7 of my friends visited this past Sunday for our 1pm reservation for brunch and bingo! Only to find out they had 2 rounds of bingo earlier within the day. We even called the day before to verify the time of bingo plus it was stated on their website that it started at 1pm. So, we are very disappointing about that. Some of our food was cold. I had catfish and grits seems like it could of been really good but I can't eat cold food. My friend enjoyed the wings. We ordered the infused mimosa tower which comes with 8 shots of liquor. Fortunately, I spoke with the manager, Angel, who was kind enough to get my partner and me seated quickly. After being seated, we waited over 25 minutes without any acknowledgment from a server. I eventually flagged down another waiter to find out who was assigned to our table. Our server finally arrived and apologized for the delay. We ordered a hookah and a bottle of champagne--Andre Brut, which wholesales for around \$1.50 but is priced at $30 at the restaurant. Both items arrived promptly, which gave us hope for a better experience moving forward. Unfortunately, it took another 15 minutes before the server returned to take our food order. Once we ordered, we waited over an hour for the food to arrive. I spoke with Angel again, and she let us know that our appetizers were never entered into the system and kindly offered to comp them. By this point, we had been there for about an hour and a half and were understandably frustrated. We requested our food to-go and asked for the check. When the server brought the handheld payment device, he didn't show us the itemized breakdown I had requested. The screen was turned toward us on the tip prompt, and I felt pressured to leave one. I ended up tipping $15 because of his great energy & attitude, but I'm still unsure if gratuity was already included. We initially came to try Gotti's with the intent of potentially recommending it to our food reviewers that are apart of our agency visiting Houston soon. Against my rule to not patron "automatic 18%-20% gratuity" establishments, I reserved and arrived to Gotti's for/with a friend at 6:30p (8/18/24). The honey hot wings I ordered took forever to cook bc "They [cooks&waitress] didn't know how frozen they were." 7:20p- I flag down any server I could and asked them to cancel my order. The atmosphere is great but it feels like it's overcompensating for the super long wait times. the music was insanely loud i could barely hear my husband who was a FOOT away from me. It took 20 mins just to get a drink and another 30 mins for just an appetizer and half of my order. We asked for gumbo and Lamb chops and after the 40 min wait it still wasn't fully done. Me and my husband had already tried coming here once and it took 30 mins for a waiter to even come take our drink order. But we figured we'd try again when it wasn't so busy, but it was the same thing. the staff seem to just be listening to the music and sitting and chitchatting instead of working! The gumbo was salty and looked more like a cup size rather than a bowl (like i ordered). our server was cool and very apologetic about the wait but regardless we had to leave. The dj was live and jammin from the time we entered creating such a fun and hype brunch! As I waited on my friend to arrive, it did take a little while for someone to greet me and bring out the drink, but you wouldn't have really noticed bc again the dj was jammin! The one thing I noticed and enjoyed the most was the dj kept the brunch going and interactive, we played bingo and you could win a drink for yourself and through additional rounds the table! So that was cool that everyone was all for bingo! I ordered the chicken wings bc it just seemed the way to go, but I wanted a side of fries and they don't serve that during brunch. After looking at pics, the waffle fries looked soooo good, so I'm sad I didn't get to try them. But this chicken!! This chicken was sooooooo good!! I went for Happy Hour to find out that was fake. They posted things on the Happy Hour menu and then the priced changed when they brought the bill. I had lunch here last week while in the area. My order was for a bowl of the chicken and sausage gumbo for $14 and had them add shrimp for another $2. The food was delivered less than 10 minutes later. The first thing I noticed was that the amount of gumbo didn't come close to filling the bowl. It looked like I was shorted a few spoonfuls. Taste wise the gumbo had a dark roux that was flavorful and the content amount was acceptable. The added shrimp didn't amount to much and even though it was only $2 extra I didn't think it was worth it. I visited Gotti's for a late lunch on a weekend. It provides a very similar vibe to other local restaurants. There was a DJ and hookah available. My drink was delicious. I ordered the blackened shrimp with dirty rice which is associated with an up charge. The portion size seems small upon presentation but after finishing my meal I felt full. This restaurant is interesting not amazing, but definitely more than tolerable with great service. Blacked owned vibes and I am here for it! The fried pickles were okay the pickles are huge for the thickness of the batter. The owner and server Lauren were great about remaking them for us, I loved that. Lauren was great all around and had a great attitude. It says a lot about the culture of this environment. The lamb chop lollipops were nothing short of an extravaganza on my taste buds and the dirty rice was a great compliment to the course. My wife said her pasta was over seasoned, but she enjoyed it. Outside of the food I disagree with their gratuity, we spent $85 just me and her. With a party of 4 each individual checks and they included an automatic gratuity which is different than I am used to. Went for Sunday Brunch with a group. Parking is not the easiest at this location. If you get there early you may be able to find street parking. If not there are lots nearby, but they can be pricey. I ordered the red velvet chicken & waffles with the signature Gotti Punch. It was very good, the chicken came out piping hot. I did have to ask for butter (as did everyone else that ordered waffles). I think it should be a given that butter is served with waffles. The menu prices were average for some options, but there were others that seemed a bit pricey. The vibe was excellent! The DJ kept the party lit and everyone in the place enjoyed the music. There were a couple of rounds of brunch bingo that made for a good time. As part of a large party, I expected the gratuity added to the bill. What I didn't expect was that there would be an option to add an additional tip on my personal check. No thank you, I'm not tipping twice. Nice restaurant if you want to go for a fun vibe. Hookah, mimosa carafes & towers with great music. I was in Houston recently and had a craving for Cajun food, so I decided to try Gotti's. Let me just say upfront: I won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend it. First issue--parking. You have to pay for street parking, which is already a small headache before you even walk in. The inside of the restaurant is nice, clean, and the staff were friendly. The food was good--not amazing, but solid. Then came the bill, and that's where everything went downhill. They automatically added a 12% gratuity AND an 8% service fee--without saying a word. That's 20% added to your bill before you even decide how the service was. I didn't catch it in time and added an extra $8 tip on top, so what should've been a $110 meal cost me $154. That's ridiculous. I have no problem tipping well--I always do--but forcing a 12% tip regardless of service, then stacking another 8% fee on top? That's just greedy. What exactly is the 8% service fee even for? It's clear the owners don't want to pay their staff and are trying to make the customers cover their expenses. That's not how a well-run restaurant operates. To the owner: Stop being cheap. Pay your employees a fair wage instead of hiding behind bogus charges. Disappointed Dining Experience After the NBA Draft Party We attended the NBA Draft party at the Toyota Center and decided to try this place for the first time. While the staff was friendly--especially Trey, who was very kind--our overall experience left much to be desired. Food and Pricing The food was extremely expensive for the small portions we received. My daughter ordered the Voodoo Wings, which normally comes with fries. She requested rice instead, and they allowed the substitution without informing us it would cost extra. Only when the bill came did we find out there was an additional charge for the rice. I ordered shrimp and waffle fries, along with a side of six grilled shrimp. The menu said $6, but it turned out that was the price for only three shrimp, so I ended up paying $12 just for six shrimp. Honestly, we could have just ordered another full meal for what we ended up paying. My granddaughter and I each got a glass of lemonade. At $4 a glass, I expected something better. She accidentally spilled hers, and while the staff was quick to clean it up (which I appreciated), no one offered to refill it. I gave her mine since she's only six and we don't give her much sugar anyway--and I didn't care for the taste. Hidden Fees and Charges The total bill for just two meals and a side of shrimp came to over $80. Several unexpected fees were tacked on. When we asked the staff, one gentleman explained that the fees were essentially pooled tips for the waitstaff--so basically a mandatory gratuity. There were additional charges too, but I can't even remember what they were all for. None of this was communicated upfront. Service and Atmosphere The service was slow, despite the restaurant being far from busy. When we arrived, there were only a handful of other tables occupied--definitely not a crowd. Yet our food took a long time to arrive and was lukewarm at best. The flavor was good, but nothing came out hot, which was disappointing. Lighting in the restaurant was poor, and the font on the menu was so tiny that it was nearly impossible to read the prices clearly. That might be part of why the charges caught us off guard. Accessibility and Final Thoughts One big issue for us: the place is not ADA-friendly. You have to walk up stairs to get in, which could be a real problem for anyone with mobility issues. If you're just looking for a spot to watch a game and grab drinks, this place might work for you. But if you're planning a family meal and don't want to break the bank, I'd look elsewhere. After she walked away, we waited for about 10-15 minutes before flagging down another waiter. We were able to place both our drink and food orders at 2:30 p.m. Sadly, it only got worse from there. Our drinks took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and during that time, we watched an employee photograph and record our drinks for social media content. While I understand the desire for Instagram-worthy moments, it felt like the staff's priorities were out of order. Our drinks, a Watermelon Lemon Drop and a margarita (forgot the name), were average. Like most vibe-dining restaurants, the drinks were mostly juice and mixers, with very little alcohol to balance them out. At 3:15 p.m., we asked our waiter how much longer it would be for our food, and he mentioned they were behind. At 3:45 p.m., we asked again, only to be told that the food was on its way and that a discount would be applied due to the wait. By 4:00 p.m., after waiting for an hour and a half and still not receiving our food, we decided to cancel the order. We paid for our drinks and left. It's unacceptable to wait for two hours and leave without any food. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but the combination of poor service, long wait times, and lack of communication made this birthday celebration one to forget. Hello, I came to visit this location for my birthday dinner and I thought it was OK but I've experienced better at other places. They opened at around 7 PM on a Monday and we had to wait almost 2 hours for the food to get ready. I ordered the fried lobster pasta, but the pasta never became ready and I had to change to fried rice. I thought this was an inconvenience because I wanted to try the pasta. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops and he thought it was good but the portions were small. Our dinner was a total of 120 something with gratuity added as well automatically. I do wanna add that I became a little sick waiting on my food because it took so long so you may wanna keep in mind if you are hungry or taking meds. The parking was limited so be mindful of the parking. Overall, I would give this place a 2 out of 10.. It did have a vibe in there. They served hookah. The music was too loud & I didn't appreciate the constant sexual music. The food was overcooked & lacked flavor. The service was also really bad, the wait to get our food was too long & I saw people leaving before getting their own food due to long wait times & the atmosphere. Also I've never heard of 12% tips being automatically applied to the bill, this concept is very new to me & threw me off.
