I will give two stars. Lack of choice is the main reason. Quality is lower than mid but higher than low. Not sure is it ate-able or not. But most foods are not hot and some are cold. Not a great experience. However, they got good servers. Hope they can improve more at the food quality. Good thing is that they have equipment for health safety! LOL read more

I came here with my Love. First things first for the low rating, I am very surprised the food was delicious usually you hit it miss on certain items at buffets I guess that depends on where you go too but it was good all around. Even the ice cream. Better than what I spent $30 on the other day. The customer service and the people were nice. The interior of this place was a very old-school feel. I like the food and it was cheap I usually do to Kobe but they are closed on Tuesdays and this place is closed on Mondays so yeah. I have visited this place several times for the last 6 years. Unfortunately, the food quality has declined, the noodles are tougher and not tender, the rice tastes dry, stale and reheated. I believe this could be an attempt to lower food costs, yet since the traffic of guests is steadily holding , I don't understand why quality has suffered. Finally the service from the foreign servers, who do not speak English well, comes off rude and negligent, the only time they are quick to go to your table is to bill you. Having them constantly hover over my table to get me to cash and leave within 20mins of my arrival is inappropriate and lacks a level of civility that they should learn, that is part of customer service. read more

Friendly staff does not offset an unsafe kitchen or self service area. 'Steamed' oysters still raw, barely skin temperature, same as the spicy octopus (Normally, no, you do not get the runs from these foods when they're prepared and stored correctly.) If you mean to serve oysters on the half shell with sauce and spices, they must either be cooked or raw, not in-between, and kept at a safe serving temperature. Either a bed of ice for cold displays, or with some sort of buffer so that the shell is heated to a safe level for a hot one. Food in other hot service pans was cooler than what would be safe. I've been to a lot of buffets as well as worked in food service, and this one has had the coolest 'steam table' that i've ever seen. Other dishes with liquid constituents like beef with broccoli were alarmingly cool. Heat lamps helped keep fried dishes warm, but i would still be concerned. If this is about the service area, i don't even want to SEE the kitchen or storage back there. Please, improve your cooking methods and service temperatures. I really liked how polite and attentive your front end was, but the food is key to your customers returning. Ratings 3 stars for cleanliness, please add a few napkins to the tables so that guests can clean messy fingers. 0.1 stars for the health hazard of the food. Please change this! 4 stars for the attentive and friendly waitstaff. A fairly nice buffet experience. Overall 2 stars. San Francisco, outside of Indian food buffets, doesn't have a ton of buffets, so coming to Grant Buffet this past Sunday was definitely a different experience for me. If you have a big group - Grand Buffet is great. It can easily accommodate a plethora of people. That being said - their tables are long and narrow, so conversing with everyone in your party - can be challenging. Service rarely comes into play at buffets, since you're pretty much left to explore and over-indulge to the best of your own ability. I still was pretty impressed with staff - since they were quick to grab us waters and ready to answer any questions. And the food? Decent. Grand Buffet did a decent job of covering a vast spectrum of different cuisines. It had some American style options (pizza, fries etc), some Japanese options (sushi), some Chinese dishes (beef, chicken and fish dishes), some basic veggie choices, a decent fruit selection, and had some haphazard desserts (jello, pastries, bread pudding etc). I just stuck to the somewhat healthy Jessica Buffet Plan See below for the LD (lowdown) on JABA (Jessica Approved Buffet Advice) 1.) Stay away from the sushi (didn't look fresh and had been camping out for awhile). That being said their inari is solid. 2.) Get some steamed rice. 3.) Stick to the vegetarian fare, which though greasy - is pretty tasty.The asparagus is good, and the broccoli from the chicken and broccoli dish is bursting with flavor. 4.) Be sure to hit up the fruit bar (though stay away from the bananas coated in weird red sauce), 5.) Stick to the candied walnuts in the dessert area. They have a big variety of food, fruit and some ice cream a lot of seafood as well the prices are not bad similar to most other buffets. I love good Chinese food...and when it's all I can eat, it's even better! Although sadly the quality is rarely available at the buffet! I had drove by this location for months and never gave it a chance until last week. I stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Good service, great selection and a good value for a lunch buffet! The shopping center itself looks abandoned...but parking is great! :). I included a few photos...because I was so excited about the Sushi selection. (A nice Japanese flare with seaweed salad also in this section) Why not five stars...? Food was okay. We got seated right away when we walked in. However the whole time we were being watched by one of the waiters, it felt awkward and we felt like we were being rushed. Love this place. Been going here for ten years and their food has always been consistently good. I usually seek variety when dining out, thus I tend to visit other Chinese food places every now & then to try something new, however, this one always has me coming back. I don't know what it is about their Japanese chicken and fried rice, but it has me hooked! They've got the general selections you'd find at any standard Asian buffet; such as orange chicken, broccoli beef, chow mein, etc. They've also got a sushi bar and seafood, although I've yet to try out those dishes. Dessert section ranges from light fruits and jello, to mini sponge cakes, pudding and cookies. Recently pricing seems to have gone up a bit, but then again so has everything else during this time of inflation, so I'd think it's just an impact of the times we're in. Waiters are always courteous and kitchen crew works hard to keep areas orderly. The only thing is, once in a while, I've noticed some employees will stare at me as I get my food, and to be honest I find that uncomfortably annoying. No one likes being watched like a hawk while their making their selection at the buffet. Other than that, awesome place, great food and friendly staff! They have indoor dining now! :D EXCELLENT! I've been in twice in the past 2 weeks, and many times BC. [Before COVID-19] I'm very comfortable with their safety protocols. Of course, masks are required to enter and to get food. [Take 'em off at your table] They give you plastic gloves and they use disposable paper plates, styrofoam cups, and plastic silverware. The food is very good, as always [CRAB!! WOO-HOO!!], and the staff works hard to keep the place very clean and orderly. It wasn't overly busy both times I went in recently, so, it was easy for all parties and individuals to keep a few feet apart at the buffet. It's all good. There were a couple of large family groups but it wasn't crowded. Every other table/booth was kept empty. Nice folks all around. read more

If safety is your #1 priority during this Covid Pandemic then I believe this is the place to go. Right now, as there is no indoor or outdoor dining, they charge guests per pound of food they take (for a great price), they require wearing gloves (provided by them) and wear a mask while you use the rings to get your food. The food here is always tasty and they serve plenty of varieties... there's lots of Asian dishes for those who are wanting to try new things and they also have very good American foods like fries and bbq ribs for those picky eaters. They have pizza too but that's more for the kids as it's not the best. Still highly recommend this place. read more
