Made the mistake of ordering the southwest Caesar salad. The corn was microwaved to the point of almost popcorn? Had a pathetic amount of cheese that was just sprinkled on. Missing croutons. The fried jalapeño were great buuuut I was basically eating jalapeños and lettuce. Other in my group liked their BBQ sandwiches but not the sides. Over all, I should have known better when ordering. At the recommendation of our Airbnb host, we dined at the Gracious Pig tonight. It was excellent! My husband had the ribs and said they were the best he has had... get there early because once they sell out, they are gone! Very well done with a good BBQ feel. I had the meat (ribs) and two while my wife had the smoked turkey sandwich. The 3-bone ribs were good with the SC mustard sauce. The meat was nicely done, firm to the bite and tender, but very dry. Maybe held too long or an over-done reheat. The turkey, as other have mentioned, was the real deal with great smoke flavor. Also a little dry but not bad. The stars were the sides. The collards had a nice spice kick to them and great flavor. The mac and cheese is not a lo-cal option but creamy and delicious. This is a well done concept. They know what they want to be, and they are exactly that. A non-pretentious barbecue joint where the food takes center stage and the staff plays a supporting role. The decor is a rustic/barn type and it is comfortable and welcoming. It is not a big place, and we visited about 11:30 during cold winter season, with construction happening out front- but by 12:00 noon every seat was full. Our server Jess was friendly and accommodating, recommending the fried okra and the corn pudding. Sadly they were out of butter beans & Brussels sprouts - that was disappointing but we are living in tough times for food distribution.... We all ordered drinks, 2 pig punch mules & a Surfside madras. They were delivered quickly, presented in Deep Eddy metal drink cans (very cool) and they were delicious! We started with the deviled eggs which were exactly as expected. Freshly prepared delicacies garnished with crisp diced bacon, chopped scallions and a pickled okra bonus item! An excellent, shareable, affordable item. The six deviled eggs were devoured immediately by our party of three, with each of us licking our chops and commenting on the savory deliciousness! Our entree food took about 11 minutes and was delivered hot and fresh. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful and the Kansas City sauce was sweet and tangy. The brisket sandwich was well prepared, however I found the ciabatta roll to be a bit overpowering for the tender juicy brisket inside. All of the components worked & I really liked the POP of the jalapeños, however- Totally my personal preference, I found myself wishing I had gone "component style" with the stand alone brisket & 2 sides. I ordered a side of collards with my sandwich which I never received. We must have been well fed because I didn't even notice until we had left. We were charged but no collards ever arrived... I will take the blame on that. The coleslaw was sweet and creamy with noticeable notes of celery seed, the macaroni and cheese was sticky and cheesy with all the right flavor profiles, the fried okra was hot and crispy, but the star of the day was the corn pudding. If we were a bit less civilized I believe we would've fought over it! We finished with banana pudding which was sweet, creamy & totally satisfying. One serving was sufficient to share among the 3 of us. We found $102 with tax & tip to be acceptable for an area this close to the beach. At the end of the meal Austin came out from behind the line to thank us for stopping in - he was friendly, polite, and sincere explaining to us his entrepreneurial spirit and visions to expand upon his bright young future. I was not really expecting much from this place. While the outside is super cute, I was skeptical about BBQ at the beach. Well, it exceeded my expectations! I had the basic pulled BBQ sandwich and it was really flavorful and the meat was tender. They had a lot of different sauces to try which was fun. The collard greens were INCREDIBLE! I also tried the roasted potato medley and the portion was large. The drinks were also great. Our waitress Jennifer was attentive and really helpful. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Called restaurant to confirm wait time and they stated they were able to sit immediately. Arrived and paid to park and was told there would be a 1.5 hour wait. Two tables that arrived after us were sat before us. POOR MANAGEMENT. After waiting for a ridiculous amount of time, they sat us at a table that had been available our entire wait time. Then we were informed that they were out of all of their meat, except sausage. No apology for the inconvenience for the poor planning of their kitchen. So not only did we wait and pay to wait because of parking, we didn't even get to eat. Would not recommend. Management had an extremely crappy attitude. All of this while trying to entertain a 2 year old. The restaurant should've known they were going to run out of food by the time we would've been sat. We happily would've left and found another restaurant. Also don't use the restrooms, it doesn't lock, it's smells horrible, is sticky, barely has soap (just some random bottle from dollar store) and it has no air flow so it's hotter than the sun. In Myrtle for a six week golf junket. Tried this place on our last night for takeout something different, I.e., not seafood. The brisket is some of the best I've ever had. It truly melts in your mouth. Had it with Kansas City BBQ sauce, which was also very flavorful. Sides were comprised of baked beans and slaw; both very good. Our party of four split the loaded brisket fries appetizer - the brisket was sublime; the toppings were excellent! We had the brisket sandwich, BLTA sandwich and a bologna sandwich. First off, the order came with two ribs which seemed to have been sitting in a warmer all day. There was no sauce at all on the ribs, it was served in a small cup on the side. The wing dings were the same - deep fried to a crisp, dry as dust, and no sauce. The smoked turkey was probably the best meat out of our order, but still not the best. The turkey BLTA barely had any bacon. Also, the "A" in BLTA stood for avocado, for which there was none. I had to ask for it to be brought out and was given three small slices. As I local I try to support local businesses. I stopped in last month for lunch for the 1st time and it was fantastic so good went back 3 days later. I called today to place a take out order. They just opened and several items were not available as they were still prep/cooking them. I wanted ribs but they were still being smoked and would be ready till tonight/tomorw. Really??? I order the 2 meats & 2 sides Smoked sausage and brisket which has a $5 up charge. I went in to pay my order wasn't ready yet. After I paid I looked at the receipt and saw I was charged twice ‍ Worker removed one charge. Came home and was disappointed the brisket was pulled not sliced like the last 2 times I had it and had quite a bit of fat. Sausage was good Mac and cheese had no flavor and was cold. Collards had more stalls/stems then leaves and not much flavor. Very disappointed in their inconsistency. Instead of opening more establishments try focusing on doing one excellent. read more
