Great local pizza place in east Atlanta village! The pizza and cheesecake are amazing. I'm constantly needing good vegetarian options and they have two great pizza options and the gourmet veggie is unlike anything I've ever had...the fried eggplant definitely adds to it. I gave them four stars just because I hate the wait if I order ahead and then have to wait in line when I get there. I like Grant Central Pizza. I enjoy the kind of pies they serve there where you can order an individual slice. I don't think this is the kind of place for people who are into gourmet ingredients. The service can run a little on the slow side sometimes, so its not somewhere I'd go if I was in a super hurry. I've never found it dirty. This is just a no frills pizzeria. Brought my Granny and cousin back a pie during our Thanksgiving vacation and they both wanted more the next day. Location isn't the best but this is the best damn pizza I've had and I'm from NY!!! So is my cousin and grannies originally from Pittsburgh but grew up in NY. The recipe and whoever is cooking is the bomb.com. I just pray you always stay open!!! I liked it. The service was very good. The pizza was okay. I had the veggie pizza and there was enough cheese and veggies to enjoy. They had wine specials and beer specials. I think they ran out of wine glasses, because the the wine was served in tall shot glasses instead. Overall it was a good experience. read more

Yay for NY style pizza out side of NY! Love having a slice spot in other cities. Came in during the recent PBR fest in the area and absolutely smashed a few slices here. They were solid and I was happy to see other classics on the menu as well (calzones, specialty pies, etc.) The place is pretty big inside too. Lots of booths, communal tables, a few TV's strewn around, and enough space to hold a line when ordering (it moves fast). A 4-star spot in my book... but 3 for now due to them uncharging during the fest. $4.25 slices during PBR fest, which are normally priced at $2.95. Super lame. read more

Usually go to the Grant Park location for calzones, but went here recently instead. Not worth it - we ordered three, they each were way too bready and all of the toppings (which were pretty sparse) were centered in the middle so most of what you're eating is dough with a lot of cheese. read more

The bubbly is self serve here, which is always wonderful. It's a bit sweeter than your average classic, seems the carbonation ratio is a bit off. While I usually only comment on the Coke in my reviews, I have to say that if it wasn't for the excellently tasty food, this would be a one star establishment. I've been here a few times now and a few of the women employees that work here seem grumpy, don't have any simple manners, and any kind of request made to them seems to be such a burden. I would like to start off by saying I never had a complaint about this place and I've been coming here over 10 years but lately their customer service is really bad they serve me a white pizza with red sauce who does that not only that it was on Sicilian bread which makes the taste of it a hell of a lot different than what it's supposed to be they told me I did not know what a white pizza was and they gave me a refund back but reluctantly. I have eaten here often and have referred people to this place. As of today I will NEVER walk in this place again. We ordered our salads and pizza. It took about 30 minutes for us to see food. The brought out our pizza for two of us. And we mentioned that we also had 4 salads and a slice of pizza as well. The waitress apologized and said they were training a new cook. Finally after about 10 more minutes there brought out one of the salads. Then about 5 more minutes the brought out our side salads. Still waiting on the pizza slice. Three of use ate while our friend was still waiting on a slice of pizza. When the finally brought out her slice of pizza, she requested a togo box. The waitress looks at her and replies if I have time. Then I requested my charge card receipt back so I could remove the tip. She ignored me went and go a to go box and informed us they don't offer table service. If you should need something you have to get up and go and get it. I went in to speak to the manager to express my concerns on customer service. His cook told him I would like to speak to him. The Manager speaks up from behind the counter and says I do not have time to come over and speak to me. He then rudely has me what do you WANT!!! I explained the the situation and he told me they don't have waitresses. I requested my charge card slip back so I could remove the 8.00 tip I had left assuming they had waitresses. the quality of the pizza is good, but the consistency of how good it is changes every time im there. most times, its really great getting a slice of the super or gourmet veggie. sometimes the pizza is slightly more greasy or wet. once it was just boring. but i always felt like i got my money worth, so no problems there. my belief is that their best pizza is made by the industrial/rivethead dude. and their worst pizza is made when the industrial/rivethead dude has to listen to somebody else's crappy play list. So, I've grown up in Atlanta without amazing pizza. Felini's has been the go-to thus far, but now that I've discovered Grant Central Pizza? Hands down my favorite in Atlanta!! I've also lived in NYC for a bit and know a good pizza when I taste one. Grant Central, you have done the south well. There are 2 locations, one in EAV and one in Grant Park. Each has their own personality: EAV is larger and more of a group meeting place in a fab locale obvi; GP location is smaller, but has a cozier feel and is set in more of a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood. You can go there after playing your sport of choice with the dirt from the field and no complaints come your way! The tunes playing overhead set the alternative atmostphere, but are never too loud. The selections of special pies range from the Cardiac Arrest for the carnies and the Super Veggie loaded with AMAZING fresh ingredients sprinkled with shredded mozz. Yum! You also have the choice of building your own with an extensive list of add-ons, or picking a non-pizza option and get dishes such as their baked lasagna or one of their hot/cold subs (the meatball is awesome!). Their side salads are light and only $2.25 if you're sticking to a healthier option and your budget. And while the beer list is not huge, it is packed with good and hearty brews on tap and in the bottle. I have heard the complaints about their aloof staff, but you should know this before walking in: this is a pizza joint!! Not a Michelin-Star rated restaurant!! They serve good grub and beer! Go with friends or a casual date so there is no need to chat up the staff. And even though their pies and hot dishes may take a little longer than you'd like, it just means the satisfaction is all the more worth the wait. They've got arcade games for the kids if they need to let loose and the vibe is chill and not rushed. Yes, Grant Central is that good. Prices are decent--you can make it cheap or go all out. Warning to those who want GC at home: they do not deliver--you must pick up. My roomies and I opt for that whenever we are feeling the pizza craving at dinner and it never ceases to disappoint! I have to say that there is nothing over the top about this pizza place. It is your regular tattooed crowd that works there taking orders and flipping pizza. The pizza and pasta are OK but for some reason Doug and I always find ourselves coming back for more. Maybe it is that you can get pizza by the slice, maybe it is price or it might be that it is just around the corner from our house. All I know is that I will keep going back until I find out the reason. Oh...if you get a bit of time say hello to Kevin. He will be the one close to the front door flipping your pizza. I haven't been to too many pizza places in ATL, but this is my jam, fo sho. I love the indie rock jams they play, and they've got Sweetwater, which works for me! The pizza slices are big, crisp, tasty, and cheap; the gourmet veggie with breaded eggplant is off the hook. Usually, me and my man get 4 slices, a small spinach salad (which at $3 is a steal!) and drinks and the tab is usually under $20. Today had urge to order a pie to my miss fortune I attempted to call a order in. My order was rudely taken by an employee who placed me on hold first then, informed me that 2 phone orders were made prior to my call for 14 pies. I then asked if my one cheese pie could be made prior to them. The cashier said no and hung up on me. In amazement I called back asking if she hung up by accident. Her reply was talk to my manager who responded to my request with no also. I could see if this was a out of bounds request for one pie. What happened to customer service? Now, this may not be a fair review because I have stopped going there because of the problems I noticed, but basically I started calling this place Roach Pizza. I kid you not. I used to frequent this place until I noticed the bug problem they were having. It grossed me out. The last straw was late one night after hanging out at Mary's we checked to see if they were open. We walked up their back deck, and there were several that scattered away from us. Several more minutes elapse and I say to pizza monger "gey its ok can i have it now, i have no run". "Oh" she says "you have to leave" (no i blocked off the whole day for your sour face). I got food poisoning from the pizza. It was the end of the night and instead of making a fresh pizza or informing me that they were sold out, I was given a slice of pizza that must have been sitting all day. I took it home and couldn't believe how funky it looked but I was starving so I ate a slice. Tasted horrible, couldn't eat the rest. 20 minutes later i was violently throwing up! Then the next day I was sick to my stomach, nauseous and had the runs. I had to leave work early! I called them because I was so upset, and they offered me a credit for another pizza... They realized that the order was wrong and attempted to fix it buy covering the entire pizza with feta cheese. This place is hit or miss, and lately its been much more miss. If you order a slice with mushrooms or onions, expect them to be completely raw and just sitting on top of the pizza. When it's good, the cheese pizza is good, but it's too often lacking cheese, folded over in the box, or burnt. Going with a group of 4 or more, I usually expect at least one person's order to be disappointing or completely wrong. And there's a good chance you'll wait 10 minutes for a single slice of cheese pizza. On the plus side, when it is good, it's a good value and a much needed offering in the bar-food laden EAV. But I wish they would step up their game a little bit. I'm starting to lose patience. By the way, for groups of 4-6 it's okay, but more than that, it's not a great place because the only seating option is in the dead center of the restaurant in front of an often too-loud speaker and it gets impossible to hear each other. read more

We ordered a med pizza with mushrooms, olives and artichoke hearts. After waiting 30 minutes, our pizza came out soaking wet. After bringing this to the attention of the staff, I was told that pizza with veggies tends to be wet. The pizza wasn't just wet, the olives were swimming in liquid. He gave us a refund after he and another staff laughed about it. Grant Central has been one of our go to places for years but after the wet pizza and mocking staff, we will no longer eat there.
