Gracious Pig Smokehouse offers a line of smoked, locally sourced meats and made from scratch sides. Rustic, roadside diner with signs and license plate chic, a handful of tables and bar seating inside and ample outdoor seating on patio and porch. Our 3 meat and 2 sides was an ample choice of pulled pork, ribs and wing dings and mac and cheese and corn puddin'. Sides of Kansas City and Alabama sauces. Pulled pork and ribs have a nice rub and Smokey flavor. Wing Dings are whole smoked wings seasoned with yardbird dust, offering a little bit of sweet and heat. The corn puddin' was mishmash of whole corn and chopped up cornbread. The mac had a nice cheesy texture but lacked any flavor except for the sprinkling of paprika on top. The actual cornbread, that came with the meal, was sweet but didn't care for the bits of jalapeños mixed in. Service was friendly and helpful in explaining a number of their items. We liked this place so much we went here back to back nights for dinner. The building has old car/gas station decor and looks really cool. Both days we were seated outside because we had a larger group, if you're going when it's sunny definitely recommend bringing sunscreen. I got the same exact meal both days because it was so good-ribs and wing dings. Ordered the KC sauce and it was good, just tastes like a standard bbq sauce. The macaroni and cheese was incredible, exactly what you'd expect from a good bbq place. My kids also ordered the ribs and cleaned them down to the bone (which is saying something because my kids are picky eaters). Wish they would franchise this place and open one closer to where we live since we were in Myrtle beach for vacation. There is pay to park behind the building where we were able to park the first night, the second time we had to park in a different pay to park lot less that was maybe a block away. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who likes smoked bbq. read more

Had the porchos and boiled peanuts as appetizers. Both amazing. Best boiled peanuts I've ever had. I had the pulled pork and baked beans. Excellent. Husband had the bologna sandwich and macaroni and cheese. All amazing. Great service. Good prices. First of all the bartender Brittany A+! Very knowledgeable about the menu and mixes a good drink! Service was very good also. Chicken, brisket and ribs were all very good for proteins. Mac and cheese A+! Collards and cucumber salad also very good. Only flaw we saw was the corn puddin, while light and fluffy was lacking in corn flavor. Had lunch here with my husband. Really cute inside & out. I had a brisket sandwich & fried okra. Both very good. He had pulled pork sandwich with NC red sauce & potato salad. Said was very good. This place is great. Ate there twice this week and both times everything was good. Brisket was great, and pulled pork could not be any better. Presentation was perfect as well as you can see in photo of brisket. Good choice of sides, although was disappointed that they were out of charred Brussels sprouts both visits. The only thing i would suggest to make it better is that the bread be toasted. Maybe it's just me but a slice of cold bread just did not fit with rest of the meal, but maybe that is just my preference, we will see what others think. Will definitely be going back on my visits to Surfside Beach. I know they have not been open long but hopefully are here to stay. Staff was very attentive both times. read more

Okay says it all. Not bad, not good. When we arrived on an October Friday night, we were told it would be 25 minutes. That was okay, so we ordered a take out and had a beer outside while we waited. My husband ordered me a Michelob Ultra but bartender poured a PBR. No big deal except I can only drink low alcohol beer. Oh well. Our take out food arrived, and there were many vacant tables, so we got one overlooking the street and ate. Lively atmosphere at the beach. My sandwich was supposed to be on a Texas cornbread bread. It was on marbled rye which is not my favorite. Oh well again. If that's my biggest problem, lucky me. My husband's bbq wasn't anything to write home about. The fried okra was good, probably the best thing. Probably won't return even though we live a half a block away. Hope they do well as the location is good, but not gourmet. read more

We've been eating seafood the whole week we stayed in the south strand so had a craving for BBQ. This place was fabulous! Loved the vibe and portions were perfect. Went there for lunch I.e. good barbecue and we were not disappointed. Typical joint with small bar and maybe seven tables indoors. Plenty of outside tables. Both got the pulled pork on a toasted brioche bun with a side of cole slaw to put on your bun. We are partial to NC vinegar sauce. There's was a nice ted and not to tart. One and done. Husband and I both got sick within 1/2 hr of leaving. Mac n cheese was the common denominator. It wasn't even good and was bland. Husband got brisket. No smoke rings and cut way too thick. Flavorless according to him. Cole slaw was not good either. Also very bland. I got 1/2 smoked chicken. That was flavorful, skin was crispy and meat was not dry. This is easily the best bbq on the grand strand. The ribs had an impressive bark and great flavor. The reaper sauce and Alabama white sauce were amazing. I had potato salad and corn pudding and both were exceptional and exactly what I wanted. My wife had pork tacos and agreed it was the best in the area. My two complaints are: 1. although the brisket was perfectly done, the serving size was literally one slice. I understand that brisket is expensive right now, but charge more for it and give an appropriate portion. I took my parents here while they were visiting and I was embarrassed when my mom got one slice of brisket as her meal. 2. The ribs were overcooked. I couldn't bite the rib since all the meat fell off when I picked it up. Overall I look forward to trying more things on the menu and definitely finding more food to put that Alabama white sauce on. I'm a local and we ate here when it first opened. Couldn't wait since we loved their sister restaurant Pizza Hyena. It was fabulous initially but the past few times, it just seemed to be getting a little worse each time. Today was not good. The pork basically had no flavor even with the added sauce. The corn pudding was mostly bread pudding with a few kernels of corn. It was good but not like their corn pudding initially. The okra was cold and mushy. They did give us another batch which was hot and crispy so thumbs up for that. Our server was very nice and attentive but only would give me a half glass of soda so I kept having to ask for more. Great outside dining. Not sure we will return here though. There are other barbecue places that are much better. read more

We wanted some good bbq for dinner and this place didn't disappoint! The brisket was so tender and moist and the Mac and cheese was creamy and had a good cheesy flavor. My daughter and her friend and my wife got Ribs and they were fall off the bone ribs! They loved it! My daughter got the Brussels spouts and she said they were also very good! We got there a little later and they quoted us about 40 min wait, though there were empty tables and tables that needed o be cleared, however the wait was not that long. Maybe 10-15 min which wasn't bad. My daughter and her friend occupied themselves with the oversized connect 4 game in the yard next the building. So they enjoyed that. Service was good, though people that came in after us were served before us. But it wasn't a big deal. Just a pet peeve of mine. The server was friendly and polite and the food came out timely. The decor is like a rustic roadhouse ambiance keeping with a traditional bbq place. The only thing they ran out of was the pulled pork. My wife initially was looking forward to that, but she got the ribs and as I said was very pleased. It was a good experience and we would definitely go back. read more

I was down in June and this place was still under construction. I returned in September for a training trip and saw it had finally opened. Arrived around 6:30pm and was seated right away on the front patio. Ordered 3 meats and 2 sides plate; smoked brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage. For the sides I ordered French fries and coleslaw. Brisket and pulled pork were very flavorful and tender. The smoked sausage almost seemed like a jalapeño cheddar stuffed sausage. It wasn't bad either. The fries were just a breaded style and the coleslaw was the creamy style. Both were also good. My girlfriend ordered smoked turkey, pork ribs, and pulled pork. Her sides were fried Okra and roasted potato medley. Turkey was very flavorful and the ribs were fall off the bone. Okra and the potato medley were delicious. Only recommendation for them is to put an awning or something over the front patio so they can hang fans to make it harder for the flies to get around. Felt like we were constantly chasing flies off while we were eating. Other than that, I will be coming back on my next vacation. read more

Oh gracious where do I start? We are locals. We love pizza hyena go there frequently. We were hoping to love this restaurant as well since it's same owner. I got the bbq and sausage. The bbq small portion for the money, dry, no flavor. My neighbor got ribs and sausage, no flavor and overcooked. My wife got Caesar salad and what a disappointment. A bunch of lettuce, lots of corn, few jalapeños, not worth 14$. Then you add $3 for finely chopped turkey that you can hardly taste because the portion is so small. Kids meals were 2 overcooked chicken tenders for 10$. The quality is not here. The quantity for the money is not there. Hopefully it can improve. We ordered a pizza when we left. read more

We were told about this place by a friend. We got a two meat dinner and some sides. The two meat dinner consisted of wings and pork ribs. Both were very dry - I've never had such dry wings. I understand that the smoking/BBQ process drys some but both were bad. We got these around 7pm so it might of been late in the day. You might want to add some other BBQ like sides such as baked beans and corn bread. read more
