I've been going to this restaurant for about 2-3 years. I usually order the Fish Filet with black bean sauce. The portions have been generous, delicious and served in a respectful manner. Well, today that all changed. I'm not able to eat spicy food and try to stay away from fried foods so I ordered the sauce mild and on the side. The waiter was annoyed by that and walked away without a word. I waited over 20 minutes and was finally served a very small fish portion and the sauce was not black bean but hot and spicy chili sauce. I mentioned the fish was fried, not steamed as it used to be served and the sauce was very spicy and not black bean. He immediately took my plate away and ignored me for another 10-15 minutes, never explaining what the kitchen would do next. He brought back a "sauce" that was actually chicken soup, all this time being rude. I'll probably not return there. If you go, be warned not to adjust or request ANY change or you will be treated rudely. There were two food servers, he was the thinner one. Good luck!! read more

Ordered delivery, the food was COLD and it took OVER an hour for delivery (I'm less than 4 miles away). Had to call Customer Service to check on status. My combination Chow Fun had OLD, HARD CHICKEN AND BEEF. The beef was like beef jerkey and they added RAW onions to jazz it up. And one lone, old overcooked shrimp. I couldn't finish it and I'm taking it back tomorrow for a refund of my $15. My total bill was $51, not including the tip. The others were so hungry that they ate theirs. read more

We ordered take-out after the UCLA game at the Rose Bowl. Owners were concerned about not being able to find parking so they said to just call and they would bring the food out to us. We ordered orange chicken, vegetable egg foo young, shrimp friend rice, ma-po tofu, spring rolls and steamed vegetables. I asked that the tofu be prepared with veggie broth as our friend who ordered is is a vegetarian. He suggested using only veggie broth for all of the food preparation. My son is an orange chicken junkie and he wasn't a fan of the way it was prepared but that was the only glitch. Would definitely go bad next time I'm in Pasadena. read more

We were craving noodles, and decided to order take out from this place. We are vegetarians and we ordered: egg rolls, the eggplant, the stringbeans, the kung pao tofu, the veggie lo mein, and the chow fun noodles. It was a LOT of food, and we're still eating leftovers, several days later. We will likely order from here again because it's reasonably priced, closeby, and noodle cravings are rather common in our house. We liked the lo mein, the tofu, and the stringbeans, and wouldn't hesitate to get those again. The eggplant was cooked well, but a little too saucy for our taste. That's more of a maybe, and perhaps we'd try a different veggie before re-ordering it. The chow fun noodles weren't bad, but the entire time we just wished it were pad see ew, so in the future, we'll leave the wide flat rice noodles for when we order Thai. The egg rolls were crisply fried but nothing special and we won't get them next time. Broccoli and the greens are things we'd consider next time. read more

Probably the most reliable and tasty Chinese I've found in Pasadena that isn't overpriced. All the dishes I've had have been delicious and well portioned. The best thing about this place is they sell an egg fried rice which is about the same price as their steamed rice. Seems like most Chinese places I've tried in America sell egg fried rice as if it's an entree and charge at least $8 for it. read more

Chinese food happens to be one of my favorite foods. But some places I have been to don't make it the way I'm use to. I've lived many years in NY and other than there pizza they have really good Chinese food. I finally found a place that makes Chinese food like back home. I loved there BBQ pork friend rice, orange chicken, lo mein and of course an order of egg rolls. I plan on ordering here at least bi weekly. They even deliver which is nice. Ordered delivery because I wanted to avoid the sweltering heat and was currently trying to revive from the excessive adult drinks I consumed last night. Delivery came faster than expected (in about 30 minutes when they quote 45 to an hour). Got the kung pao shrimp, beef chow fun and fish filet with black bean sauce. Kung pao shrimp was the best of the three, just the right amount of spice and flavor without any of the ingredients overpowering each other. Beef chow fun was good, but had barely any beef in it, just a lot of noodles. Black bean fish was good too, a little soggy, but not bad. I typically wouldn't order here often because the prices are higher than most Chinese places, but they delivered, food was good and I may or may not have been hungover. read more

Got pork fried rice and the texture was off? The peas not cooked well enough and was it pork chop pieces ? The pork had good flavor but it didn't translate to the overall dish. And Mongolian beef. We ordered today the first time from this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good at all, mostly flavorless and super plain. The sweet & sour was dry and not sweet nor sour. The tofu hotpot was plain as well and if we wouldn't have added all kind of sauces we had at home on it, we would have not eaten it at all. One star for service. Food itself was okay. I'm upset because my brother in law wrote the tip on the receipt and two hours later I got three consecutive calls from the driver, followed by seven (yes, seven) consecutive text messages. I was accused of cheating the driver of no tip. This confused me, because we gave him $16. I told him he needed to stop harassing me and read his receipt, but his texting continued and I finally just stopped responding. He said we ate and "enjoyed" the food so the driver needed a tip. When did tips ever become mandatory though? I believe in rewarding good service but this wasn't exactly a server at a sit down - he called us and made us walk downstairs because he couldn't find parking. And still, he was given almost $20! We found this place on Labor Day . Super awesome service- he was attentive and gave great suggestions . It's air conditioned which is a plus these days. We ordered Orange Chicken- very tasty and not greasy. Beef & Broccoli-nice big fresh broccoli and meat. Sauce was not overly saturated. Chicken Chow Mein - noodles were cooked perfectly and had a good taste. Shrimp&Garlic sauce- not the best dish and they didn't give enough shrimp. Egg rolls- good. This place was ranking very high on my list until today. I have always loved their lunch specials, and get the moo goo Gai pan every time (growing up, it was my favorite dish). Today, I go in and get the same thing, expecting the shivering tender chicken in the shimmering sauce. What came out was not that. The chicken and the sauce had a worrying yellow tinge, and the chicken felt rubbery. It was lukewarm, did not taste quite right, and the sauce was jello-like. A very far cry from what I have had here before, and also understanding how corn starch in cooking works, I could tell something was not quite right. I quietly asked my waitress if it was made fresh, holding up a piece of congealed sauce with my chopsticks (yes, it was so congealed that I was able to hold a piece of it up with chopsticks). She got the manager who, to his credit, swapped out the dish right away with a new dish that was up to standard, and very clearly made fresh. The difference was stark. What was further disturbing to me is when I asked the manager about whether or not the food was fresh, his expression was a bit like, "oh shit", and didn't deny it, replacing it right away. Actually it is probably good they didn't deny it. Rather take an honest mistake than a bald-faced lie....So there's a bit of credit. Just a tip, folks. If you are going to pass off leftovers as freshly cooked food, don't serve it to someone Chinese who orders this same dish at your establishment all the time. In fact, just don't do that to anyone. Two stars because I have had good experiences here, but I will be thinking twice before coming back here. At the very least, I will make sure to ask them to make everything fresh... read more

Service wasn't that great. Food was okay. I was never asked what I wanted to drink, I really wanted hot tea. Our waiter didnt seem so friendly. I did not know what to expect walking into a Chinese restaurant in Old Pasadena. Surprisingly, their food was decent tasting and remarkably reasonable for lunch. The lunch special comes in a cafeteria (sectional) plate with huge portions of rice, enter, green salad, egg roll, and fruit (orange) and a bowl of soup. Typical Asian American fare with Old Town Pasadena prices. It was very easy to order takeout via the Eat24 app and I appreciate that this place is open until 10 pm. I ordered dinner for two consisting of crab rangoons, orange peel chicken, hot and sour soup, and broccoli with garlic sauce. You have the option of either brown rice or white rice. I went with white rice, because, let's be honest, brown rice is not real rice... Items I would order again are the crab rangoons and the orange peel chicken. The chicken was very tangy and you can taste the orange-ness of the dish. It was delicious. I love that the chicken was saucy too. Definitely better than the orange chicken from Panda. This dish kept this place from losing stars, for sure. The soup was take it or leave it. A bit bland and unmemorable. The broccoli with garlic sauce was also very saucy, but I didn't think the dish was done all that well. I AM very picky with how broccoli is cooked though so that may have been a factor. This place easily satisfies the Chinese fast food craving. It is not as cheap as Panda. Still, I would order from them again. read more

Consistently tasty standards with very prompt delivery and the food is always hot. Dishes I've ordered are: dry braised string beans (nutty goodness), fried rice with vegetables (the sweet peas are slivered for a perfectly proportioned crunchy taste), fried rice with beef (with a balanced amount of green onions), chow fun with beef (never disappoints), Kung Pao chicken (good spice), and walnut shrimp. I once ordered a scallop dish that tasted like faux scallops and was mixed with sliced water chestnuts which seemed like an odd combo to me, but to each their own. If i could give 0 stars I would tbh im visiting my sister from out of town and we decided to hop in because it smelled good when we walked by earlier. When we came in to eat this time, we were sat down at the tiniest 2 seat table in the restaurant by a teenage boy who was the host even though almost all the other tables (and entire restaurant) were empty except for one family. We politely asked the host could we sit at a booth instead whereas he replied they were reserved, almost asked us to just sit where he initially put us and then finally said we could sit at the booth. After that, we waited 10 minutes before we flagged down what seemed to be the owner and he took our appetizer order and left however we kept waiting and realized the host was helping another family and taking another groups order, both of whom came in after us. So we waited a few more minutes before we AGAIN flagged down the host and asked could we order and he brushed us off by saying "yah later" then went to sit down behind his desk. After that, he went back and forth helping other customers and going to the back without taking our order. The entire time we were there, not once were we acknowledged as customers. We had to flag down the owner/manager again and try to complain about what happened but he didnt try to listen, care, or even apologize for such rude service. The entire experience was awful from start to finish and really just disappointing because my sister was really hungry. I think it may have been an issue of prejudice because we were the only people of color in the establishment. This place and the staff just sucks period. PS We ended up going to a thai restaurant around the corner called pearl thai eatery which was amazing and im going to give 5 stars read more

I just love this place. The food is good old fashioned Chinese. I know everyone raves about the orange chicken and I have to admit it is one of the best I have ever had. My personal favorites are schezuan chicken, or shrimp, or dried string beans. I have not been disappointed with any of the dishes I have had here. I like the vegetable dishes because they are always fresh, no frozen here. The atmosphere is comfortable. You can have a nice date or a group of friends and either will feel comfortable. The staff has always been attentive and willing to help me decide on dishes to try. read more
