We stopped into Grana by chance today... there was an open spot for my car right in front of the restaurant. Boy, I'm glad we did. As soon as we walked into Grana, it was crowded, we were greeted by Brett, and there were spots at the bar, so I was all in for that. We did not order any drinks since we just visited 2 vineyards today, so water was fine. We ordered the ceaser salad, nice and crisp, garlic, cheese and croutons... delicious! For our meal, we ordered a wood fitted pizza... half Grana and half eggplant. The pizza was amazing, the eggplant and caramelized onions were so sweet. This is a follow-up review, as we decided to give Grana another chance, and I am really glad we did! We had family visiting from abroad & decided to make a reservation for 12 people I must say, the manager (Brian, I believe), went above & beyond, from the great Bedell, Cabernet Franc recommendation, to the delicious crispy brussels sprouts salad, best truffle mushroom pizza & homemade ravioli, we enjoyed it all! Not only we received an exceptional service, he was extremely professional & the entire staff was very attentive & treated us really well. PLEASE READ. I am beyond disappointed. This place used to be such a quaint local gem, but these past couple of months, it has just been going immensely downhill. The food took too long for what we ordered and after that when we were leaving the staff had to tell all of the customers that the ovens broke and that they could only make pizza and salads. Moving on from tonight, the past couple of visits I've made to Grana have been all too similar; long wait times for food and depleting sanitary conditions throughout the place. I saw roaches crawling on the floor. God only knows how bad that kitchen must look. It's so sad to see a local north fork restaurant fall in the drain, and I hate to sound like this, but I would not recommend Grana; instead, check out Il Giardino in Aquebogue. read more

Update: After 3 years we decided to go back to Grana this evening and give it another chance. We tried to call to make a reservation but the phone was perpetually busy, sounding like it was off the hook. When we pulled up there were three people sitting at a table outside eating dinner and an empty table for 4 next to them. We went inside to find out if we could have dinner and we were told that there were no tables inside because they had reservations and when we asked if we could sit at the empty table that was outside they told us they were no longer serving dinner outside. I was really confused by this because the table was set and there were people eating right next to that outside table. We were terrifically disappointed that no one tried to accomodate us. I can't say that we are going to keep trying. read more

Grana has become a go-to for my family every time we are on the North Fork. I would recommend always calling ahead for a reservation, especially during the summer & fall busy seasons. Their pizza is incredible; my personal favorites are the sliced meatball and the nofo, but you can't go wrong with any that you choose. The rest of their menu is also excellent, I really enjoy their regular house salad and the chef's meatballs. Their pastas are very good too - basically, order whatever you're in the mood for and it is almost guaranteed to be good. One last note is that the staff here is also fantastic. One of the waiters is hilarious and also sings happy birthday to my grandma every year! I will be back this spring for sure. read more

Our party made the trip out east and was really looking forward to our meal. Food + ambiance were great - restaurant was cute and food options were plentiful and delish. For those reasons I'd return, but not any time soon bc of our waiter. He was rude to us from the moment we sat - we sensed he had an attitude but it got worse as the night went on. The last straw was that he thought we didn't tip and came over with this condescending tone when asking us instead of just asking normally, it was really off putting. The food was great. The service good. Atmosphere is nice. We go there probably once a year. We are locals. Went Saturday with a gift card that my wife got from her boss (well known in the community) . When we tried to use that to pay, we were told we couldn't use it. Something about fraud. If they have issues with that, that is not my problem. Rather than cause an issue, I paid by AmEx and left my number for the management to discuss. No response unfortunately. I didn't leave a tip because of the situation but that's not me. I went back Sunday with that. Like I said, only once a year so it obviously is not a big deal for them. My husband and I have been eyeing this place for a while and on a lazy Sunday on the North Fork we decided to stop in for lunch. Had a glass of wine each. We ordered the artichoke salad and Grana pizza to share. The decor is a little odd in the outside seating. Lamps covered in fabric. But, they get good reviews and we wanted to try them. The artichoke salad is tossed with mixed greens. The artichokes were clearly grilled a while ago and added to the tossed salad. The salad was way overdressed. Not my favorite thing. Then on to the pizza. Somehow the thinnest part was uncooked. I was really looking forward to it. It had all the flavors I love. But, outside of it being undercooked, there was something so tart and pungent about it. I couldn't eat it. We may come back to try the pasta. But, we may not. read more

I never write negative reviews but I left here with a bad experience. We walked in for a table of 3, including a baby. So we needed a high chair. The hostess immediately tells me they don't have high chairs... ummm wtf?! So I said it was okay, knowing I have a stroller, worst case scenario. I think he thought I was gonna give in and walk away at that moment. But I didn't. Then he looked up and down his list about 3 times and said he had no tables. This is a diamond in the rough - clearly needs a "front of the house" manager. We made reservations in June and were told when we arrived that there would be over an hour wait. We left. We went back tonight and it was an odd experience. Our waitress Debbie - was wonderful but she needs help. The busboy carried our water (in throw away plastic cups) with his sweaty fingers in the cup. He was also dropping plates while cleaning a table and wiping his dirty hands on his pants - before he got our water. The real glasses for sparkling water were dirty. And the staff tried to give us dirty silverware for our main dish. FOOD - apps of baked clams = excellent with more hunks of fresh clam than breadcrumbs. Caprese Milanese - good concept but not executed well - the center was ice cold and not melted. I had the cacio Pepe with shrimp - aside from having zero pepper it was excellent. My wife had roasted eggplant - was good but too much cheese. Also - Debbie had them substitute zucchini noodles for her instead of pasta. Nice old school touch - singing for birthdays Finally - the house charges $5 credit card fee.... For a $150 tab???? I can see that at the bagel shop but this is supposed to be a high end restaurant - that was unnecessary in my opinion. Food here is soo exceptional! They are really in a groove in the kitchen. NOFO pizza, sausage and onions, always a can't miss. Pesto Angel hair was soo good after I let the rest of the table try it they all wanted to switch. Eggplant parmigiana was tasty as well. They miss out on 5 stars only because I would like to see just a few more higher end wines on the list. Current selection, although does represent the NF, needs a nice Nebbiolo or Vino Nobile for us wine snobs. Aside from that. Great place. The food is pretty good, not as great as I remembered it early on, but certainly worth trying. Dinner on the weekends is hectic and loud.
