BUILD YOUR OWN hashbrowns with chocolate chip pancake
    Ashley L.

I've had the Shack a few times now and I really like it! I can see why it's somewhere my friends who are STL locals all say to go visit when I'm in town. The food and portion sizes are great for the price. I've always gone on a Saturday or Sunday where it's 60+ minutes wait, but I just put my name on the list through their online system and wait at home, run errands, etc. it's really not that big of a deal for me. Service has always been nice and friendly, and it's always fun to see all the writing on the walls. One of these days I'll remember my marker to leave my own message somewhere.

Our waitress was amazing - she went above and beyond and was so friendly and kind to our two kiddos. My Lemon Blueberry Pancake was incredible - too big to finish! Husband loves his Big A#€ Burrito with loaded hashbrowns on the side. 8 yo said the hot cocoa was the best he's ever had in his life. 4 yo devoured the sausage. Go here!

One of my favorites for breakfast. This place always has a wait on weekends, but it's worth it!! I highly recommend the corned beef n hash which has a squeeze of spicy mustard on top for the perfect touch. It's a busy, loud place, but it's because the food is just so good!

It's a pop up bar!!! Alyssa was our server. Friendly and attentive. Private parking lot. Funny quotes on walls. Upon walking in pretty, and festive. Decorated beautifully. Plenty of picturesque moments throughout. Staff friendly and welcoming. Bar area available. Seated in the rear of the building, my party would have rather been seated in the middle to actually feel the vibes of the festivities. Cute cocktails and appetizers available for purchase. We ordered for food loaded fries/ funnel cake fries/ and pretzels with queso. All were good . Drinks we ordered were you little vixen you / I like to whisper too and a chocolate drink . Prices were reasonable. Restroom was clean and there is a surprise button in there that will definitely bring a smile to your face. I really enjoyed myself overall. Great experience.

Nice place for breakfast or brunch. Menu items have catchy names. They even have a special gluten free menu, which is great! I had 'Do my pants look big' and liked it, except the brussel sprouts were prepared with bacon grease. That heavy flavor made my dish not as flavorful as I hoped as the bacon grease flavor was dominant. Good service. Interesting walls, filled with writing.

A holiday pop-up extravaganza. The space is very cute and festive, and definitely puts you in the holiday mood. We had a larger group, so it was a bit tricky to keep track of our drinks and server since they seemed to rotate a few times. They did cut us off pretty firmly at the two-hour limit, which was a little jarring but understandable given how quickly the place filled up. There's a cute sleigh at the front for photos, though I wish there were a few more photo-ops throughout the space. The drinks were delicious, fun in their presentation, and reasonably priced for a pop-up. The food was decent as well--just a few shareable apps for the table, but enough to snack on. Not a bad kickoff to the 2025 holiday pop-up crawl ahead

This is an easy access breakfast place that gives you abundant food for a great price! There are many restaurants in the area... if you want to get great breakfast come by with your family! Lots of seats for your family.

COUNTRY FRIED STEAK, MAKE A GROWN MAN CRY

This was my first visit to the Frontenac location, and my first visit to a Shack in quite awhile. I was pleasantly surprised to see the prices haven't gone up much at all. Both our servings were huge. The country fried steak wasn't the best I've ever had, a bit thin and overcooked, but my partner loved his "Make a Grown Man Cry" burrito. The highlight of our meal was the service! Jennifer was excellent and constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. Food came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered even with it being a busy Sunday at brunch. The holiday decor was still up too, which was a nice vibe for our meal.

We love the Shack! We have visited multiple locations and always leave satisfied and full! The service is always great! The food is consistently good! It's not overly loud, but you can expect kids and normal noise levels from surrounding tables and the bar area. On this visit, we had the sweet avo-ritto burrito, which has sweet potato tots, avocado, egg whites, bell peppers, and cheddar cheese in a wheat tortilla with a side of fresh fruit. The other meal was the shack classic, where you choose your own eggs, meat, and carb. This time was two eggs sunny side up, with bacon and white toast. The classic also comes with enough hash browns for a family of four. You will not leave hungry!

Very nice upbeat ambiance; love all the signatures all over the walls!! Hubby had to get his eggs remade as he ordered them over easy and they were over hard upon initial delivery. Hot tea tasted like coffee; waitress Hayley was very attentive to our every need! She brought fresh hot tea with a new teabag! Hash browns were greasy and very crunchy. Hubbies skillet was full of grease and he couldn't eat much. Maybe we will try it one more time.

My visit to the Shack Breakfast was for a Christmas themed pop up bar experience and and experience it was. There was a very limited menu for the pop up bar and I was okay with that as I was not very hungry on this this. I decided on an order of funnel cake fries and they were amazing and a hot cocoa with a splash of liqueur, it was so pretty I almost didn't want to drink it. The service was great, the workers at the reservation desk was very friendly, they offered to take me and my friends pictures of ourselves that we were trying to take, I really appreciated that. The ambiance.... the pictures does the decorations no justice, who ever decorated put all of their heart and soul into it. If you are looking for a pop up bar experience for Christmas put this on your list, you will not be disappointed.

Such a cute place! My partner & I stopped in for a late brunch, and we were taken such good care of by Traci at the bar. Mimosas were perrrrfect & the food was delish! Typically a busy place, so best to arrive early and get on the waitlist. They seem to move through it quickly :) Ps- upgrade your hash browns!

Located just off the interstate, it's a convenient location. The shared parking lot can be a struggle to find parking. Absolutely call ahead, there is usually a long wait. We did call ahead seating 40 minutes ahead and waited about 15 minutes upon arrival. Expansive menu for breakfast items, adult drinks, etc. Everything we have ordered is great. Servers are always super friendly, but they are so busy they don't stop often. Because it's so busy, it can get loud. Overall, everything is always great.

    Do you have a waitlist?

Their waitlist can be found on their website. It's only active when it gets busy. Butttt...check it often they will go slow to super busy within an hour.

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

No. They do not offer bottomless mimosas.

I know they don't take Reservations, but can you at least get in line? I have a pretty big group. Maybe 10 people for a brunch on Saturday. Does anyone know how they put you in line, is it with your phone number or those buzzers?

Before discussing the food, let's talk about what's most important, and that's our waitress Eve. Our table of four had many questions regarding food as well as wine, and Eve had thoughts and recommendations for everything. It was a pleasant change from other servers when Eve had some recs for things that weren't the most expensive items on the menu (we've all experienced the servers who only recommend the top dollar plates). Eve listened carefully to what we wanted and had appropriate and mindful suggestions. Eve knew all about the wines and helped us pair properly per plate. The rest of the staff that crossed paths with our table were kind and helpful as well. As for the food... the Truffle Agnolotti was as to die for! Omg. Amazing. Full of flavor yet not heavy. It was the star of the table. Lastly, we were impressed with the selection of appropriately priced wines by the glass.

Shortly after I sat down, we started with cocktails, I went with an old standard, but my husband and son tried signature drinks, and I highly recommend the Milk dud martini (it's almost dessert). We then moved on to salads, some had the Italian salad and some had the Caesar - both were good, but the Caesar was served in a tortilla shell.... would have been better in a parmesan crisp cup. I selected the Sea Bass special - it was perfectly cooked and was in a perfect sauce. My husband and son had the Reagan pasta and my daughter in law had the Busch chicken all cooked to perfection. I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.
