I read a few bad reviews of this place that made me wonder. This is a buffet. It is up to you to make good and bad decisions about what you choose to eat. My strategy is the look at everything and identify items that work well on steam tables. Some times you make a mistake: the mini corn dogs were cold. On the other hand the pasta table, carving table, and made to order omelettes were wonderful. Then there are the risky items like mashed potatoes and gravy. This time they were very good. Actually really impressed. Meal vouchers came with our tour package and hotel stay at the Grand Railway Hotel just across the street. We had both breakfast and dinner here and were impressed with both buffets. Food seemed fresh. They have a made-to-order station which is really nice. For dinner one of the food options was beef tenderloin which was phenomenal by any restaurant standard, let alone buffet-style. Some other dinner options were so-so, as to be expected when it has to sit in heat for a few hours. Again, very decent given buffet-style, but you won't be disappointed with the made-to-order station. Servers were friendly and streamlined the whole experience. We ate there for Dinner and Breakfast as part of the Polar Express train ride package. The dinner was ok. but don't waste your time on the soggy steamed veggies or the very dry "prime" rib. Drink requests were slow and when I asked to order dessert, the server stated that "there are two other tables with their drink order and I would have to wait." Incredibly rude. We were hoping breakfast would be better. And it was, marginally. Egg white omelet was at least cooked thoroughly. Bowls were warm so the yogurt and fruit was lukewarm. Strawberries and melons were not ripe but the bacon, sausage and hash-browns were edible. As an added bonus, our son's toy fire truck walked away. I feel badly for ANY family who actually paid $21 per person for this place. We will definitely NOT be eating here again. read more

Not sure about the few good ratings on this place but it is awful. I can't believe I paid $50 for 2 adults for a dinner buffet here. Management - you should be ashamed of yourself. A friend was in town and I told her NOT to go. She would have wasted money on 2 adults and 2 kids. First off, let's talk about your soup and salad bar. Boy, I feel so lucky that there was no wilted lettuce. Yay. Now let me decide which dressing to choose that has crusted on, dried dressing on the sides of the container that's been sitting for I dunno how long. Onto the main courses. Do I choose the dried turkey breast that's turned into turkey jerky? Or the manicotti that doesn't look any more appetizing with cheese that looks crunchy. I could always choose the mini corn dogs or chicken tenders that came out of a cardboard box and deep fried the hell out of. They didn't even have their fish special. Probably a good thing since people would probably get sick from it. Onto sides- red skinned mashed potatoes that were dry too (catching a theme yet?), dirty rice (I'm sure extra dirty), mac n cheese that Kraft taste better than, droopy green beans, and practically mashed glazed carrots. But hey, I guess its worth the money because you have FLAVORLESS pasta to order. No thank you. Save for the prime rib roast, all else is an epic fail. And I can easy get that from Outback for $15 with better sides and fresher. Tourists are there with their children who are so incredibly excited for this adventure just to get this disappointment. Came here with Grand Canyon Travel Tour for South Rim Tour. The lunch "buffet" was awful - looked and tasted like old microwaved food that had been out for days with limited options. The best tasting part of the meal was the soda (which they never refill, you've gotta get up and find a waitress) and the packaged fortune cookies. Can't believe they serve this food. A-OK. This was the most extensive buffet that we had seen during our weekend trip in the Grand Canyon / Williams, AZ area. Our group all cane from Vegas so we were thinking that maybe our standards for a buffet were pretty high. The food quality wasn't so bad to me. They had your basic selections... mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, mac and cheese, various styles of chicken...etc. I would compare it to a Golden Corral...when they were good. ;) Our group took up an entire section but the service did not seem to fall short. All of our servers were attentive and adamant about walking around to make sure our glasses were full and our plates were cleared. Stopped here for lunch as part of a tour of the grand canyon, as such I can't comment on prices and value of the food. And it may be possible that the regular buffet offering is somewhat different. A small souvenir shop leads a large dining room, almost too large for the small size of the buffet. Our bus was the first there so we were seated promptly and didn't have to wait in the buffet line. The whole setup was organized and service was fine, considering it was limited to the delivery of drinks. Food was heavily texmex inspired and most dishes, with the exception of the Spanish rice and chicken were very tasty, a coke of casserole dishes and the potatoes with spinach and chorizo were my favorites. Dessert was limited to a small assortment of cookies and soft serve ice cream. Overall pretty good for what may be thought of by some as a"free" lunch. read more

Why are the hamburgers in a vat of hot water/oil? And why is the pulled pork also in what looks like barbecue sauce water. This 'buffet' was included as part of our tour.. Disclaimer: Our meals here were included in our AAA railway package; I would almost never choose a buffet because I can't do them justice. If I were on my own for meals in Williams, I would not have eaten here for that reason alone. We had two dinners and two breakfasts here and I can't complain. The carving station had a really nice brisket one night and a roast of beef the the other. The pasta station and omelette station were a nice touch and I enjoyed both, but I only had olive oil and garlic with veggies on the pasta, it's hard to get that wrong. We ate here 4 times because we had a package with the hotel. I was expecting something akin to the Old Country Buffet, but this was more like a Mothers Day Buffet at an upscale suburban hotel. The only sore point is that when busy, the servers may be distracted by others, but ours were all friendly and very good. The food has been upped a lot compared to earlier reviews, as we found it both high quality and imaginative. There is a made to order pasta bar at night and an omelette bar at breakfast. We recently signed up for a package deal at the Grand Canyon Railroad Hotel which included meals at this cafe. All of the meals were served here in buffet style. Not a large selection of food and all was very bland. I'd recommend eating in town somewhere. read more

I give this place 4 stars based off of the scenery and magic of the polar express. The food isn't the greatest for the price 22.50 per adult and 14.50 per child 4 years of age and up. I liked the cook that makes the spaghetti at night time he was friendly. In a nutshell where else are you going to eat before you do the polar express. read more

Spent 3 days at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel our package included breakfast and dinner at the Cafe. This is Buffet style restaurant. We found the quality of the food just to be so so. The items being offered that should be hot were just warm. The cold items were not that cold. The menu for both the breakfast and dinner were the same every day. There was no changes in what they offered which we were not happy with. If I had to do it over again I would not take the package with this option. If you walk in from the street the dinner buffet is around $23 and the breakfast is about $13. In my opinion it is not worth the price. read more

It's a buffet, and it's more than okay. We ate here for 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts as part of a weekend package with the hotel. I'm leaving a review because the 2 star average had me worried, but we had a good experience at all 4 meals. Kids and adults found plenty to eat, and it all tasted good. The servers and staff were friendly. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for made-to-order omelets or pasta. Breakfast, which is similar to what you'd get at an Embassy Suites, would be worth paying the regular price. Not so sure about dinner. The selections weren't all that extensive. I notice a lot of the bad reviews seem to be from people brought here for lunch as part of a bus trip. I have no idea what it's like for lunch--but I can imagine there could be long lines and lower quality with busloads of people arriving at once. For dinner and breakfast, we found it to be fine. Options were limited to one type of carved beef, stale chicken fingers, dry old fish, grilled vegetables, mac and cheese, pasta, potatoes. They had one kind of soup and a salad bar (not so fresh). Came here for breakfast twice, both times were fine. Buffet was full and the food was fresh. Got here before the rush (people getting ready for the train) so there were no lines, but lines were pretty long when we were leaving. After reading all the reviews about this place , I didn't want to go for dinner at this place. We are too lazy to drive somewhere before boarding polar express so we give them a try. Actually it's not bad at all. I love pasta section. U can order what u want. Our daughter enjoy her food. We finish our dinner with desserts. Desserts are not bad at all. The place were busy because everyone here for polar express. Our server was apologize to us but I told her I'm totally understand. All big group of family in her section. When I need something , I just ask her and she bring it. I would not expect she stop by every 15 min to ask everything is ok. She did her best. The food wasn't too bad! Considering we were brought here from a grand canyon package tour. There was a nice elaborate salad bar with really good tuna salad. The main dish bar was beef/chicken tacos which was so good with sour cream and guacamole and cheese and tomatoes and bell peppers and and and.. There was soft serve ice cream (vanilla/chocolate/swirl) and oreos cookies topping! I just took one star away because when I tried to tip (we didn't have to pay for the meal but we were encouraged to tip) the lady at the cashier told me (pointing at a plastic basket by the counter) "just put it there" like she couldn't care less. read more

We were here for Dinner and Breakfast and both were ok, like many other buffets, lots to choose from some items ok some great. The service both times was very good. All the usual items like salads, soups hot dishes and desserts. The dinner had very good turkey and dressing, prime rib, a cooking station for pasta at dinner and eggs and omelets in the morning. The food was served buffet style, but the food fell real short of the lower end buffets you can easily get in Vegas. Food was very blahhhh!!!! I would have easily gone for a fast food place instead of this place, but hey it was part of the package we paid for and after being on the road for several hours, beggars can't be choosers.
