California Love gives me mojito vibes....DELICIOUS Opted for sides of egg whites, linguisa sausage, and a bagel with cream cheese and this FABULOUS raspberry jelly for my meal. The others ordered the Breakfast Sandwhich, pumpkin chai hotcakes, smoked salmon spread on rye crisps, and Heavenly Hotcakes. All of which was enough for 2 to share. My friends and I came for dinner on a weekday and the wait was not bad at all ~15 minutes. The interior was well decorated, not too loud so we could still have conversation, and the waiter (Robert) was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was great and came out quickly, despite the restaurant still being busy. There are great options for vegetarians, pescatarians, and gluten free options as well. Everything that came out was well seasoned, not overly greased, and well portions which is appreciated in LA. The drinks were also good and potent which is also appreciated in LA. I loved Granville! We came by to celebrate with some friends during Dine LA and the food was great!! All our food was delicious and the entrees all were very generous in portion sizes. Foods that we loved: - Uptown Mac & Cheese was super delicious and cheesy! The asparagus was a nice touch - Grilled Salmon: generous serving of salmon with mashed potatoes and I opted for the corn. Terrific restaurant! Most of the restaurant is open to an outside, covered patio during beautiful weather so it feels very airy. Big ceiling fans above the patio maintain a comfortable breeze. Service was quick, friendly, and very helpful. They have many vegan and gluten-free options. I had the Chipotle Chicken Club with a side Caesar Salad (just the right size) and the Brulee'd Banana Brownie (vegan and I took half of it home). The sandwich was not too spicy at all. I'd say all the dishes were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The food took about 10-15min to come out, we didn't wait long! We started off with the Garlic Tomato Brisque. It wasn't too tomatoeyyy or thick. The grilled cheese dipper came with small slices of toasted white bread that we dipped in the brisque...crunch in every bite so goood! The thick-pork chop had some flavor to it, and it wasn't dry at all. The cran-mango compote on top was tasty with every bite. It wasn't too sweet and didn't take any flavor away from the pork chop! I'm a big fan of mashed potatoes and I have to say it was pretty goooood! Not too watery and not chunky at all! As for the skirt steak we had ordered medium rare. Cooked perfectly in my opinion, not too juicy. The steak came with a side of salad tossed lightly with vinaigrette dressing. I was a bit worried that it would be drenched in dressing but it wasn't! We had to try one of the pastas. We went with the Angel Hair with our choice of shrimp for protein. Perfectly balanced white wine clam sauce! I didn't get a picture of the shrimps because they were in the middle but they're not small shrimp, they're actually decent sizes and juicy! Had to end the lunch with desserts so we went with Brûlée'd Banana brownie. I'm not much of a dessert person, I'd say it was a bit too sweet for me but for a brownie it was really moist and soft. Dependable and delicious, Granville is one of my go to places. When I first saw Granville, I thought it was a corporate chain restaurant, but despite their having several outposts in the area, the food is honest food, cooked to order and really excellent. The bar serves great cocktails (a really excellent old fashioned!!!), and the appetizer and small plate menu has enough wonderful items (try the taco trio or butter lettuce cups) that you can sit yourself at the bar and have a great evening without ever ordering a main dish. Other standouts include the pork chop, which is, I believe, one of the best in town, the butternut squash soup, which is so very good that I once ordered a second bowl, and the Thai ginger mango soba noodle salad (which I order with grilled shrimp, delicious salmon, or if I'm particularly l peckish and needing protein, both! I tried the Soba noodles and about fell off my chair they were that good. They were warm, full of flavor and had my palate screaming for more! The Tuna was cooked perfectly and I will be dreaming about this dish until I come out of my peaceful, happy place food coma. Every single plate at our table was presented like an art piece and we all agreed we loved what we ordered and ate. We got 3 desserts for the table, the banana splits were the absolute highlight to end the night. The upscale, yet casual ambience, the stellar service, the beautiful presentation of the food, & the flavors of each dish were all a well deserved mark to get this place a 5 star stamp of MY approval.
