Love this local Chinese restaurant in my work neighbor of Pasadena, Ca. I'm going to miss it when my office moves. They have very good lunch specials. Pretty much anything on the menu can be a lunch special, but they have a very large selection on their menu. Their Wonton soup and the Hot and Sour soup are really flavorful. The Chinese Spareribs are sticky sweet and wonderful. They also have a great Chicken in lettuce cups dish. Enough to have as a light lunch or dinner on its own. My personal favorite dish is their Dry Sautéd String Beans. Amazing especially if you put the garlic and sauce on the rice. The service I can't comment on since I do take out. The place looks run down but don't let that discourage you. The food is mostly authentic and tasty. For quick no-nonsense service this is a good option My favorite is the seafood with the vegetables sort of a stew which is just the right amount of spice. They didn't have green tea or diet soda at the time we are but that's nit a big deal. Since the other location closed this is the only Grandview palace location left (family operated for 15 years!) I highly recommend ordering via Postmates and picking up! My food was ready even before the estimated time I was given. Granted, this was 9pm on a not-so-busy Wednesday. Had not been here for a while was surprised to see this place is still surviving the high rents. Their Chicken fried rice, egg foo young, and the Mongolian Beef never disappoint. The service was great! The staff as always very humble and very kind always refilling our drinks. We came in late so it was very quiet. $65 for a dinner for four. We have ordered pickup & delivery at least 10 times now, and this place has THE BEST Lo Mein, just like NYC in the 80s & 90s..smoky and delicious. Not only is the food good, imo; but, the customer service is enough to help keep me coming back. I hadn't realized that my order was pick up; thinking I'd ordered delivery Chinese because my dad wasn't up to going out. While waiting for our food, I got a call. The grilled cheese dipper was an explosion of flavor with the perfect crunch to accompany the bisque for dipping. First time trying out this place and i think i found my new take out place. I ordered through yelp delivery and I got the lunch beef with string beans and the lunch mongolian beef. I had the beef with string beans and it tasted really good. Not too salty, not bland. The string beans were also cooked well. Not too crunchy but not soft either. My fiancé and I went on a Sunday to have lunch. We were the only customers there. The food was served very fast but tasted as though it had been microwaved. We have eaten at many Chinese food restaurants, and this is by far the worst. The table was sticky. The menu was old and dirty. My egg drop soup was orange and oily and the food was very bland in taste. When they brought my food to the table my egg roll was cold. I wondered if they gave it to me from a previous customer that didn't eat theirs. The customer service wasn't very warm and friendly either. I remembered Grandview Palace when it was located on Fair Oaks and California as I used to frequent it for lunch over 10 years ago. They had the best kung pao chicken I've tasted since it wasn't sitting in a bunch of flavorless sauce and the chicken had a nice wok-fired taste to it. Fast forward to today where I am now a practicing vegan, newly located Grandview Palace has the best tasting kung pao tofu and dry sauteed string beans me and my fiance have tasted. Portions were sizable so two dishes and white rice were plentiful between the two of us. We can't wait to come back and try their other vegan-friendly dishes and am so happy that Grandview still exists 10 years later! read more

Overall bill came out to 10.59 for lunch special. It comes with choice of soup (egg drop/hot and sour), rice (white /fried rice) and salad and an orange slice. I got the Lunch special Mongolian beef with stir fried onions. I started with the hot and sour soup and in my opinion, it was way over salty tasting for me. The Mongolian beef was very tender and there was a lot so I appreciate that. I had leftover beef and onions. Alot of onions which I don't like but I brought home as leftovers. The grain of rice was different than I've had before but was not too my liking. I am giving this restaurant a 3 but I say decent prices for the amount of food provided especially for Pasadena. The price is worth it. If you're hungry and want something quick, I would come here on a budget. However for taste wise, I have had better Chinese food in China Town and other places. read more

Grandview Palace has become our go-to Chinese takeout, especially during Covid. We love this place so much, and not only is the food always tasty and always hits the spot, the owner is one of the friendliest people we run into dinning out. Seriously, incredible, and he's always there to great, remembers what we like/don't, and he makes every visit a pleasure. We've tried a good portion of the menu at this point, though have fallen into our favorites, for sure. The Mongolian beef is incredible. Love the Kung Pao and string beans. Delicious egg rolls, and whether you go vegetarian or pork, they're always crisp, never greasy, and stay warm and delicious even taking them home. I'm very happy we found this place on our hunt for a good Chinese restaurant. Whether we're in the mood for a good chicken dish, or some spicy noodles, Grandview never disappoints... The menus are falling apart, there is one guy working in flip flops at the front, the tables are filthy, white pepper always empty, a guy who looks like he is the dishwasher taking orders and it's always empty but my son and I keep coming back and order the same thing every time and it's great. Guys I use to go to the grand view on fair oaks , then the one on Colorado both in Pasadena. Then this one came on Raymond and I recognized some of the same staff. I came here often with he fambam. I ordered delivery last week, and I had to pretend the food was good because my hubby spent 100$ for our family of four. And he had a tuff day so I didn't want to make it worse So we get our egg drop soup that taste like straight up cooking oil and very orange in color, I knew from the look nope ain't right. I taste my wonton soup which is my favorite from here , nope gross. No flavor and the cabbage taste old. The soups taste days old . We try the orange chicken, mushy and taste old. Not even one chili inside the dish which is their trademark for us. Then We try the combination lo mein, old soggy shrimp weird taste. Then I try my cashew chicken, Guys the cashews also like soft and soggy tasting. Not crisp like a damn cashew. I get these dishes allllll the time guys. Then you won't believe this, the crispy noodle for the soups, stale as hell. Oh and then the jig was up everyone spit the food out and we threw it out in the dumpster so we didn't have to smell it. I like the fact that their dishes aren't swimming in grease or drowned in too much heavy, starchy sauce found at most American-Chinese restaurants. Came to this place with family and we were all disappointed. The place was empty , should of seen it as a sign. It looked outdated and worn out. I've been going to this place for years. This one occasion I went for lunch and ordered chicken fried rice. The chicken was old. Hard as a rock like it had been sitting in the open air for days or potentially from someone else unfinished chicken dish. I ate it and told myself I would never go back. I ended up going back tonight as I was in a rush. I brought up my previous experience to the manager (same guy who's always there). He couldn't have cared less. I didn't even get a simple sorry. I have spent hundreds of dollars in this place if not thousands over the course of eight years. I can no longer endorse this place.
