I went to Ferry Fest today and my friend and I decided to get an early dinner before the last band started. The long line was expected but it went fairly quickly. The woman at the counter was really friendly. I used to work retail and dealing with customers, even at the start of the shift, can wear you down pretty quick. So I gotta give props to her for being positive during this very busy day. I got the crispy hot honey chicken tacos, which is one of this month's specials. It came with delicious sweet corn, cabbage slaw, chipotle mayo, and a cilantro-lime crema. It's basically the flavors of elote with fried chicken and it yummy! The breading on the chicken was even and crisp. And I enjoyed the spicy-sweet flavor of the honey, which complemented the chipotle mayo. I also enjoyed the crunch from the cabbage and the softness of the flour tortilla. I paired with it the fried Brussels sprouts to get another veggie into my meal. Though I do love very charred sprouts, there was a hint of bitterness. I may have needed more lime to cut that. The jalapeño mayo was good. But I think tossing it in pork fat is the way to go with Brussels sprouts to really pump up the flavor. I'm not sure what oil they fry it in. I think I'll stick to their sweet potato fries, which never disappoints. It's always busy there, but it's never too difficult to find a place to sit. It's shared seating, with long tables inside and large tables outside. But my friend and I took it to go so we can have dinner with the show. And the timing was perfect - we didn't wait too long to get our order and we arrived about 20mins before the band started. The quality of Gott's has been consistent over the years across their locations. So it's a tried and true place to get a delicious meal.
Gott's Roadside has a soft serve ice cream shop located at the Ferry Building, offers a delightful combination of cookies and ice cream. As a loyal customer, I make it a point to visit Gott's on my way back home, especially when I crave my favorite flavor, Salted Butter Caramel. While the prices may be a bit steep for ice cream, at $5.95 per scoop, the quality and taste are simply unbeatable.
Closer to a 3.5 rating than anything else. The line for this spot on a weekend afternoon looked manageable but the wait ended up being longer than anticipated. They had 3 or so workers but the setup didn't look conducive to getting through orders quickly, with essentially one person just stationed at the iPad to charge customers. Would have been a higher rating if service was a bit faster & better but still a decent spot I'd revisit. The shop is in the iconic Ferry Building so lots to eat & shop around the area. I had the organic vanilla soft serve with a kid's cone & it was delicious, perfectly creamy & great portion size. Prices are about what you would expect in SF. I would come back to try their dairy-free vanilla soft serve!
Soft serve ice cream. Tried their Straus Vanilla and can definitely stand behind Strauss quality! Will have to come back and try some other flavors. For a little sweet treat, it is not a bad price as most places! Check it out! Also note, they have a "Soft Serve" booth that is completely separate from the restaurant! I have not tried their burgers, but will give it a try at some point.
One of the things we really liked about this place was the nice bar next to it. They had a good selection of wines by the glass, including Rombauer Chardonnay, and the pricing was actually very reasonable. The burger was very full and generously packed with ingredients. The chicken nuggets portion was surprisingly large, and the fries were also very tasty. It was also one of those rare beautiful sunny San Francisco afternoons. Usually whenever we visit the city, the weather is cloudy, so being able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine made the experience even better. The only small negative thing I would mention is that the wait time felt a bit long even though it did not seem overwhelmingly crowded. But honestly, I can understand it, maybe because they prepare everything carefully and fresh. Would I come back again? Absolutely.
I ate here again for the first time in a couple years and was a much bigger fan this time around. I got the monthly special chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was great! The sandwich was massive and kinda hard to eat, but overall it met all my expectations. I do think their fries and some of the other items are a bit bland, but the sandwich was a standout to me. I will also say the soft serve deserves a review of its own - this is some of the best soft serve I've ever had and I truly get it almost any time I go to the ferry building. It really is so good
Food is an excellent value for the area. $35 for my husband and I to get burgers and a fry. (I got a double cheese burger and he got a hamburger). Bun was an excellent brioche with tons of cheese. I loved the pickles and sauce. I'd prefer a medium rare but understand medium is the go-to in a fast food setting. This IS fast food but elevated by the quality. Easy outdoor seating with a water station perfect for the walking we do along the Piers. Four stars because the patio is open and on the sidewalk so it's got an odor that isn't pleasant. We went inside to eat but the patio would be good for having a cold beer and people watching. Service is adequate for a quick burger spot.
stopped by gott's ferry building for lunch with a group, the vietnamese chicken salad was surprisingly good and the fried chicken paired well with the rest of the salad and the dressing! super crunchy and flavorful. the fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and impossible nuggets were all delicious as well. i would recommend ordering ahead and going to eat there! the ferry building location has nice ambiance especially with the open aire seating. would definitely go back for some classic american fare!
THE HOT SAUCE was peak! Dropped by for lunch on Tuesday. The line was short and moved fairly quickly despite the peak lunch hours. What we got: - Chicken Schnitzel ~ Very photogenic. Huge piece of fried chicken breast. Beautiful and colorful, but lacked flavor. Although the generous amount of Arugula was a plus, it overpowered the burger. I ended up eating that first to get my veggies in. The pickled turnips/radish added nothing but color. Halfway through, the burger felt dry and flavorless. The hot sauce came to the rescue! - Western Bacon Blue Ring ~ Solid burger. Juicy burger. Bbq sauce added the perfect tang to balance the blue cheese. Crispy onion rings were a great touch! - Onion Rings ~ MASSIVE. Crunchy on the outside, well-battered rings on the inside. One of the rings was three rings coated and stuck together, which was a decent surprise! - Chili ~ Decent. Very cheesy. All in all, a solid place. But the hot sauce was a gem! Perfect for onion ring dipping or burger drenching!
Good spot for an easy lunch in the Ferry Building area. * Staff at register was unfriendly but took our order quickly. * Kitchen had our orders out quickly & were glad to have beat the weekday lunch rush. Queue was out the door by 12ish * Salad was tasty - I enjoyed it most for all the flavors except the falafel (can be dry).

The grilled pineapple burger is by far one of the best burger I have had. The flavors were so complex and went so well together. The crispy teriyaki chicken was good too but couldn't compare to the pineapple burger. Got a to-go order and Gott's had packed the burger extremely well. Visited SFO for only 3 days of which I had burgers from Gott 2 days in a row. read more

Uh, they have Pliny the Elder on tap. Why are you not running to this place to eat and drink?! Fine, the food is really well made. Our burgers weee delicious but they fell apart at the end. I don't pick up my food with my hands, but I did this time. I got a standard cheeseburger with the fries. I have to admit I didn't pay attention to the food because we met up with a friend who I hadn't seen in five years (pre-pandemic) and the food became the side piece so to speak, but it was very tasty. read more

Delicious burgers and fries, but amazing onion rings. This place was bustling with activity. The line never seemed to shrink. We got in line and it moved surprisingly fast. It seemed like the tables turned over relatively quickly as well. They have a large indoor dining area and a similarly large seating area outside. We grabbed the first spot inside we could find. I learned that Gott's started as a roadside dinner and I would definitely like to go to one of their roadside locations. They are always a James Beard award winning restaurant. We ordered at the counter and sat ourselves. We waited maybe 10 or 15 minutes for our buzzer to go off and grabbed our food from the pickup section. The fries were super crispy and never seemed to go limp; excellent sign. The onion rings were the star. They were huge, full of flavor, and so crispy. The burger was delicious. I didn't expect it to be so big, but alas! It was and it was great! Also, shout out to the Arnold Palmer which was perfection! I also heard great things about their lobster sandwich and their salads looked super good! 100% I would come back for the onion rings and a burger. read more
Gott's Roadside (previously Taylor's Refresher) used to be better. The burgers seem smaller and less flavorful now. The buns were dry and needed mayo or butter. The ingredients were poorly layered and seemed rushed. We had a California Burger $18, bacon cheeseburger $15, garlic fries $5, onion rings $5 and a couple of cokes $3.29. All the food tasted meh. We should have went to the noodle place inside instead. read more
For fast food, I think this is as good as it gets. The tuna tacos were super delicious and fresh, and bright in flavor. The burgers here are also always juicy and flavorful. I got the California burger this time. The garlic fries are also well balanced and not too garlicky. I always come here when near the ferry building if I don't have food plans. read more
Love some soft serve at the Ferry Building as the temps rise? It's a line up pick-up-and-go place at the far westside and they have just a few flavors. I tasted the organic vanilla first and the creaminess made me giddy inside. Then I tasted the salted caramel and was sent to sweet heaven. Not bad for a treat, huh? read more

I ordered the double cheeseburger. They serve them with a little bit of pink in the middle. Most places default to well-done, but this was juicy and tasted like high-quality protein. The buns were solid and they didn't skimp on the sauce, which I always appreciate. We came in with a group of six, So I obviously had to wait a bit for my order. However, I think this place is usually pretty busy, so be prepared to wait for a bit. The staff was kind. For the side, I tried the onion rings. To be fair, I'm not a huge 'onion guy' to begin with, but these tasted a bit underwhelming. If you're like me, you might want to stick to the burger--which is clearly the star of the show anyway. I'd be more inclined to give it a higher score if it didn't cost as much as it did. I'm going to spend $17 for one burger ( not including fries) I need to be super impressed. Overall, a very solid experience and a 7.8 out of 10. I'd recommend it if you're in the area." read more

I've had Gott's a few times but surprisingly never got their original cheeseburger before! I finally got it this time with their sweet potato fries and really enjoyed it. It was a great price for how big it was, and the patty was juicy. Despite it being a busy weekday lunch crowd, there was still plenty of seating and good service. read more
Most of the time, the cashiers are good but a few times, I've had issues with ordering. One time, I asked to confirm that my Caesar Salad would have chicken and no croutons but the guy did the opposite because I was handed a salad without chicken and had croutons. No biggie because there's a particular female food expeditor who is always there and she's great! Anytime I've had a problem with my order, she fixes it quickly. On my recent visit, I had ordered a veggie burger with a gluten free bun and she buzzed me over to explain that the veggie patty had gluten and offered me the Impossible burger which didn't have gluten. I didn't even see that they offered the Impossible burger as an option but I did tell the cashier I had a gluten allergy so I'm not sure why he didn't then let me know about the Impossible patty. I'm really glad she reached out. The Texas Avocado Burger with an Impossible patty was delicious! My husband had the Green Chile Cheeseburger and my son had a regular Cheeseburger, both with Impossible patties because we were not eating meat that day. We also shared some Sweet Potato Fries and Hummus with veggies. The food here is consistently good and I love that they offer wine to go with my burger. I've been eating here for years. They don't disappoint. When the weather is nice, their patio is awesome! read more
'Gott's Roadside', a fitting name for something that tastes like it would be straight from the roadside. Not that it's bad, it's just normal food that you could find at any diner along the highway. Pretty standard fare (burgers, fries, shakes), if that's what you're looking for, Gott's is definitely serviceable. When it comes to flavor, having visited a couple times, the food itself falls on a spectrum of either being too bland or too salty. While not terrible, definitely leaves a bit to be desired. read more
The Gott's Roadside empire just keeps growing and growing, and with their now signature location along the heart of San Francisco's waterfront in the iconic Ferry Building, they know they are in the burger big leagues among all of their peers. It was really this location that put Gott's Roadside on the map, especially since they were born out of the Taylor's Refresher legacy hamburger stand that originated in St. Helena among all of the lush wineries along Highway 29. After taking over the St. Helena restaurant from the Taylors in 1999, brothers Joel and Duncan Gott turned that one stand into a mini-chain with multiple locations throughout the Bay Area, which all started with this second location along the Embarcadero in what is arguably the city's most famous public building. 26 years later and Gott's Roadside is not only thriving in their location, it was their success here along the waterfront that helped keep the Gott's eyes on the prize with an increased expansion with eight locations in the Bay Area and two additional locations coming to the Los Angeles area. What brought me and a group of colleagues to this location on a recent weekday afternoon was we needed a place that could accommodate a large group at the last minute and with the sunny skies out, what better place to eat than at the Ferry Building. Thankfully it wasn't too busy when we arrived after the main lunch hour after 1 p.m. as they were filled with customers but not overrun with them. The menu at this location of Gott's Roadside is separated into categories including The Burgers, Fries & More, Sandwiches, Salads, Soups & Chili, Tacos, Hot Dogs, Wine, Beer, Organic Shakes & More, Beverages, and their Kids Menu. I've had so many of the delicious made to order burgers that they serve at Gott's Roadside including their Texas Avocado Burger and their Wisconsin Burger that with this visit I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and order something a little different so I ordered their Kimchi Burger which featured a fried egg, kimchi, American cheese, Zoe's bacon & spicy gochujang mayo served on a toasted egg bun. To pair with my meal I also ordered their Onion Rings, which are thick, beer-battered, and lightly salted. To complete my order I ordered a 16 ounce fountain soda Root Beer. Everyone else in our party ordered their own burger and salad with the Vietnamese Chicken Salad looking particularly hearty and scrumptious this afternoon. It wouldn't take too long for our large order to be ready to be picked up with our order transponder buzzing with alertness. My burger looked particularly bright shining out in the sun with its fried egg popping out ready to be bitten into runny egg yolk and all. The beef patties at Gott's Roadside are cooked medium well, which gives it a little pink inside when served, which when combined with kimchi, bacon and egg makes for a wonderfully unexpected combination of flavors. With every crunchy bite of my onion rings and a sip of root beer it was yet another worthwhile trip to Gott's Roadside where you never can go wrong with a decadent burger for lunch sitting by the dock of the bay! My portion of the bill came to be $25.27 before tax and gratuity were added in, which was somewhat reasonable considering we were dining in the height of the tourist area of San Francisco where meals don't necessarily come cheap. I do love that Gott's Roadside is still here at the Ferry Building surviving and thriving in even the most challenging of times, so much so that their expansion knows no limits with hearty burgers made with fresh ingredients sold at no more than eighteen dollars that is considered on average these days and I for one am grateful that Gott's Roadside is here to stay! read more
Such a treat every time we are in SF. The flavors and toppings are minimal but wow, it's so delicious. Be careful when you order the chocolate or cherry covered ice cream cone, it will melt fast. Service is so quick, even when there is a line. It's a small vendor at the Embarcadero pier so the ambiance is hustle and bustle with so many tourists. read more

I've always enjoyed Gotts. Usually, I get a Western bacon blue ring burger, but I've had salads, garlic fries, regular fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, impossible burger, ahi burger, chili, and shakes. This time, I went to get just a soft serve ice cream. The guy recommended the salted caramel. It was very satisfying. I have the receipt somewhere, I will definitely write to them directly to compliment not only his recommendation but also his customer service. My mom is pretty picky when she orders anything, and he handled it with perfection. He recommended she mix the caramel with another cream ice cream and have Oreos as the topping. Love this new cookie counter next to Gott's Soft Serve. Their ginger snap cookies are perfectly sweet and spicy, and the bits of crystallized ginger add to the chewiness factor. I'll be back to try more cookie flavors! read more

Tasty fast food at a great location and surprisingly at not-outrageous prices like it usually is in SF. We tried their Garlic fries with a side of orange cream soda and felt super refreshed after a long hike in the city, Would definitely recommend grabbing a drink + finger food while watching the crowd go by. I've also heard great food about their gelato, something to try next time. read more
Gott's Roadside at the ferry building was super spacious with tons of indoor and outdoor seating, but still was packed nonetheless. It is an order by counter and pick up style of restaurant! The workers were friendly, but the food took forever for one burger, chicken tenders, and fries. I have to mention the sauces. The ranch was really good. It's tinted slightly green which interesting! It's a lighter ranch and has a nice flavor to it, great for dipping. Highly recommend with tenders or fries or anything really. The barbecue sauce was not great in my opinion. It was so sweet, kind of like a caramel sauce? It tasted like a cherry bbq sauce. If you like a sweet barbecue sauce then go for it, but this was disappointing as a bbq sauce lover. The garlic fries were so good! You could really taste the garlic, but they ended up being quite soggy. Regardless, the flavor was there and I enjoyed these a lot. Onion rings are usually similar everywhere, and these were no different. Just a thick breading with not a lot of flavor. The burger was just alright. The egg was a nice touch to the California burger, but the caramelized onions were so sweet it was almost kind of sickening. The beef patty was cooked well though! I have mixed feelings for this place because I've been here a few times but this time was meh. We had lunch at Hog Island but wanted to grab another drink and snack on fries as we yap away, but the cashier was a bit rude. Normally when there is beer on tap, there would be cider on tap too, so we asked 'do you have cider on tap?' Cashier quickly snapped and said 'no, we never have tap!' Like we were so stunned by his response that we quickly pivoted and asked for a rose because we didn't want to look at the menu and hold up the line. Honestly if we weren't having such a nice afternoon and didn't want that to ruin our vibez we stayed, but if we hadn't, honestly we would have just left. This has (Gott's) to be one of the best burgers I've had in my life. Gott's is my go-to spot when I'm craving comfort food done right with fast service. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and piled high with fresh toppings. Their garlic fries are a must try, and I would seriously consider a bath in their queso sauce. I also love that they have a solid beer and wine selection, and the outdoor seating makes it a great casual hangout on a sunny day. read more

Lots of seating! Was quick to order and easy to pick up on the other end of the restaurant. We were a group of 5 and everyone enjoyed our sandwiches! Yummy garlic fries, ahi, chicken, and beef options were all so good! Would definitely visit again to try more of the menu! read more

Ordered a rootbeer with vanilla. Got a rootbeer float. Totally chill. I can roll w the punches. Just saw a California seagull. Different than a western seagull. One has a red and black dot on the beak. One just has a red dot. I'll let you guess which is which. read more
My regular Gott's is the St Helena and the Napa one. Took the Ferry over to SF and enjoyed st ahi burger there. It was as tasty as the previous locations I listed. Sweet potato fries and an ice tea finished the lunch. The Ferry bldg was pleasant and we got our food faster that the other locations. No shade there just an observation. read more

Truly this location was a 3.5-4. Girls day out brought us here and we all have eaten here at this chain at the Napa location. For starts, we shared the Plant-based chorizo cheese and chips. Over all it had a great flavor but the plant based chorizo was very noticeable in texture. I mean we knew what we were getting but wanted to try it out as we have friends who try to stick to no meats. Definitely a firm chewy texture and it didn't seem to hold the chorizo seasoning. The burger was definitely your average burger. Nothing too much to rave about. I guess it would hit different if you had adult beverages in your system. Everything hits different when intoxicated. A friend had the chicken tenders. She felt they were a tad on the dry side and were not seasoned well. She ended up eating one and killed maybe half the fires. We all agreed we had a different experience at the Napa location. This one must be hit or miss read more
