Came here before Megan Moroney concert and was super convenient with a three minute walk to Golden 1. Was excited to try the french dip after all the reviews and our server's recommendation. Don't get me wrong- it was good but I don't think anything made it the best. Also had a side of the mac and cheese for the table which was also good. Enjoyed a martini and House Linen cocktail. Was good but not sure it was worth the price. Server was friendly and attentive. I'd go again for convenience and good food though.

Was in Sactown for a few days and was surprised by the amount of tasty food in this town. My colleague and I needed to hit a quick dinner before heading to an evening mixer. I ordered the Crisp and Copper which is their take on a mule. The drink was definitely crisp tasking with that pop of lime, ginger beer, and some aromatic bitters. For my entree, I just had to go with the Braised Beef Short Rib. Seriously, this short rib was so tender, but without that stringy mouthfeel that you sometimes get with improperly cooked short rib. It was sitting on top of creamy potatoes, surrounded by a rich, brown sauce. Yes, brown sauce to which some people would refer to as gravy. But this sauce was incredibly deep and flavorful. The dish was garnished with bits of fried Brussels sprouts that added a nice, textural contrast to the dish. The dish was 10/10 for me. My colleague had the filet mignon, also served with the brown sauce. He ordered medium rare and it looked amazing from across the table. The restaurant offered expeditious service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a big wire installation on the ceiling shaped like a giant whisk. I didn't get a pic but it was a cool artistic statement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio was lined with yellow trees decked in twinkling lights, representative of the City of Trees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Drunken Chicken Salad
    Jen-Ann L.

Heck yes, I will pay $21 for this salad. But obviously not every day, or even every month. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is also packed with the business moguls, lawyers and shakers of the community, and perhaps a government crony (me) from time to time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are always very nice and attentive even with a full house on a Monday lunch! I love love love the Drunken Chicken salad. It has become nostalgic and comforting to me. The chicken is fine, but the star here is the huge croutons, springy yet still crispy, the goat cheese, and the fresh avocado. It is a beautiful combination. Also, I think an order of fries a la cart is fairly cheap, so just add that to your order and you'll have a good time. The fries are shoe string type for maximum crispy, crunchy texture. Overall, I can't get enough of this place but the prices are just a bit too high for my liking. But hey, there is no shortage of people coming in so they're doing it right!

Excellent food and service. Shout out to Kylee for her diligence in making sure my wife and I were of sound mind and appropriate age to partake in adult beverages. Leveled up happy hour food. The best spot to eat/drink at before any events at Golden 1.

    Deviled Eggs!

Craving g French Dip? Look no further than House Kitchen & Bar! We started off with their Deviled Eggs - with a perfectly pickled whopped flavor and topped with q pickled caper. This can come in a tray of 6 or 12 egg halves. Then I had to get the famous French Dip that had crispy onions inside the sandwich! The au jus was fab and I also got the creamy horseradish. The accompanying fries were crispy and a delicious companion for the sandwich. They have other items such as their Filet Mignon, Po' Boy Sandwich, and more. Definitely want to come back and try more

10/10 stars they serve a lot of the business folks in downtown Sac so I feel like that heavily influenced the good service, the food was amazing!! I got the salmon with the soy ginger sauce , instead of the mustard glaze because I hate mustard , and I mixed it with sriracha and it was delicious!! , the chef made some some type of crispy Brussel sprout zuchinni medley and it was bomb , he crisped those brussel sprouts perfectly ! , my colleagues ordered the tacos , gumbo , and the short rib sandwich and no one had complaints about their food , the appetizers were the short rib sticky fries and the Mac and cheese, I didn't try any of that but my colleagues mentioned that it was delicious, they have a limited vegan /vegetarian option but they do have something for everyone, the service was excellent, everyone was friendly attentive and helpful , including the chef !!everyone here deserves a raise or at least a bonus , because they are representing their employer very well , [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance is perfect for a business lunch meeting, date night , or simply wanting to treat yourself![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You won't be disappointed

    Prime French dip

We love visiting House when we are downtown. The Prime French Dip is the best in town for sure, but I've been counting my calories lately so yesterday I tried the Blackened Salmon salad. It was so good, perfectly dressed and I ate every bit. It was pretty full at lunch so definitely recommend a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got a nice spot outside under the trees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is always great and Chef Chris is the best!

Top notch eats near the Capitol. My favorite here is the tamale corn cakes appetizer. It's a unique dish that encapsulates the local Mexican culture. The cheese pull is beautiful, the soft inside texture of the corn cake with the outside being crisp and topped with mild chile verde salsa and sour cream. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Enjoyed the shrimp po boy, lots of crunchy shrimp piled on soft bread. French fries were delicious as well. Service here is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is clean and caters to high end customers and even the most casual diners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the cream churro's with ice cream. It was a lot but we finished it all :-D House Kitchen is not to be overlooked. With plenty of downtown options this place should be checked off your list sooner than later.

A group dinner while on a Collette tour was enjoyed by 43 travelers at House Kitchen & Bar. We had a special group dinner menu with different starters, entrees and desserts. Such an amazing delicious dinner was enjoyed by all! Great customer service by the restaurant!!

Sweet corn tamale cakes. Appetizer but ate as entree. Sweet and savory.

Food: great lunch, happy hour or dinner spot. The food is fresh and tasty. They started offering daily specials which is new and so worth trying. Service: great! Always love the chef and owner assists and will deliver food and check in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: sharp with clean colors and lines. Perfect for business lunches or a date night[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Recommend reservations as they get pretty busy during the lunch hour and when events are happening at the G1 Center. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have great out door seating with umbrellas when the weather is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a relatively small inside dining area but they maximize space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great large square bar area with seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Been coming here for years, way before covid. I noticed a few things that are no longer on their menu, but food and service is still great. For items that were on the menu but are no longer on the menu, such as the Salmon Poke bowl, ask your server, they may still have it.

The sticky fries & French dip! Oh my!! We made sure to get the fresh horseradish and also the cream horseradish, so yummy!! I'll definitely come back!! Love this place!!

Looking for a good spot in Downtown Sacramento? House Kitchen & Bar is a solid choice. Their menu has a great selection of classic comfort food with a contemporary twist. I personally loved the Braised Short Rib. It's tender, savory, and so filling. If you're just looking for something quick and to share, the Sticky Fries are a great option! They're perfectly crispy and have a unique flavor. The large portion size is also a plus with it. Food here comes out quickly and the service is attentive and prompt. Definitely a must try restaurant.

The Ravioli was delicious, spicy with slight crunch of the pine nuts and the cheese combination was a delight. The service was friendly and fast! The place is cute, and lively. It was quickly packed with happy customers. I'd recommend a reservation. Now the cons... they were out of the octopus appetizer I really wanted. No big deal. They didn't have gnocchi on the menu. That made me sad. Either of those I can get over. What I can't get over is that it was SO HOT INSIDE!!! Like sooooooo hot!!!! It ruined my meal and I couldn't even eat desert because I needed to escape the suffocating heat inside. Also, my bad for wanting pasta in 100 degree weather so I won't let it make me take a star away when they deserve it. Maybe I won't go back until fall though.

The theme of today's meal was unfortunately S A L T…read more The Octopus appetizer was the best part of the meal. The yukon gold potatoes were amazingly crispy with a nice bite to the skin. The inside was pillow-y soft, and when mixed with the salsa verde was full of flavor with a fabulous punch of garlic. The salsa verde could be put over a nice flank steak and it would absolutely kill. That said, the octopus was a bit *too* crispy. I felt I had to really chew to get it down, and I just wanted a nice snappy skin for some textural juxtaposition. For my entree, I got the Bolognese which was definitely full of salt. The pasta was wonderfully thin and bouncy, but I feel the chef may have had an off-day. My friend and I had to down like multiple cups of water with our meal which made it hard to enjoy. Plus, the garlic bread felt like biting into a brick. The inside was quite fluffy and soft, but the crust was simply too crispy. I almost felt like my teeth were going to give way. Honestly, I can't in good faith recommend this place to my friends, so neither would I recommend it to you. (aside from the pasta classes)
