Spaghetti and meatball: Spicy and decent, the best plate
    Marc D.

Solid backup plan, not a destination. We landed at Delacosa after bailing on a louder spot down the block, walked in before 5pm, and got seated right away at a comfortable window table. Friendly, attentive staff from the start. We split a few things. The Happy Hour margarita pizza was okay but forgettable. The beet salad was big enough for two, but the beets tasted canned, which is hard to ignore when beets are the whole point. The spaghetti and meatball had a nice kick and was the most enjoyable plate, but still landed at average. Draft beers were fine, not craft. The wine was okay. They run a full bar if that's your thing. The room itself is comfortable, casual dress, open kitchen, communal tables, a glassed-in patio out front. The one knock on the vibe: the music ran loud for the size of the space, which got everyone talking louder to compete. Average ambiance because of it. If you want to actually hear the person across from you, this isn't the quiet option. Logistics are the easy part. It's a short walk from BART, so transit is a non-issue. Parking nearby is the catch, there's basically none, so take BART if you can. No reservations needed; we walked in cold and never waited. Happy hour gets you the cheaper pizza and small plates, which is when the value makes the most sense. If you're near Union Square and just need a casual sit-down with a full bar and no wait, it works. Order the spaghetti and meatball, skip the beet salad, and go before the dinner crowd if you care about noise. I didn't feel a pull to return.

We came in for happy hour but that part of the menu didn't have too many options so we ended up ordering from the regular menu spot. There was lots of seating and not too busy around the time we came in. The burrata and bruschetta appetizer was pretty tasty with the crunchy bread and savory cheese drenched in honey. It felt like I was eating dessert before my dinner. I enjoyed eating the pasta the most. The sauce was flavorful and the pasta type paired well with it. The pizza was ok, it wasn't my favorite. I felt like it lacked sauce and was pretty dry. I couldn't even finish the crust which I usually have no problem doing.

Came here as a party of 8 for dinner on a Saturday night. I've walked past here many times, but this was my first time dining here, and would have never come here if it wasn't for friends. I got the hanger steak, which was very good. Though I ordered it rare, they mistakenly brought me medium rare, and I firmly had to repeat that I ordered rare. They went back to correct my order, and I waited about 10 minutes before they brought me back my corrected order.

I've been to Delarosa multiple times for both lunch and dinner. The drinks and food are always - from the boozy and NA drinks to the apps to the entrees and pizzas to the desserts (which I admittedly don't seem to order often enough since everything else is already so filling). Most times I've been able to come here without a reservation or with only a reasonable wait. That being said, this particular location is downtown and near Moscone Center, so it can get super busy and crowded after work or when there's a large event or conference happening nearby, so plan accordingly. It's a great spot for both small and large groups, with bar seating, private tables, and communal tables, and the staff are friendly.

We arrived on Saturday night after our friends were able to snag a table for 8 people. The table was outside which was perfect since the weather was really nice. There was a very large line at 6:50pm but 20 minutes earlier, there wasn't a line when our friends got there. Apparently, this place has been here for years and is our friends' go to spot for an Italian family dinner. They make the trek all the way from the Richmond district every once in awhile to enjoy their appetizers, pizzas, and pastas. Now that we've tried them, I can see why! After we sat, some yummy appetizers (Meatballs and Burrata Bruschetta) hit the table and the bartender came by to drop off drinks. He said he was supposed to be behind the bar and couldn't take our food order. A few minutes later, he came back and said he was going to help us out. We ordered the Beet Salad and a pizza plus a bottle of wine. Then later when we were able to get the attention of someone, we ordered even more pizza. I was super excited that they had gluten free pizza! I got the spicy Bartender pizza with the burrata and it was delicious. My son loved their Burrata Bruschetta so much, we ordered another one. The others raved about their Hot Honey pizza. I think we ended up with three of them as the night went on. They have an incredible kids pizza that's so big, it's good enough for two kids to share and costs only $13. Their menu prices are actually very reasonable. As tables cleared, a server was more accessible. He checked on us a few times and brought our drinks. We asked him about a birthday candle and which desserts were good. This last server was very personable and friendly while the manager wasn't very personable at all. He recommended two desserts so we rounded out the evening with the Tiramisu and two Flourless Chocolate Cakes, one with a birthday candle. The Flourless Chocolate Cake was delicious with my two Espresso Martinis!

Delarosa is the bomb. The food, service, atmosphere, and location are incredible. Pizza was insanely delicious. Huge bravo all around for our casual after-the-AMC-movie-at-the-Metreon tonight!!!! A+++++++++!!!!

Stopped by here after seeing "The Devil Wears Prada." We were and little hungry. They have a pretty good HH. We got a couple of apps and some drinks. We ate outside as it was a pretty day out.

Date of Visit: 1/31/2026 We visited the Italian restaurant Delarosa located in Yerba Buena Lane in San Francisco at the end of January. Delarosa offers the beloved Roman style pizza, small plates, craft beer and cocktails. They also have the great Happy Hour every day from 2pm to 6pm. We were sat outside beneath a heater at around 5:45pm and we ordered the Happy Hour menu right away. Espresso Martini $10 I got the espresso martini from the happy hour menu made with Vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, bitters. Salty Dog $8 Husband ordered he salty dog with vodka, elderflower, and grapefruit. Very fresh and refreshing. Pizzetta Margherita $10 We ordered this pizza from the Happy Hour menu made with Marinara, basil, and mozzarella. Thin crusted pizza which was very crispy! Penne Portabelo $23 Also highly recommend the penne pasta with cream sauce, portobello mushroom, sausage, chicken, and roasted garlic.

The location is a cute, modernly decorated space. Not sure I understand San Fran's obsession with backless stools as chairs. The service was timely but rather cold. They seemed annoyed by customers. I started with onion focaccia and the winter salad. The focaccia had a wonderful mix of rosemary and butter with slightly caramelized onions...super yum! The salad had a good flavor ... yet the pecans were just short of burnt and the lettuce leaves needed to be cut as they were too large to eat. The meatballs had a herby flavor and the tomato sauce was deep and robust.

Stopped by for a late lunch and stubbled upon their happy hour (2-6pm) with entrée's are $10 and some drinks at reduced price. Patio was perfect with shade and quiet. Service was fast, definitely recommend if in the area.

Had dinner here today Cab Franc was ok, the bartender Made a nice cocktail with Mezcal For appetizer, we ordered Onion Focaccia which was good We got Fungi pizza with red sauce and it was really good, well done as we like it The ambiance is good. Service was below average (our server was going through the motions of asking everything to finish the checklist). They did not seem glad customers were there, only interested in turn over

I came here a while back but decided to stumble upon it again today for its girl dinner $25 for dirty martini, salad and fries deal. When we went up to the host, he asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar or the table behind him and we asked him to clarify where the table was and he completely ignored us. Honestly it was SO RUDE. We also were looking at the girl dinner meal in our hand and he took it straight from my hand and was going to put it back in the pile with the menus. I had asked him if we could keep it and he said sure but they'll give it to u at the bar too but it a mean way. They in fact did not give that menu at the bar so I was glad that I had asked for it from the service. The deal overall was good though. It was pretty filling but the dirty martini was strong. The bar staff were also nice but I was still extremely turned off by the host.

I got the pizza and the calamari here. The pizza was just okay, nothing stood out on it and the flavors weren't as harmonious as I would have liked. The calamari was crispier and has good flavor, and I appreciated the burnt lemon. Nothing was bad here, but nothing absolutely standout.

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

The sandwich comes with a small dressed salad and three tomato halves. It was nice. The potatoes served with the sandwich were roasted but served cold and dry. Like they were left over from the night before. Randy enjoyed his mocha. We shared a very dry, flavorless except for the two small bits of jam in them, "cheese" danish. Definitely skip this $7 item that you could get at a circle k for $1.50 and it would taste fresher. You order when you walk in and someone delivers your order and then you're left to fend for yourself. We were able to locate some ketchup for the potatoes on our own. Nobody ever checked on us. This is the second place on this visit that's charging an extra 5% fee so that their employees can have a living wage and health insurance, which absolutely, every employee should have. With the prices they charge, they should already be able to do that, though. I read an article about this fee with many different names and I would rather pay a bit higher of a price and know the employees were taken care of than be surprised by this fee later. Two sandwich breakfasts, a mocha and a danish on top of tax and their healthy sf fee was $63. Steep for the quality we got. Won't be back.

I have to preface my review by stating I absolutely adore Catholic art, antiques, relics and such,…read moreso this definitely influenced my decision to check this place out; but I am beyond happy that my curiosity led me here. The ambiance was perfect for a nightcap. I visited Holy Water with relatives who live in the area but hadn't visited the place themselves before. Drinks we ordered include: * Mexican Firing Squad - Our favorite of all. We are classic paloma cocktail lovers, and this drink provided everything we enjoy in a paloma and more. Tart, smooth, and all-around divine. * Southern Exposure - The celery in this really awakens the senses. Very refreshing. * Zombie - Boldest drink we've tried yet. Haunted us the remainder of the night (in a good way). * Poinsettia - Wish this wasn't just a holiday menu item. It's fabulous. * Caribbean Snow Day - The playful kid's cup this came served in had us fooled. This eggnog sure packed a punch. Can't wait to be back and check out what other rotating or seasonal drinks they provide. Lastly, major shout out to the hard-working bartender last night who provided kind, prompt and attentive service on top of greeting all patrons coming in, taking orders and bussing tables. You rock!

It's also a fantastic spot to catch a happy hour drink before the sun goes down. The bartenders are amicable and the bar is dark and moody - perfect for a drink to unwind and catch up with friends or colleagues.

It comes already sweetened and no adjustments can be made, only added. I thought it was pretty decent, I do enjoy the soybean and matcha powder they sprinkle on the top. Definitely on the less sweet side so I appreciated that. As for the matcha flavor, it tasted pretty standard to me. Definitely nice how they have an indoor and outdoor area. The outdoor area gets pretty hot since it's similar to a greenhouse but nice for photos. We ended up coming back inside since it was too hot outside. The inside spots definitely fill up fast due to the AC and nice ambience but we were lucky someone had just left. Super nice spot to just chill or have a date!

I pretty much try any creamy drink that has a whipped egg white. This was an amazing drink, bright citrus, smokey whiskey, and a creamyness from the egg. Next the Miran Miyagi oysters were very fresh, I forgot what was in it, but there was some crunchy bits for texture and there was also a good kick of spice. The Hojicha Affogato was their dessert, and it was also great. It had dark chocolate gelato and a raspberry compote. I came back to try the Matcha Einspanner since I heard good things about it. I never had one before, but if they're all like this, then I love einspanners. It had a super thick whipped cream with a nice high quality matcha. The service was also very friendly. And since this is a bar/ cafe, it's super chill vibes.
