We were in Grand Rapids for a swim meet and we stayed at the hotel in the same parking lot. While we were in GR there was a substantial snowstorm and other than the swim meet, we were either at the hotel or at the Taphouse. We had drinks there one night and dinner and drinks the next. My husband was in love with their tater tots. They are clearly homemade and huge. I thought they were good, I didn't love them as much as he did. I did order a dirty martini with my dinner and had to send it back because it was sweet. I don't know if they accidentally used sweet vermouth or what but I stuck to wine after that. The staff was friendly and helpful. The décor is really nice. Felt very upscale but the prices weren't too bad. Good menu selection a the bar had a pretty extensive beer selection. All in all, I was glad that this was the restaurant near our hotel. read more

Could've easily split our order due to portion sizes. Food was good, tortillas were doubled on the tacos, so, when I ate mine, I pulled off the extra tortilla. came with a side of chips. Today was our first time visiting and, WOW, what a fantastic experience! Our waiter, I can't remember his name now, but he was so on top of it! He kept bringing refills without even having to ask! My husband is a beer snob and asked him for recommendations based off his preferences and the waiter nailed it every time! When it was time to go, he brought a to go box without even asking, and had a to go drink ready to go! We've never received this kind of service before, and it was just fantastic! 2nd time trying and was much better than the 1st! Friends wanted to meet on a Sat late afternoon for dinner and drinks. It was pretty busy and loud but love the decor and vibe. The bartender made a mean sazerac but the NY sour left much to be desired with poorly balanced flavors. The fig and goat cheese bruschetta was AMAZING!!! Seriously get it! The goat cheese & roasted vegetable dip however was bland and lacked flavor. Although the bread for my junkyard Reuben was significantly burnt and I had to eat it as an open face, it was a good sandwich! Friends enjoyed their food and drinks as well. Being a little further from my house I don't get to Gravity often enough. I had a few iffy visits early on when they had first opened, but since then I've been consistently happy with the food and service. While I haven't taken advantage of their outdoor area during covid shutdown, I heard about the January Steak Special they are having and had to check it out! My husband and I both ordered the special: 10oz new york strip, mashed potatoes topped with bacon, scallions and cheese, and chef's choice vegetable. In the comments I requested medium rare to medium, and both were cooked perfectly! The potatoes were a different consistency for mashed potatoes. They actually had some texture, which I really enjoyed. My husband commented that they were extra salty, just how he like them (so if you don't like salty they might be a little extra for you). The veggies were good, if a little under-cooked for my taste. Overall, for the price we paid I am extremely happy with the meal, and would order it again if we happen to get back out that way in January. I hope they run a special in February that's equally delicious! read more

A group of friends and I arrived at gravity around 5:57, and were promptly seated at a safely distanced table. There was no wait for our table. We were shown a QR code on the table that we could scan with our phones to find a touch-free menu. The beer and wine list was printed on paper, so it was just thrown away after we used them. Drinks were served in a timely manner, orders were taken quickly, and food arrived lickety split. I ordered the Buddha bowl with chicken minus edamame. It was fantastic! Absolutely superb! I cannot wait to come back and order it again. The snow peas were amazing! The chicken was done perfectly! The quinoa and lentils were perfect. The dressing was light and citrusy. It is now a new favorite that I will be craving for sometime. We stayed for our 2-hour block. We paid in a timely manner. All the staff is masked. Gravity has done a great job with any kind of restrictions. We felt very safe dining in at this restaurant. Well done, Gravity! We will definitely be back. read more

Absolute worst group dinner. $21pp for pizza buffet, that we learned was based on 1/2 of a 10" pizza per person. We ended up with 2 pieces of pizza per person. We asked for more pizza, that would be an additional charge of $3.00 per person. Kids are still hungry, bill for pizza alone was $168, plus a 25% gratuity, party of 7. A whole pizza is ~$16. We could have ordered 10 pizzas... Management would not make it right. read more

I always can't decide what beer drink so go to Flight. They have my kind of beer!! Food I choose shrimp pork polenta! It was hit! Meat lovers pizza was amazing! I got a seasonal alcoholic drink, Joe Frost. Best coffee drink I have had, a little too strong for my taste but still delicious. When first entering it is very dark inside, but after a while you vision does become adjusted. Our server was not the best, I noticed all the other serves were very attentive and nice while ours was not. We have been to Gravity multiple times and have never been disappointed. I love that they are always changing the menu as it provides variety and I can always try something new. The atmosphere is calming and relaxing. We always love the service, but on our most recent visit we had Alyssa as our server. It was probably some of the best service we had there. She was so sweet and engaging with us and other customers. She was also attentive to all our needs and gave great recommendations for food. We will definitely be coming back for more (and requesting Alyssa!). read more

Used to live this place but haven't been back in a while, and they have changed many things. Happy hour is more expensive than it ever used to be and they changed up their menu a bit as well. Also, they switched up how they make their beer cheese and it is too salty now and so are the pretzel bites that come with it. I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Enjoyed a late Sunday meal for our second visit here. The first visit was a private Christmas party last year, so I didn't write my review. The drink list is very impressive with tons of options off of a tap. The tater tots were a great start to our meal and a must try. Being a slow Sunday night, our food arrived very quickly and it was right after we received the appetizer. Other than that, we really enjoyed everything. The wild funghi pizza was fantastic and full of flavor. My fiancé enjoyed the arugula salad as well. The design and atmosphere is phenomenal and very spaced out to enjoy a perfect date night. Update: we visited again and it wasn't the same 5 star experience as the first few visits. The pizza was still fantastic but they missed the mark in a few other areas. We were excited to show my parents the tater tots and the middle of them were actually cold and undercooked. It was more like cold mashed potatoes inside the tater tots. Our waitress was friendly and helpful but she was running around as it seemed they were understaffed. There were open tables everywhere but the hostess had us wait for about 10min because none of the empty tables were cleaned off. We had to ask for silverware after about 15min sitting there as well. A large group came in and sat next to us that smelled horribly like weed. The whole section smelled horrible. Luckily we were waiting for our bill and left shortly after. Pretty disappointed that it seems the experience is going down hill from the opening first few months. read more

Second, the steak special is fantastic -$18 for a 10oz, mash, and grilled veg. Add on a bottle of house wine for $16. When I first bit into the chicken wings, it was heaven! Perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, very juicy on the inside. Whoever created your process needs to go sell her or his services to every other restaurant in Grand Rapids! But - the flavor. Where is it? There wasn't even a sauce, just a dry rub that did very little for me. As Escoffier or whoever said, sauces are concentrated flavor. That's where you can really pack a punch. And you just don't even take that opportunity? Then I got the lemonade pie. Same deal - where's the flavor! If you're going to serve lemon cheesecake, then call it that. I'll expect a bland hint of lemon (and I'll still enjoy it!) But *lemonade* is evocative of explosive lemon flavor - like lemonade is? The berries they served with it were really damn good, and I overall enjoyed the dish. That's why I'm here, that's why I still gave it 3v stars. I rarely review a restaurant, but the potential here is obvious. But don't be afraid of flavor! Get yourself the blackened mahi tacos at Blue Water and see how *every* element is explosively flavorful. That's what you should be shooting for! read more

Saturday afternoon on a cold January in for an early dinner/late lunch... Gravity did not disappoint. 64 beers on tap , lots of unique menu items to wet your petite. We started with scotch egg, their version split and served with mustard ,the egg soft and yolk runny . It was decadent and well priced for the portion size. We also sampled the Cobb salad with steak and its one of the best Cobb salads in the area, as well as the bacon and pickle pizza . Now we had to be sold on the combo for a pizza but my daughter loved it . The standard burger is done nicely . All in all a way to beat the winter blues . read more

Stopped in for a team dinner for the first time. Being out of town, we don't know what we don't know. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Super important for a newbie. He was able to give me the recommendations I needed to start our dinner off right. Lots of beer choices and the menu is also filled with lots of options. I looked at what everyone ordered as the food arrived and it seems that the Ruben was a favorite since all the dad's (3 of them) ordered it. I ordered the Gravity Burger with fries. Yum!! We ordered brussels sprouts, a Reuben sandwich and a pub dip sandwich and some onion rings as a side with the Reuben. The sprouts were way over cooked, basically dehydrated. The Reuben was burnt and the onion rings dehydrated as well. The dip sandwich was ok. The best thing was the cut fruit. Not worth the $80+ we spent for sure (which included delivery). Pretty good food, though it took quite a while to come out (late afternoon on a Sunday when the restaurant was otherwise empty). The power salad was good. Another person in our party got the Texas Reuben - delicious! Obviously I should have chosen that instead, but I was trying to be healthy with a salad, silly me. Do yourself a favor and get the sweet potato fries as a side. They are waffle style and perfectly crispy. Another person got the nachos, which had great flavor but the chips were a little stale. First time on the outdoor patio. Super cute plus great spot for those with Covid concerns. While the tents some places have will keep you warm they don't exactly have the airflow. This patio has walls around to block you from the wind but enough openness to have great airflow. The fireplaces are a great touch. I got the lobster gnocchi this time around which was pretty good. It was described as butter and saffron poached lobster with house made gnocchi, peas, tomatoes and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce. I do wish it punched in a little more flavor and more of the toasted bread came with it but overall good and value is on point at $24! Service was spot on but I will note that when I went two weeks ago they were limiting time at the table to an hour or an hour and a half. We got to stay longer as they were not putting new people on the patio as it was reserved so we got lucky. read more

We live in GR and we gave this restaurant a shot the other night and were less than impressed. Everything was over the top salty. The calamari was SO salty it was inedible. We ordered quite a bit and my friends agreed but still ate. I couldn't. Service was good. When I called earlier to see if they would be playing the Super Bowl and the answer was yes, we would have appreciated the heads up that they closed at 8. We were reminded the moment we were served, 30 minutes after arriving, that they were closing soon. We could have known that ahead of time and that's our issue for not reading their hours but dang... what a crummy experience. read more
