If there was an option for zero stars, that's the rating they would've gotten. Customer service was horrible which could've been ignored...but there was a roach crawling next to my meal. This place is known for their pasta, do not get the pizza. The sauce tastes store-bought and almost artificially flavored. My drink was served to me in a dirty cup which made me wonder what else doesn't get cleaned properly. I usually go to Mellow Mushroom but I wanted to give them a chance, I regret not giving Mellow Mushroom my money. Staff is not very friendly. We had the hummus and meatballs for appetizers, they were delicious. The meatballs we had in a pink sauce. All the pasta offerings were delicious. We had the Rasta Pasta, Tortellini la Flor, and the Southwest Brisket Pasta. All were delicious. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return. read more

I have eaten the in town everywhere... multiple times... and I have to say that ) In my humble opinion) this is the best meal that I have ever had in within the city.. ever. The main course was amazing and the homemade cheesecake was one of the best (even perhaps the best)... tgat I have had at any restaurant. I heard from a friend that the food was just average and very expensive but I wanted to try anyway. I'll confirm that it's pretty expensive for what you get. I ordered the brisket pasta dish and while the flavor was a little bland but decent, the amount of brisket in the dish was a joke. I can't believe I paid almost $20 for that. I understand cutting corners but serving me such a small dish for so much money is why I'll never go back. Now you lost two good customers (me and my friend) and that costs you more than if you had been a little more generous with your portions. The owner seemed very nice and I have no complaints about the service whatsoever. My friend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the taste was good. Also I reviewed my brisket dish on their website and they never published it. So the reviews on their are skewed. If I could give some advice it would be to beef up the dishes and get some tasters in there to help improve on some of those bland flavors. read more

First time here last night. Short and sweet: it's OK. Not bad, not great. The room, in a number of ways similar to the eclectic vibe at it's predecessor, JJ's Pizza, is a cool space. Clean, a lot of interesting art. For me it was the most appealing aspect of the restaurant. At a time where so many places fall flat by Disneyfying or chain-restaurant-stamping their rooms, this is a welcome change. The servers were as cool as the room. Responsive, conversational, genuinely nice people. The worst servers take away from a dining experience. Our server added to it. So why "ok?" The food. I had the salad, the pesto pasta and meatballs. Others had the Rasta Pasta. The meatballs had good chew but were somewhat dry and whatever herbs and flavors were intended never really showed themselves. The red sauce? Again, ok. A great red sauce has a welcome complexity. Subtle sweetness from the tomatoes. Herbs that come through in every mouthful. This sauce seemed more like a quick sauce, something one puts together with limited time or ingredients. One ingredient that was not lacking: salt. Most restaurants tend toward oversalting. In this sauce, it was a predominant flavor. The pesto pasta was cooked well but otherwise disappointing. Like the sauce, it was oversalted. I love pesto. Basil is perhaps my favorite summer flavor. I could not taste the basil in this. I saw the flecks of green, so it was in there somewhere, but the salt and other mellow ingredients were the only things I tasted. This place is new. Time may improve things. As a fan of independent restaurants, I wish them all the success. I'll try them again, but it will be a while. read more

The food was REALLY, really good. However, I feel like for the price, the portions are a bit on the small side. Maybe it was just with what I got. Before taking this picture, I ate exactly ONE tortellini & the roll. I wouldn't mind the portions if it wasn't so expensive! We even asked the server about portion sizes prior to ordering it, to which they seemed confused that we were asking, & told us it was just their "standard" portion. It was our first time here so we weren't entirely sure what that meant?
