Second time around, these guys have come through with flying colors! Earlier this year, I brought my Tesla in to Grand Prix to have my tires rotated because they quoted me such a low price. While there, I mentioned that one of my tires had become low while was on a trip the week prior and they said they'd check it out. They finished up quickly and said my car was ready to go. As I was leaving, I asked about the low tire and was told that it had a leak and they repaired it. No charge. Have a great day. So nice, so matter of fact. Fast forward several months and my tires have become bald from my beautiful battery-heavy car. I stopped by our usual discount tire store whom I won't name, to get quotes on tires, then went to Grand Prix to ask for a price match. I've been buying tires at Grand Prix for 35 years. In 1977, I brought in my '72 Datsun 510 for a new set of tires. I was impressed with how they treated my car. Each car is treated as though it were a Bentley. Over the years, I've also had shocks and brake pads installed at reasonable prices. They are very busy so don't expect to be in and out in 30 minutes. They have a nice area to wait, so I pulled out my computer and was able to work while waiting. My experience is that they stand by their tires. This place is amazing. I have a Mini Cooper with run flat tires and have always been told that run flat tires cannot be repaired. I developed a slow leak recently and took my car to Costco. They told me they might be able to repair the slow leak, but then said I had 2 holes so they couldn't, so I thought I had to buy a new tire, or two even since they always tell you to replace at least 2. They didn't have the new tire I needed in stock so it was going to have to be without a car for another day. Then my aunt told me about Grand Prix. I took my car there from Costco and they could repair my tire. They said people say they can't repair those tires because they are expensive and want you to buy new ones. They fixed my tire in about 30 minutes and didn't even charge me. I will never go anywhere else again. read more

Grand Prix Motorcycle has been working on my Harley Davidson's for well over two decades. Have owned over 8 models in that period and all service and customizing has been done at their shop. Just read a previous negative review and could not believe what I saw. Steve the manager is honest and has always backed up his work if there are any problems. I never do this but I have a little recommendation for anyone local to orange county and thinking about getting their tires done at Grand Prix Performance in Newport...DON'T DO IT!! The owners are rude and they have no concept of respect to their customers. Taking almost double the amount of time for a simple rear tire change & alignment is ridiculous...Even when I repeatedly asked ,prior to leaving my car, if it would be done in the time needed. When I talked to someone about the extra time I was told the only choices I had were to either let them take their time and do a good job or get a shitty job in the time they quoted. Here's a thought...how about you quote me an accurate amount of time to do the work so I can plan for it. I even said to the guy, before I left my car,...if you can't do it in the time I need just do the tires and I'll come back for the alignment. You've been doing it for 40 years...shouldn't you know how long it takes to change 2 tires and an alignment? When I went out to my car the rubber seal attached to the window looked like it had been stuffed into the window. The mechanic explained that it looked dry and was probably breaking and the window pulled it down. I accepted the explanation after all they didn't have any business working on my window. But then the owner chimes in and tells me he thinks that I purposefully ripped that piece out so that I could blame them and then get them to pay for it, I lost it. SERIOUSLY!!! That's the first thing you think? You must think so highly of your customer. Needless to say I told him I would never be back. I wouldn't want anyone to go through this...they obviously have enough customers and do not need any more. read more

These guys were unhelpful at best and rude at worst. They managed to ding the wheel on my M6. I went in because I had a slow leak and they had been mentioned to me by a colleague so I thought this would be a way to try them out. They patched the tire OK (nail hole), but the dings in my 19" wheel let me know that this was a place I'd never go back to to buy tires (or anything else). They're called "Grand Prix Performance" but the accessories they sell looked more suited to the inner-city. I had to give them one-star just to show I didn't miss inputting the rating. This place is a joke. If I could give zero stars I would. The guy "helping" us( old bald guy with glasses) didn't even care to help. Went in to purchase new wheels & tires for the g wagon & asked if they had specific forgiatos. He showed us cheap tsw wheels. He obviously had no idea what he was talking about or a clue on what we were looking for. Horrible. I had damage to the front left of my Prius from hitting a curb in the rain. Toyota replaced the tire, which had a small rip, and strongly recommended additional repairs which were going to cost me over $1000, or my new tire would suffer accelerated wear. A friend recommended getting a second look at it, both for the need for such work AND for the price. My friend had great experiences at Gran Prix Champions so I dropped by. THEY WERE WONDERFUL!! Even though I didn't have any appointment or other contact with them, they immediately accepted my car. Their assessment within a few hours confirmed the need for some of the work, but their cost was LESS than half of the Toyota quote. Everyone was SO helpful and positive! They explained each step and any options that I might have. It was easy to access them regarding progress of the work being done. I was back on the road the next day, feeling safe and knowing that I had saved hundreds of dollars! I will DEFINITELY make use of their services when I have any service needs for my car. . . and will send others to them, with confidence that both service and cost will be exceptional. read more

Oh, where do I start with these guys....hmmm, well I have a nice car that was due for new front tires with only 13k miles so I took it to America's Tire on Avery, unfortunately, they scratched one rim but they said they would pay to have it repaired and they stood by their word, they paid me. When I was due for rear tires at 18k miles I called Grand Prix and explained what happened....they stopped me mid-sentence and said, "Don't worry, we work on Ferrari's everyday, we won't scratch your rims." WRONG! Not only did they scratch BOTH rear rims by using a sharp flat-blade screwdriver to pry the wheel weights off but the owner Berg wouldn't pay to have them fixed. Instead he insisted on fixing them using his "wheel guy". Not only did good old Berg try to bait and switch me twice but he also tried to charge me to mount a tire on a rim he was responsible for fixing, he also tried to deny he ever did any damage at all and treated me with disrespect to boot. I was there yesterday with an alignment problem on one of our cars. They were able to look at it immediately and didn't charge me to fix it. I recently was told my tires were bald so I walked in to Grand Prix yesterday am to see if they could help. Burge said they had the tires in stock and could get right on it. I had to get to work, so they gave me a ride on the spot. When I went to pick up the car, not only did they put the new tires on, they checked and fixed my alignment all for a great deal too. So i start inquiring about new rims for my Boss302 and i mentioned to them i have two different profiles on my tires. They tried to tell me that doesn't matter they are the same height. WTF? A 35 profile tire is shorter than a 40 profile tire and you guys are gonna tell me they are the same height? VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! Customer service is NOT the forte of this business. I purchased 4 Micheline tires for my Mercedes CLS. Due to ongoing problems with my rims (leaking tires due to the chrome deteriorating) I also needed to replace the rims. Berge - took me back to my car while on the lift and had a few different rims available for me to choose from. The rims were taken out of the "box" and placed on the car for me to select. I chose the rims and the tries and rims were installed. I came back later that day and signed the invoice and paid. A few days later while scanning the reciept for my records I noticed that last line on the reciept said "18 AMG wheels sold USED AS iS". Absolutely incredulous, I called Berg. I told him that I had NEVER heard of a retail business selling something that was used without advising the customer. He responded by asking me how much I paid for the rims and then telling me that I should have know they were used because of the price. He followed that up by telling me (in a rather condescending manner) that if I wanted to return the rims he would take them off. I responded by asking him what rims he would replaced them with and he stated that they may still have my old rims. "AS IS" also means no warranty. His attitude was one of arrogance, certainly not customer service. This is my first YELP review - the "letter" that I always say I'm going to write - but never do! Just left Grand Prix yesterday with a new set of brake pads and spent the evening talking to my wife about how good it feels to have a fantastic, reliable, local shop where we can take our cars and know that we are getting the best possible price and customer service. From the second I pulled in, the folks at Grand Prix were so nice and accommodating...and most of all, they provided me with the best price for my new break pads (the cost for pads, labor and tax was 50% less than what the Jeep dealer quoted me.) I was picking up a frame next door and had a low tire reading the day before. Decided to walk over and see if they could help. The guys looked at my tire that was low and all the others too. Turned out I not only had a bolt in my one tire but had another tire that was wearing uneven. I would never have seen that nor would my car have alarmed for it. They were able to work on my car same day got everything fixed to perfection. The service team called me each step of the way and gave me good advice about other work I was looking to do. I have been going to Grand Prix ever since I had my own car, so basically 17 years. My Dad always told me to go see Jerry and Berj because he knew they were honest and would make sure that I would be taken care of and were honest. They truly always take care of me. I had a Mercedes that the dealership wanted to charge me $500+ for its 40,000 mile tune up and Grand Prix was able to do it much cheaper and quicker than the dealership. Not to mention I was treated so well and not just another number. They have serviced all of my cars for oil changes, breaks, tires, and a broken window and they are always the best! read more

I got tires less than a year ago and have had to go back twice with a slow leak in one of them. The first time the employee told me I had a nail in my tire but couldn't produce said nail. He said it was patched. Less than a month later the tire started to deflate again. I brought my car to another shop who told me that the tire could not be less than a year old as the wear was so bad and that there was no patch on that tire. They are dishonest and I would stay away from this place. read more

16 years ago I was referred to Grand Prix to get some wheels chromed. I was given a great deal and in return received great, chromed wheels. They even gave me loaner wheels while my wheels were getting chromed which wasn't readily available back in those days. Grand Prix has always been the "go to" place for expert workmanship no matter what your automotive needs may be. Their traditional and honest business dealings are hard to come by these days. Been a customer of Grand Prix for years. Jerry, the owner, has worked with me from time to time, but this time he failed. I emailed him after, for the second time, I was trying to do business with his employees and not called back. This time was for tires for my SRT. The time before was for wife's car. In that case I wanted springs. Saw Jerry, who put me with an employee, to see what we could do. At the time her car was new and springs were new. The guy never called me back so I shopped around and found what I needed. I emailed them to let them know what the part number of the springs were and asked if they wanted to do the job. Never heard back. A year later I wanted specific tires and was told, again by an employee, he'd check and get back to me. He never did. I emailed Jerry to let him know what was going on and he NEVER got back to me. My loyalty to Grand Prix is shot. I will never do ANY business with them again. You want good service, go somewhere else. They've gotten too big to care about the people who helped bring them up. read more

Went to Big O to have wheels installed on my car. They told me $250 to install the wheels, because they had to swap and reprogram the sensors on my X3.....Ok I thought, reasonable enough. When the didn't have the proper lugs, they suggested I go to Grand Prix to get them. Gladly. I went to Grand Prix...Not only did the only charge me $80, they told me how simple the reprogram process was. Additionally, when there were complications with the install, the kept me up to speed and worked with the wheel vendor to get the problem solved. Great customer service Danny!
