I have to bring my rating down. I had an oil leak for months, which was causing my oil to empty after 5000, then 3000 miles. Every time I brought my car in, Scott assured me there was no leak and that my car was simply getting old. So he just changed the oil, and suggested that I brought my car back in every month for more of the same. When I ran out of oil only 1000 miles later, I took my car to Midas, who promptly discovered the leak, and couldn't possibly understand how "the other shop" didn't see it. They botched their first fix, but corrected their mistake when I came back two days later for a routine check, as per their recommendation. I did run out of oil again after driving 1000 miles through the mountains with a clogged catalytic converter and an absolutely packed cargo, but everything seems fine now. I'd been happy with Grapevine Automotive over the years, but this particular incident (along with a handful of other mistakes) makes me question the service I received that entire time. If I still lived in Grapevine, I would no longer have them service my car; therefore, I cannot in good conscience recommend them anymore. read more

However, the last couple of years, we've actually had bad experiences. We've had 2 different vehicles that we've had to bring back, because they weren't repaired properly. Dayne and his crew are incompetent, terrible at communication, and do not tell the truth. They claim that they love to work on classic cars, but they actually have no idea what they are doing. They kept my car for over a year, repeatedly telling me it was almost done and how great of a job they were doing. When I finally gave up and demanded my car back I found that not only had they lied about the amount of progress they had made, much of what little was done was done incorrectly and they had damaged other systems on the car. I came in on the following dates to get my A/C fixed. Please review the bullet points and dates as follows: 1.) I came in first time on 7/27/2012 @ 1:00 PM and my invoice was printed at 2:53 PM; Tec advised, "A/C had a bad Valve Core and replaced it and added A/C Refrigerant " Labor $78.00 = total invoice to $ 123.05 2.) Came back the next day due to A/C not working your shop was not open on Sat. 7/28/2012; 3.) My daughter brought 2002 Ford back on 7-30-2012 to have it looked over; a. Tec advised at this visit a hose was bad and replaced it. She was there for over 2 hours; b. Left work today 7-31-2012 and A/C did not work again; 4.) Brought it back again due to A/C not working at 4:40 PM; a. Tec (Scott I think is the guys name) advised it's not our fault but I'll check it again for you; b. Tec came back and advised I had a hole in the A/C compressor that was the problem! He offered to put some freon in for free; just so I didn't have to drive my car home hot! Can you believe this? If it had not happened to me I wouldn't believe it either! The owner of the company Dayne West, wrote me an E-mail and agreed I was not serviced very good, but also mentioned he would not refund my money. Due to they were out their time and parts. They never did fix my problem even after three attempts. I will NEVER be back for any auto work from this company! And, to make it even worse. The auto company that did fix my car had a customer in the waiting area. That told me of their bad treatment with Grapevine Auto. And, how they tried to take them for over $2,500 for car repairs and come to find out all they had problems with was a fuse that had gone bad. Which only cost them $50.00. They were smart and didn't give them any more chances, they went for a 2nd., opinion. I guess you live and learn. Take my advice and stay clear of this company! This is a very bad company! It is hard to find a trustworthy place to get your car serviced these days. The people at Grapevine Automotive Services provide top-notch service from beginning to end. I don't live near Grapevine but I find that it's well worth the drive to get excellent work at very competitive rates. The are always polite and knowledgeable, and the technicians warranty their services because they have confidence in the quality of their work. Also, they will arrange for a loaner car or rental car if you need one. One thing I really appreciate is that I can get honest advice from the technicians. For instance, a few months ago I needed several major repairs. I didn't have the money to cover everything so I asked the technician to help me determine which things were necessary and which things could wait. He helped me figure out a plan of action without any salesman-like pressure that I'm used to getting at other places. Go ahead, get a quote from your normal auto shop or your dealership. Then go to Grapevine Automotive Services and get the job done, most likely for less money and with a longer warranty. read more

Probably the worst experience I ever had with a repair shop in over 25 years. Took my car in for a brake job, waited over 3 hours and the place was empty - why? because they had the wrong pads at first which they put on then realized it was wrong. Less than a week later there was a strange noise coming from my rear tires which quickly became increasingly worse. During this time I also had a new tire put on so I took it to the tire shop. They showed me the brakes had fallen because the bolt was missing! Brought it immediately to this place and the owners response was "Well we don't walk on water". Great customer service despite their major screw up. They finally did that right and we asked for an oil change figuring they couldn't mess that up. Well they did. I brought the car in last week to a new shop for an oil change and it was revealed they damaged my filter, costing me an additional $150. The Tech showed this to me within 10 min of pulling the car in the back, further proving these "mechanics" did it. I wouldn't recommend bringing a 10 speed bike here let alone a car. read more

I've been going to Grapevine Automotive for a while now, and they've kept my car(s) running in great condition. They're definitely less expensive than going to a dealership and work on all kinds of cars, including oldies and customs. I never like paying money for fixing things on my car but I love that they keep track of all the details on what needs to be serviced and how to stretch my dollars but keep my car in great shape. We've done 2-3 "new-car" inspections, three pieces of body-work due to accidents, and pretty much all regular maintenance with them and haven't had any issues. Everything is pretty no-frills there, but everyone who works there is very knowledgable on cars and real friendly while waiting. Took my car hear for wheel work. I thought it was going to cost a lot more than it was so I was pleasantly surprised. And they were honest about not having to change parts that I thought I needed to. I finally have a mechanic shop I trust. When I go to buy a car, I will make sure to have them look at it to ensure I am getting a good deal and find out all that is wrong with it. I was referred to Grapevine Automotive by a friend 11 years ago. After paying high prices for parts and service at the Toyota dealership, I was so relieved to find Dayne and Scott. Their pricing has always been lower than the dealership on repairs and they are honest with me if I need something fixed on my Sequoia. On several occassions the dealership would tell me I needed a major repair done immediately only to find that Grapevine Automotive would tell me I had plenty of time to fix it and it was not as critical as I was told. It would have been easy for them to "find" things that need to be fixed but more times than not, they talk me out of major repairs. It's so nice to know that I will get a straight, honest answer on my Sequoia repairs. I'm sure I've saved a lot of money over the years due to their honest, professional approach. my van threw a belt and sheared a bolt on the way to the airport. I had to find a shop quick. if I had to break down I could not have found a better place. though they couldn't get to it that day because I pulled in at 4:20, they got the work done the next day, did a great job, and didn't charge me an arm and a leg despite having me over a barrel. if they weren't an hour away from where I live I would bring them all my work. I had my car serviced at GAS. Even though it was just an oil change and some other minor things, I never had any mechanic shop make me feel like family. I wasn't some dollar sign to them. Whenever you go to get work done on your car you always fear that they are going to come back and give you a list of things that also need done. I took my vehicle to a large dealership in Grapevine for a recall and by the time it was said and done they had a long list of things that needed to be fix that was going to cost me upwards of 3K. Took our F150 in to get 2" from lift to level it out. We supplied our own leveling kit and asked how much it would be, twice, up front. The estimate was $350 and the final bill was over $600. The owner worked with us in a very honest manner and cut the bill down to almost meet the estimate. The customer service even in a miscommunication situation was excellent! read more

This review is specifically for Dayne. I just moved to Grapevine from SC so needless to say I don't have a mechanic or really know where to go yet, but I needed holes drilled in my front bumper for my new TX license plate. Not knowing how to do this I called Grapevine Automotive seeking help. Dayne was so gracious to help me at no charge! Unfortunately, in today's world you just don't see that very often but it meant more to me than he'll ever know. As I shared with him, the overall reviews for Grapevine Automotive Services are fantastic and I will use them for my car services; however this was more about character and going the extra mile for someone needing help, which equates to excellent customer service! It may seem like a small and trivial thing but it certainly made a huge impact on me. I would simply recommend this shop based on good moral character. I'm always willing to pay more for that!
