I have been coming to this Grease Monkey for years and had multiple vehicles serviced. The last time I was there, I spent over $600.00 on my ford F350. I was on my way home today and made a right off of 212th into the grease monkey parking lot. The owner was fueling up a generator that was being towed by what I assume is his Jeep. They had so many cars lined up, that there was no access to the 7-11 (my destination). One of the attendants (the manager) came out and said he wasnt going to be able to give me any room to get thru. I asked if he could get the keys and move one of the vehicles. He told me that that's business. I informed him they were blocking access to 7-11, which is also a "business". At that point the owner rudely told me to "go around & that they were not going to move a vehicle for me. I told the owner that I am a long time customer but would no longer be doing business at this location. He pointed to the jiffy lube sticker in my window and said that is not his sticker. I then informed him I have multiple vehicles and he just lost all of my business. As a business owner in Edmonds myself, I cannot believe how rude the owner and attendants at this location were. Maybe after reading this they will take some classes on human interaction and good business practices. read more

You know how we all hate getting the oil changed. I don't know what is worse, the waiting for them to get to your car (unfortunately Saturday mornings are the only time available for me) or the doom and gloom that awaits you when they start to check the rest of the fluids. The problem I have about the up sell is that I'm pretty sure that the techs are compensated for everything they may bring in after the oil change. About 4 months ago I was there and the tech came out and tried to up sell me on some wiper blades, I was going to take him up on it but the price was twice as much as the lady he quoted in front of me. So I passed. He was good enough to tell me that my battery needed to be replaced which I took care of later that day. I also picked up some wiper blades and installed everything myself. Fast forward to my last visit and the tech comes out to up sell and I cut him off and tell him I only want the oil change, he says OK but your wipers are looking a little flat. What the heck??? I just put those on a couple of months ago. They're good for the oil change but be careful of the up sale. read more

I called the shop at 3:45pm on a Saturday to see if they could replace fuel filters on my truck that night and they told me they could do it if I got there before 5pm. I show up at to the shop at 4:30pm and the guy working tells us he already let his whole crew go home for the night!! They don't even close until 6pm! I drove 30 minutes to get to the shop only to drive back home because he let his crew go -SO irritating and inconvenient!! read more

It's always difficult for me to trust anyone to perform work on my vehicle...even if it's only an oil change and occasional "other" services. I've been shafted by a couple different service stations in the past until I gave Grease Monkey a go. I've been taking both my vehicles to this Grease Monkey for the past 6 years. I never feel pressured to purchase additional services. When I do purchase additional services, it's because I actually believe the service needs to be performed based on experience with the car, in coordination with manufacturer's specifications...not because I feel pressured by Grease Monkey salesmen. The technicians make the recommendation and if I say no, their fine with it and simply do the oil change. They have good customer service and their quick. Notes: There is a television (usually sports), free coffee, coloring books and crayons if you have a child/children with you or you are feeling creative, and it's across the street from Burger King and Dairy Queen just in case you want to get some grub. There's always a coupon for Grease Monkey in Val-Pak if you live in the area. read more

I've gone to grease monkey multiple times. Upon one of the times they caught that my back light was out (awesome). However since Covid I've been having to cut back on expenses. My boyfriend said he'd take care of my oil change these couple times around... well guess what? Like A LOT of these one star reviews my cap was on tight. I couldn't get it off for the life of me. My boyfriend gave it a go and what do you know? Dough has been having his employees put a yellow seal on the caps. This damages the engine and now I have to go out a get the stuff his employees tampered with replaced/fixed which is not in my budget. This has been the ONLY place that has touched my car this last year and a half. I am ridiculously upset as trusted his business to take care of me. If they do not fix this and get it taken care of I will place a claim with their business insurance company and have them take ay for the damages. read more

Pay attention to your car, your details, your invoice. I have been going here for years, every 3 months like clockwork and only have had my jeep cherokee done. Usually had the whole gamut....then I found out that the differentials only need to be done every 20,000 miles. Really? They charged me $27 each time....granted I didn't have it done every 3 months, but still...who puts 20,000 miles on their car in a year? Not me...this is a spare, winter time, bad weather, let's go camping vehicle.....Went in to talk to the manager and not very nice....said "you should pay better attention next time". I am a freaking woman!! I understand upselling, etc...but really? I would NEVER EVER recommend this place to ANYONE!!! and have reported them to the better business bureau because this is poor business practice..... read more

I stopped by this place to get my oil changed because I wanted to support a local business instead of the jiffy lube chain. It was a mistake. It was 5pm on a Thursday the place was empty, service was fast and friendly. They asked me if I wanted to change the air filter too, which they already took the liberty of taking out so the could hold it in front of me and show me the dirt on it. It was only $14 so I agreed to have it replaced. Fast forward to the next day; I'm sitting at a light singing along with the stereo, the light changes, I hit the gas pedal, nothing. Car is dead. "Crap" I think, did I accidentally take my foot off the clutch while the car was in gear? Been a really long time since I did that... I quickly restart the engine and go back on my merry way, until the next light. This time I turned the stereo down, I double check to make sure I'm in neutral, I am, and I watch as my RPM needle fluxes wildly then bam, dead car again. Long story short I take the car to My Mechanic (literally thats the name of the business on 96th and aurora, best mechanic I've ever had) and it turns out the folks at grease monkey did not re-attach the air filter properly, which apparently can cause the car to die in neutral, oh and just for fun they removed some bolts and didn't put them back on. I guess those are gone forever now. Will NOT be going back. (Car is a 2007 Subaru impreza WRX in case anyone was wondering) read more

I had a horrible experience at Precision Auto Tune Up in Lynnwood, so I took my car here directly after Precision (who by the way didn't even check my car!!). Grease Monkey said my oil was low, tires not aligned and filled, things not checked and topped off, etc. After I told Grease Monkey of my experience at Precision they re-did the whole check and oil change for free!! I couldn't believe it. Who does that. I was so impressed with their customer service that I will be going back here for sure! They really took care of me and told me how I could get all of these great oil coupons, etc. So nice! And they give out restaurant coupons which is an added bonus. I had a great experience! Especially after feeling so defeated at Precision which took 2 hours for them to do nothing. I was in and out of Grease Monkey in 20 minutes. read more

It's about average for a repair place. They are quick I'll give them that, these places always try to up sell you on their maintenance and I get it that's how they make money but it bothers me when they are pushy. If people just want an oil change let them have it and be on their way. read more

Got my oil changed here last week. Service was fast, staff friendly. I thought my car needed spark plugs due to it taking alot of push on the pedals to accelerate my car. They recommended a treatment for the fuel injector. My baby is now herself again and running smoothly. Thank you! read more

Grease monkey did a good job. I got a synthetic oil change for my dodge dart. Reasonable price ($70), good customer service, done in 20-30 minutes. Why 4 stars then? One minus. On my sticker that they put on my car they told me to come back in 3,000 miles. Do not listen to the sticker, do a research first. My car requires an oil change every 8,000 miles, not 3,000. I love this Grease Monkey! Hands down the best place to take your car. I've been taking my truck here for over 3 years and I love it. Great customer service, quick waiting times and my car always drives better after I leave. So far I've had my oil changed, coolant flush, rear differential serviced, air filter replaced, serpentine belt replaced, and some lights replaced. The guys are always friendly and aren't pushy and annoying with reccomend services. I always like to know what I need done and can refer to the sheet they give me when I come back and know exactly what I need to pay. To make it even better they give you coupons to Azteca when they ring you up! This is the only place my fiance and I will take our cars to. Absolutely love this place. read more

I've been having my car serviced here for 8 years now. Here's the skinny. The bad: * They once stripped the bolt that grants access to my transmission fluid. And, they didn't tell me about it. I only found out about it when I took my car in to my mechanic for an unrelated service. *Every now and then, they'll forget to do a requested service. Last year, I asked for a wiper blade change to go with my oil change; they pulled the car out of the garage without installing the new blades. I was in today, and the same thing happened to another lady. They might consider actually writing down all the services that a customer requests as s/he pulls up to the shop. *As a couple of other reviewers mentioned, you have to be wary when they try selling you on one of their other services. For example, they'll insist that an engine flush is recommended (by whom, I'm not sure; my car's manufacturer doesn't recommend it) once a year. I went in November 2013 to get an oil change and after looking at my engine they told me my oil was very clean and no oil change was necessary. I have used this Grease Monkey for all my oil changes for about 3 years now. I sometimes have a coupon, which they honor without question. They do advise me of extra things when they need attention, such as the windshield wipers. They are not pushy, and on the contrary the technician is understanding when I say "No" or that I'm having the work done elsewhere. There has never been a problem Since I do regular maintenance on my car, I am confident that they are being honest with me. I did have them replace the wipers because I knew they were worn out as they didn't clear the windshield. For me, the convenience of getting it done was worth the few extra dollars. I have found the technicians to be fast, polite, and friendly. I really like this place. read more

I usually go here when my 3000 miles are up in the morning or early afternoon. I have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for them to get my car in. They observed a 'herniated' hose in my car and the owner himself went to the parts store for a replacement! I have a 1999 Jeep and plan to keep it running as I am not in a position to buy a new car. I did not get the "full service oil change" at the Grease Monkey at 150006 Hwy. 99 Lynnwood because their coupon was not applicable to cars requiring synthetic oil. There is no reference to this catch--just that the coupon worked for "most cars." A large and growing percentage of cars now use synthetic oil so the coupon should have specifically cited noted this condition. I thought I would pay only about $34 (before other fees, taxes, etc.) and not $60 (before other fees, taxes, etc.) Beware--Grease Monkey issues highly misleading coupons! John C. read more

They were upfront and didn't try to overcharge/upsell me on stuff my car didn't need. Quick and friendly too.

As long as you are somewhat mechanically inclined you should be OK. They always bring me my dirty air-filter, which I beat the stuff out and run a compressor over. Transmissions, transfer-cases, antifreeze, and differentials rarely need to be changed so I opt out. Batteries will give you a warning, by turning engine slowly, or just read dates, good for four years approx. I should mention my dad is a Toyota mechanic, I have access to everything at his home, hoist, welders, air, and most you could need. I will put said cars on hoist once or twice a year and do a good days maintenance, checkout, and so as it needs. But when said car is in need of oil/filter I have found they are competent enough for that. Even if you tell them that's all you want, they go through the others. Know not to get suckered into everything and you will be just fine, your car will be happier too. Make sure to check what they advise, as I'm not always right. read more

Horrible service!! My family has taken our cars here for years and last time I was here they charged $70 for a full service oil change on my moms car. The receipt said they checked both coolant and oil and when I got home the oil wasn't even registering on the dip stick and the coolant was completely dry! Who knows what else they didn't actually check or change on top of trying to get me to add on extra services. I didn't even bother going back to try and get my money because I had to fill both fluids myself and wouldn't be able to prove they screwed up because I needed to drive the car! I come to these places because I don't have the time to do every car myself! But because I'm a young woman they think I don't know what's going on. I have now been advised by an older experienced mechanic to never go here because these guys are thieves and will screw your over! They have now lost our whole family as customers. Screw you guys! About 2 months ago Brent and Zach RESCUED me at a Shell station before 8am! My engine had shut down and my car was going nowhere. They figured out that I had lost my oil filter and that it was the wrong make. (Big opps on the mechanics part). The guys were so SWEET - they ran back to their work, grabbed the correct oil FILTER, filled up my OIL, brought me back to their shop where they DE-GREASED the bottom side of the vehicle, looked over the rest of the engine, and ONLY charged me for the oil. Never had a bad experience here at the Edmonds Grease monkey. They're always really good about recommending maintenance services and I've actually never felt "pressured" like some of the comments below have lead on. The service is fast, and the workers seem to stay focused and on task to ensure the cars get in and out as quickly as possible. I feel a lot more comfortable bringing my vehicle in here than anywhere else. They also are really good about sending oil change service reminders with coupons in the mail and It's always $7-15 off... SCORE! read more

I had been going to a different Grease Monkey for years but unfortunately my local Grease Monkey recently closed. So I had to decide whether to try a different auto place entirely or to stick with Grease Monkey chain. I'm glad I went to this new (to me) location. Everyone there was kind and professional and they provided great car service. It was worth the extra few miles to the next town north of me. The price was very good and they only took 20 minutes. We started going there just after they opened years ago and fell in love with this guy!! He is the most open and honest of anybody in the motor field. He and his employees have saved us countless times by just knowing there stuff!!! What I like the most is they get to know YOU and your car. Recommend Only what you need and get you going. If you DO need the service, they don't pressure you into it, but suggest it. I like that!! I know that the fluids in my car are important to the maintenance, but in these times who can afford to have everything done at once? They always make sure I only get what the car really needs at the time and have saved me money over the years. I still drive the same car and I know that it will last me for years more because of it. I have worked at nordstrom for 3 years and when a customer comes into nordstrom they are expecting to get the best of the best. not just with customer service but with the products. I will always show them the best products first, most of the time those are the most expensive products that we offer, I'm not one to judge if someone has alot of money or a little amount of money all i know is that they are there and know what to expect. I'm there to service the customer first and build my paycheck second ( we work on commission) With all that said I'm responding to the older posts made about Grease Monkey. all of them say something about how they were pushy with their products. I didn't felt pushed to get products I simply knew they were trying to make money!!! isn't that how businesses survive people!? I want to know what they recommend and then I will decide if I want to spend that money. they did an excellent job. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS. when I went into jiffy lube or even the Shoreline Grease Monkey, as a girl I notice the waiting room and how comfortable it is. Out of all of these places Edmonds Grease monkey looked like a living room, and you knew it had the women's touch inside which was nice. fast and efficient. when i go into grease monkey I know I'm going to get an oil change and if something else is offered I think about it. just like when I'm selling something to a guy at nordstrom, he may not need a new pair of jeans but guess what he will probably buy it if I "SHOW" it to him...thats just smart business. read more

I Have never written a yelp review, but I do read them. I have been going to this location for about 2 years now. My husband and I both took our vehicles there about 2 years ago and they decided to roll down the window without asking. Well, the window was broken and we could not get it to go back up. $250 later, we had the window repaired. At that point my husband refused to go there again. I continued to be a patron and yet every time I get an oil change, the low oil light comes on at about 2500 miles. I thought to myself that maybe my car was starting to burn a little oil at 80k miles. I had some regular work done with my mechanic and he changed the oil and I had zero problems until about 3500 miles (expected). Last week I took my car to Grease Monkey and when I left my low tire light came on. I drove home and checked the pressure and sure enough, my tire was low. I took the car back to this place and they informed me that I must have dirt stuck in the valve and that they "are not tire people" and told me to go elsewhere to get it fixed. I asked why they were messing with my tires to begin with. Two days later my low pressure light is on again. I ignored it for the night and guess what...flat tire today!!! So that makes 2 tires that lost air after visiting this place. I'm done, you lost another customer! Good luck to anyone going here as they take no responsibility for their actions. read more
