16 per drink. Of course they added 20% automatic gratuity. Overall the decorations are nice. The food is average and the service is poor. There were only (2) people eating when I went and the wait times were 20 minutes for a drink, and 32 minutes for food. There was nothing special that would keep me coming back. But here's where Gotti's drops the ball--ticket time. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Coming from a food service vet, waiting an hour for three orders of snow crab legs with maybe two or four tables in the place? Crazy. Either they're stalling to avoid sending out too many snow crabs for their unlimited special, or someone back there has no idea what they're doing. Either way, it needs to be addressed, like, yesterday. I'll admit--I've been back three times, so yeah, the food's good enough to make me come back for more punishment. But here's the real: I've never seen a floor manager, an owner, nobody stepping in to elevate the experience. And while the service doesn't need much improvement, it'd be nice to see some accountability on those ticket times. I'm just saying, if this place ever gets full? It's gonna be disaster for the waitstaff. As a server, I'd hate to have my tips truncated because the kitchen couldn't keep up. I made a reservation at Gotti's for 28 people on 4/4 at 2:30pm to celebrate my mother's birthday. We chose this place because it's Black-owned and the food looked amazing. Unfortunately, looks were all we got--because we never even got the chance to sit down. We arrived early at 2:15pm, and were told by a man (no name, no title--just vibes) that they'd "start getting the tables together." That was my first red flag. Why are tables being started at 2:15 for a 2:30 reservation? At 2:30, when I checked in again, I was told they still weren't ready. By 2:45, they said 6 or 7 people could be seated while they "finished" setting up. The rest of us? Still outside, still waiting... like we didn't have a reservation made in advance. At 3:00pm, the remaining guests were offered some random tables--not near the others and not even enough space to accommodate us. So by 3:15, we were out. Left. Walked away from what was supposed to be a joyful birthday celebration. Not only were we never seated, we never received an apology. No manager came to speak with us. No real solutions were offered. Just a whole lot of unpreparedness and unmet expectations. I understand that it's Houston and Sundays are busy--but don't accept large reservations if you know you can't handle them. Simple. We came to support, spend money, and celebrate, and instead we were met with poor communication and no accountability. This was everyone's first time at Gotti's. I stopped by Gotti's for dinner on a weekday with my dad. Located in EaDo, Gotti's is in the heart of East Downtown close to Truck Yard, 8th Wonder, Rodeo Goat, etc. Parking can be a bit iffy in the area but you can find street parking if you try hard enough. One thing I like about Gotti's is that they have an extensive happy hour on both food and drinks. Plus daily specials. I'm a sucker for a good deal! After splitting a bottle of rose, we started off with some happy hour appetizers including their loaded fries and catfish nuggets. Gotti's specializes in Cajun food so the food definitely had a kick to it. The loaded fries were too spicy for me but they may not be for you as I can only handle white boy spicy. From there, we both had the lobster which comes with a generous portion of dirty rice. The food, overall, was just average in my opinion. On the other hand, the service was friendly. We were disappointed to find out we were unable to order the Fried Lobster with the Seafood rice due to it not being on their brunch menu. We settled for catfish & grits, chicken & red velvet waffles, and macaroni and greens as sides. For drinks, we had a mimosa carafe. It took a while to receive our food, probably about 30 minutes, but everything was extremely fresh & hot, which we really appreciated. The fried chicken stole the show. Easily some of the best chicken I've ever had. The catfish & grits were good as well. The greens had great potential, but they were very spicy. I personally didn't care for the macaroni at all. I discovered Gotti's on Tiktok and had no idea it was across from Little Woodrow's in EaDo. It was a lot smaller than I expected and the overall service was super slow. To our surprise they do brunch bingo but we never got the markers so I had to get creative with hand sanitizer. We ordered the mimosa champagne tower which was perfect for our group of three. I ordered the catfish and grits and the food came pretty fast but the grits were super thick like they'd been sitting for a while.
