This place right away reminded me of the mom and pop restaurants in Southern California that had a little bit of everything. You have your choice of wings, hot and cold sandwiches, potstickers, and teriyaki bowls. I opted for the pastrami burger combo, which of course means with fries and a drink. The pastrami burger was cooked perfectly, and was topped with (surprisingly) good quality pastrami. The pastrami even seemingly had a peppery aftertaste to give it a little kick at the end...very tasty. The fries were your basic crinkle cut, but each fry was hot, crunchy, yet soft in the middle. It's rare nowadays to find french fries fried consistently. The owners/cooks were very friendly as well. Summary: Basic, basic, basic...in the way all the food I ordered should be. Nothing "grand," but if you want a meal that will satisfy you and your cravings, come here. Yuck! $10 pastrami burger combo. Clearly a frozen meat- substance block...undercooked to a squishy texture. Pastrami was ok...grilled slightly & placed on top of burger patty. Its good food, nothing over the top that would make me go back again. I ordered a steak combo large( large is super small) mozzarella sticks were only 4 pcs 4.99 i thought my husband and i could spilt the large s sandwich and mozzarella sticks but it was only enough to feed one. I got a root beer float my total was 22.21 for one person to eat. Plus i waited 15-20 minutes. Like i said good food but not worth the wait nor the price! The first time I have been let down by Yelpers. I pulled several thin strips of plastic out of my sandwich. I assume it was around the salami in my meat and cheese combo. Nasty. I ate about a third of it and dumped the rest. The first clue that this place was not good was there was only one person in the whole place at 1pm during lunch. I won't be back here. We have come here for 4 years now and just got some take out today, horrible !! Will not be going back at all. I called to tell them what was wrong and asked if they were new owners and indeed they were. We ordered 15 piece wings with sauce on the side and they gave us a ranch size cup of sauce enough for a 5 piece so we couldn't eat the rest of our food. The fries usually so crispy and good were undercooked and soggy like most of the wings. My daughter got the garlic parmesan they were so salty she couldn't eat them. We also had watery ranch and cups were half filled. Only good thing was the carrots and celery. We have loved this place for so long and its so sad it has gone to owners that are going to let this place go. This place sucks bad. I gave them a 2nd try as it's on my way home and as soon as I walked in got turned off. The place is shabby bever anyone there. It's dingy and everything looks sort of old and worn out. I ordered a large #1 all meat. The bread was stale, the salami had the string around it still, there was hardly any meat. .. It was just bad. On Manzanita and Auburn Blvd. We love wings and so we had to try this place. It's an old, dingy diner look inside. The cashier had his collar popped and was ready to take our order. The place had booths, small TVs, a Coke drink station, and a counter space next to the cashier. The cashier also had a receptacle labeled for Tips and Refills. I've never seen this Tips and Refill combo before.. anywhere. We took a seat in a booth. When our order was ready, the cashier brought it out to us. Their wings ranged from mild to something ridiculously hot sounding. I think there was 7 or 8 levels of hot here and we started off with medium. Medium is not very spicy at all. Neither was their "Hot". The sauce is chili oil-ish and buttery. And the wings were overcooked so saucing them up didn't even help it. Their fries was a combination of regular fries and crinkle cut. (Mostly crinkle cut). I'm used to one or the other and having a uniform type of fry. This didn't bother me. It's just something I noticed. However, you'll be using the salt and pepper on your table for these as they have no flavor. This was a disappointing meal. read more

Found this place to be close to our home, so we made an order online for pickup. It got me back on my bicycle for once. I'll ride to go pick up burgers any day. Wife had a lettuce wrap, Kids had cheeseburgers (little girl had bacon on hers) with nice crinkle cut fries. I settled for sweet & Spicy wings with fries. I chose the sweet & Spicy because there was no chance i was going for the Nuclear wing flavor they offered... lol... I actually ended up finishing my kids burgers, because they were full! Came here today and we order to cold subs, mine the turkey and cheese and my husband's the number 1 all meat one and two orders of fries with nacho cheese on the side. The fries and nacho cheese were good but the subs sucked, I only ate half of mine and tossed the rest of it. It lacked any flavor, way to much bread ratio compared to veggies which there was hardly any, hardly any meat and the meat tasted like the cheap stuff and super thin and I didn't even see or taste any cheese on mine. Husband didn't like his either said it had no flavor and was one of the worst sandwiches he has ever had. The prices aren't terrible but the really but even that can't make up for the lack of flavor. First time here even though we live 5 minutes away for years. My son was craving wings so I made an online order for pick up. The website was very easy to use and pay for the order. When I arrived 15 minutes later as instructed the food was just being bagged from the kitchen so it was hot and fresh. We ordered 10 mild wings and a hamburger combo with fries and a drink. My son devoured the wings and he's a very picky 9 year old, they were slightly spicy even for mild but so good and crispy. I ordered the hamburger plain with ketchup and mustard only, no veggies, no cheese, no mayo. This is always risky when I order online at most places, but thankfully Granites got it right and I was very grateful. The only minor criticism I have is the lid section next to the fountain drinks was messy and someone had used their greasy wing fingers to dig through the lids and left saucy prints on literally all the lids. It was really gross especially in Covid times. Other than that I really liked this place, they were fast the food was good and they were super nice even though they were very busy. I almost didn't check this place out based on the low overall rating from Matt S's one star review. But, after checking local.yahoo.com and reading Mark's review, I decided that I should give this place a chance. And, I'm sooo very glad that I did. I walked through the front door and felt the welcoming atmosphere. I was greeted immediately, but I didn't feel pressured to order that very second. The bright red bar stools at the diner-style counter right in front of the door said, "Sit down. Take a load off." So, I sat right down and read the menu and didn't bother to stand at the register. Normally, I order, then hover. It's rare that I feel comfortable enough to sit down. I took my time looking over the many items they offer, but I knew what I went in there for: Wings and cheesesteak sandwiches. I noticed an additional sign that said they are now offering teriyaki rice bowls. It said that the teriyaki sauce is homemade with natural ingredients and fruit and vegetables. I'm curious to go back and try that. They also have a filet of cod sandwich that sounded good. Distractions aside, I placed my order and paid with my ATM card (.65¢ fee). While I waited the 10 minutes for my food to cook, I surveyed the restaurant and appreciated how clean it was. I enjoyed the diner-style touches beyond the red stools and booths, such as the metal walls around the kitchen and a pass-through window for the food. Then, I spied the shake set up. Ice cream in a cold bin, with flavors in enclosed metal trays and the large shake mixers. During my wait, a shake was made, and it looks like they use whole milk. I am coming back for a shake for sure! I didn't pay attention to the time, but my order came up, I chatted with the owner some more, and headed home to eat. I thought the smell of the wings on the way home was going to be the end of me. I was drooling by the time I walked in the door. I ordered the wings, Nuclear hot. Oh, they were so good. It's the most wings I have eaten in one sitting, ever. They were crispy and covered in sauce, the way I like them. Oh, I did ask the owner for a recommendation of which flavor to get and he asked what level I liked my food spicy on a scale of 1-10. I told him I liked about a 7-8, so he said to get Nuclear. He was right on. It was a nice amount of heat. I could go for one level hotter, but that would be for more of an appetizer, not a whole meal. The wings came with carrots, celery and what tasted like home-made dressing. I would give my wings alone 5 stars. My husband had the nacho cheese steak sandwich combo (mushrooms, onions and cheese). I ordered the medium, which is about $5.50 and it was HUGE. He liked it and said he would order it again, but he really wished it had more onions, green peppers and some more seasoning on the meat. But, he said he realizes that this was probably a very traditional way to serve a cheesesteak sandwich, so it wasn't a complaint about the way it was cooked, as it was he'd prefer a different recipe. The bread was soft and fresh. My daughter had the plain nacho cheese steak sandwich, small for $3.75. An excellent deal as the sandwich is very large and filled to the brim with meat and cheese. She loved it and ate it all up. The fries were bland, tasted previously frozen and we pretty much avoided eating them. The onion rings were superb. They even traveled well. They were crispy, nice thin pieces of well-cooked onion and I love the batter. With all the diner-style goodness here, the only thing that disappointed were the fries. If they started using real potatoes, I'd be happy to pay more for them. The prices were a very good value. Good enough that when I'm feeling too lazy to cook, I won't feel like I'm killing my budget to run over here and grab some hot sandwiches for dinner. I will likely upgrade this to 5 stars after I visit a couple more times and order more items. I can easily see being a regular here. read more

5 stars for the Buffalo Wings... as close to the real thing as I can remember them to be back in Buffalo NY. I ordered them 'hot', and they came out piping hot, perfectly coated in orangy hot sauce...just the perfect heat I was hoping for. Wings were only drummers (I do like a mix of both parts of the wings) and were done perfectly... crispy on the outside and jucey on the inside. I dont fill my wing cravings too often (ok, not the healthiest snack on the planet....), but when I do, I can still count on this Granites. The person serving on the recent evening I visited was very nice and appriciated my comment on how authentic the wings tasted. Maybe he was the owner...not sure. Interior hasn't changed... The fried zucchini was delicious! But I am biased since it is probably one of my favorite things to eat. At least in the top 20. Wings are just not my thing, so if you like wings, be sure to try them! The staff was friendly and helpful. They were patient with me when it took me a while to figure out what to order. They have Stella so I was happy on the beer front. They do need to get more taps though. All in all, if your on a budget and like wings, this place is your go to. read more

Ok, first off, I'd like to say that I am a wing snob. I lived most of my life in upstate NY and worked in many bars and restaurants, making many wings. The Original Granites crew is from Rochester and from what I have been told know how to make good wings and many other NY favorites. When I heard that Granites offered "real" Buffalo wings, I just had to try them, as every other wing I have had out here has been pretty awful. The wings I had were very small and the sauce very oily. The hot sauce was what I would consider a medium at best. Way to much margarine or whatever butter substitute they were using was put into the wings, resulting in the oily sauce. The service was adequate and my wife had a hot dog, which was fine. After visiting this establishment, and complaining to the people that recommended it, I found out that I had visited the wrong location on Manzanita Ave. Evidently this was sold to the current owners years ago? (not sure if this is true, but is what I was told). I visited Granite's Original Grill & Deli at 4141 Manzanita Ave and found out that this is the place to get real wings in the area. They are not fried-till-they-float, but fried until crispy. Big difference.... Plus the wing sauce was true to form for real buffalo wings.
