    The Beans, the Situation
    Phil N.

This is a Roastery established in the 1930s. It's an old school SF Gem. Recently, the Haas family has become involved and it's leading to expansion including a new tasting room next year. It the mean time, its beans only like it's been for the last 90 years. Nice service. Ambiance is 1935 chic.

Nice visit to a historic location and must have passed it hundreds of times over the years and didn't notice it until my wife found them on social media and we are from the San Francisco but I do know Caffe Trieste a few blocks away for espresso and pastries. The gentleman serving was very knowledgeable and has worked there for decades. We ended up getting dark roast and light roast beans. Making espresso is an art form that I haven't mastered finding the correct grind setting with my DF54 grinder and the correct volume and time through my Gaggia Classic. I couldn't dial in a smooth espresso from these dark beans but the light roast worked well for my drip coffee. I'm not sure I would return but again it's probably my lack of skill. It is a good excuse to go to North Beach which was alive and well but parking could be a challenge

What aroma inside here. Too good. We are usually medium roast people but wanted to be bold and get their dark roast. Needless to say it's way too strong and very bitter in the end so not our favorite. We tried it both in the coffee machine as well as mocha pot but it was way too strong and bitter even after adding some sugar and milk - typically with medium roast only bit of milk does the trick for us and no added sugar is needed so we won't convert to dark roast anytime soon sadly. To add to that, the beans were extremely oily and it was really tough to hand grind them (our grinder just died sadly) so it took a lot of efforts to get those cups ready but we finished all the beans and didn't waste any haha. The place is lovely and people there are friendly and explain the story of the store and origin of their beans. So if ur a dark roast lover you must stop here!

Ive been seeing people post about Graffeo coffee for ever now & i moved to a small little town that has a cute little store that sells Graffeo coffee, i purchased a bag of dark roast coffee beans for $19.99 & I am having a cup now, its super rich & tasty, I'm glad I found the coffee closer to me than San Francisco, get some of this coffee to try for yourself

Ordered this Light Roast off the website. Shipped to my house

Ordered a bag of their light roast shipped to my house. It was phenomenal and so fresh and aromatic. As soon as I opened the box, I could smell the amazing smell of fresh roasted coffee without even opening the bag. Wow. The coffee has a great balance and a very smooth taste: highly recommended!

Purchased a dark @ light roast coffee beans... Will grind and brew... $26 lbs for beans so I have to try the coffees. I got a dark and a light dark is very rich, bold ... I prefer the light... That's what I'm rolling with going forward.

DO NOT PAY FOR DELIVERY…read more We paid extra to have our order delivered to our hotel and used the restaurant's order-ahead option. We scheduled the delivery for 9:20 a.m., but by 8:40 a.m. the app showed it had already been delivered. The problem? There was no food at our hotel room. I tried contacting the delivery driver by text, but never received a response. It was incredibly frustrating, especially after leaving a generous tip. We later found out the driver had left the food at the hotel but never told the front desk which room it was for, even though they had all of the delivery information. As a result, our food just sat there until we eventually had to go down and get it ourselves. In the end, I paid for a delivery service that I never actually received. Instead of enjoying the convenience we paid for, we had to track down our own order. Based on this experience, I would not recommend paying for delivery. If you're ordering from this restaurant, save your money and pick it up yourself. I paid for a service, but I did not receive what I paid for. Then to make it worse the breakfast sandwich was just OK. Nothing to write home to mom about. To say the least we will not be ordering her again and would not recommend this restaurant.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

It had a very subtle matcha flavor, but I couldn't taste the grassiness. The sea green color was aesthetically pleasing when combined with the grassy matcha hue. As a drink, it is refreshing, but as a matcha latte, I felt there was too much milk, which drowns out the matcha flavor. 6/5 Kopi Klepon, Iced This was too delicious, I kept stealing sips from my partner (instead of drinking my own drink) and would order this one again. There was some coconutty sweetness, which added delicious complexity, and slight bitterness that pairs well with the sweet. In terms of flavor, this coffee drink rivals Vietnamese coffee. 4/5 Pandan Bolu This sponge cake-like pastry was springy and bouncy, with a medium green hue. Sadly, there was barely any detectable pandan flavor, but at least it was moist with a good texture. I'd come back if in the area and craving a strong, tasty coffee.
