I went with a friend to eat on Memorial Day around 5:15pm. The restaurant was not crowded and we were sat quickly. Our server was very nice and took our drink order and directed us to the buffet which looked well stocked. After a salad I went to get some roast cut but no one was manning the station. Once the young woman appeared I asked for her help and she told me to hold on I will be there in a minute (ok). After a moment she came a cut off a hunk of meat that had obviously been sitting and was so dried out that it had changed color so I asked for a different cut that was fresh so she cut on the same side but a different location that was also dried out and discolored. I asked for a slice that was fresh and she threw down the knife and walked away, came back with a different knife, cut a huge chunk and when I said that's fine she threw down the tongs and it told me to take whichever piece I wanted and walked away in a huff. Other customer standing there commented about her attitude and said they were afraid to ask her to cut them some ham which also looked pretty dried up because they didn't want to put up with her attitude. I gave this a three star because everyone else I interacted with at the restaurant was pretty nice and the food was edible but if I was going solely off of her and her behavior, I would not recommend anyone going there to eat if you want to have a pleasant experience read more

This was my first (and probably last) time at this establishment. Im not usually a buffet person but I was willing to try as I was meeting up with a friend. The location itself was homey in appearance at first but as we were seated, in one of the back rooms, it started to look a bit dingy, the carpet and chairs were old and sticky for some reason, and it smelled like chlorine and mustiness. The waiter was definitely trying to make sure we didn't need anything but he came back every 3-5 minutes which was a bit annoying after a while. I liked that he made sure to be around, but it was a bit much. Finally, the food...it was very average. Nothing was labeled and many of the foods I picked (fries, beef, broccoli) were cold and relatively flavorless or overly salty. I couldn't even finish the plate because I was so disappointed in the food and the smell which made me a bit nauseous. I came here for brunch on a Sunday. It was amazing. The breakfast food was good and we made it right when they switched over to dinner, so two different type of foods for one price. We weren't sure what we wanted to eat so we decided to give this buffet a try. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and taken to a booth. The inside is set up like most buffet places. Plenty of seating and lots of food to choose from. I will say that I was very impressed with the food selections. Some of the vegetables and desserts were not the greatest tasting but overall I was pleased with what they had to offer. The best part of our experience was the service. Our waiter was phenomenal. He was constantly checking on us and we greatly appreciate that. The prices for lunch/ dinner on the weekend are around $17 a person. Pretty good value for the amount of food options in my opinion. This place was horrible the bathrooms were horrendous mold around the pipes pulse the wet sticky floor that anytime you would take a step it sounded like you were walking on bubble gum that's been stuck to a wall for over a century. The seating was horrible when they gave us our table it wasn't even cleaned correctly because you could see the previous cup marks from the people that sat there before us and the table was sticky in some areas and some of the tables were even broken and chairs wobbly. Felt like our server didn't even know where she was we were wait for utensils for like 20-30 minutes and anytime we'd ask her she'd walk away like she was going to go get them and would forget about it come back to us and we would have to ask her again. It was only a few employees actually doing there job I walked into the bathroom to find one of the employees slacking in there and as soon as I walked in she immediately exited which was really weird..When we finally got the utensils they gave them to us wet and they had water stains on them. Going into the buffet the stacks of plates were also wet and some weren't even cleaned properly I had to pick a plate from the middle of the stack because the top plate had something on it. THE FOOD!! The food was absolute dookie... nothing seasoned everything was watered down and looked absolutely sickening. As I was viewing my options I looked at the pasta and what they tried to call sauce was just tomato water... I tried eating the desert to try and get something out of the experience and the desert was just as disappointing as the food.. the only good thing in there was the soda.. When I go the a buffet I eat until I can't move I left that place just as hungry as I entered. Chef Ramsey wouldn't even give this place a 1. Steak old and dry, chicken cold, mashed potatoes instant, soup cold and salty. The height of dinner and only 8 people. No wonder. I returned all the food and refused to pay. Was taking a friend to the dentist in Fredericksburg and saw the Great American Buffet sign. We stopped for lunch and it was amazing, there was more food than you could imagine. Where to start . . . This is overall tragic food. I get that this is a buffet, and I was actually open to some TV dinner stuff, but everything was awful except the baked potato, but how can you get that wrong? I got ground beef for tacos that had way too much cumin. I got gummy steak. And the worst offense was the putrid peach cobbler. I mean it tasted like garbage. The price for a really substandard meal is probably the worst offense. They need to fire cooks and workers here. And now the food poisoning is setting in. We visited for lunch and were surprised to find this restaurant teeming with smiling and friendly employees and a competent waitstaff. The floors and tables were clean and all stations were rarely empty or half full at any given time. The food actually taste good although I mostly enjoyed the salad bar. I highly recommend. Tonight was my second time here and it's been a great experience both times. The employees have always been friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of food options and it's all included in the buffet price. They even offer complimentary baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. The only additional charge is if you want a beverage other than water. You can also purchase buffet food to go by the pound (although I have not done this). The food has always been fresh and delicious! The steak was very popular tonight and was being taken from the buffet as quickly as they could cook it. Some of the other popular items included fried and baked chicken, fish and shrimp, ribs, a salad bar, and the dessert bar. The dessert bar included at least 7 types of pie, strawberry shortcake, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, apple cobbler, cherry cobbler, bread pudding, and ice cream. I tried many of the dessert items and they were so good you wanted more. My favorite item tonight was the steak. It was cooked fresh and had a warm pink center. I would honestly not recommend coming here. I went here on a trip, and thought the place was nice, but it only got worse. The food overall looked ok, but some of my friends felt sick after eating it. The french fries in particular were pretty much globs of oil at this point! The Dessert was probably the best food option, but NOT the soft serve. They had cookies and cake which were great, but I was not impressed with the soft serve machine. A bug crawled across the machine, only for the server who was working there to sweep it away. Once the ice cream started to melt, you could find it very chunky with some sort of "oil" coating, meaning it was expired milk. The bathroom was HORRIBLE! It reeked, there were bugs everywhere, and one of the toilets was covered in green speckles. If you come here the safest options are any of the drinks, The mac'n cheese and the salad, and the cookies. Overall I do not recommend. P.S. This restaurant has for the most part pretty good food. They have gloves at the end of each side for you to put on before getting your food and you cannot reuse the gloves. The restaurant was clean and staff continuously keep it clean and nice. Servers were very nice and helpful as well. read more

This place didn't have too many good reviews so I don't know what we expected. But what we didn't expect was how DISGUSTING everything was. We also didn't expect to get food poisoning. The lettuce for the salad was off. It was bitter. The chicken for the salad was crunchier than the croutons. Everything was either extremely cold -despite sitting under heat lamps- or tasted extremely off. The banana pudding tasted like butter. Like just straight up butter. My boyfriend got the chocolate pudding and gave me a bite. It made my tongue tingle. Can anyone say GROSS?? Va is slowly open up places to eat dine in with new safety restrictions I wanted to say how much I applaud the safety precautions the Great America Buffet has put in place for it pattens. You can go eat at Great American they are open they have someone there to put your food on the plate for you. They still have the same good food and good service. Compared to Golden Corral, I give it a 3 stars. The fried chicken is good but one of the pieces I had was a tad too greasy. There were several types of each food in different formats, like corn on the cob versus cut corn and regular green beans versus giant flat looking green beans. Most of the food was tasty (lots of salt and butter). I tried the broccoli casserole and that was awful - think mushy broccoli. They had pizza in a weird place, in the dessert area. The good was that the fried shrimp were big pieces and I made some cheese fries from the fries and the cheese sauce next to the broccoli. The fries weren't crispy but they sure tasted good. The cheesy potatoes were good and so was the mac and cheese. The desserts didn't look as good. The boyfriend did like the chocolate chip cookies and said they were still slightly warm. I did really like the yeast roll and paired that with some soft serve and the filling from the coconut cream pie (didn't like the meringue on the pie). The ice cream toppings were lacking big time. I liked that Golden Corral had the hand dipped ice cream and chocolate fountain more. They had donuts here but I was too full to try one. read more

we recommend Fredericksburg Great American Buffet. On December 19, 2019 the manager told us that Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 the senior price is only $6.99 and the drink is included. If you wait till dinner the senior price is $10.99 and I believe the drink might be extra. The food is good enough to justify the dinner price; however, why not go in early and enjoy the senior price and still get the same yummy food. Maybe they have something extra for dinner but there was so much food we couldn't even try 1/4 of it. The selection is unbelievable. I believe there were four separate bars to choose from out in the middle of the restaurant plus two separate ones at the front of the restaurant with just about everything you could think of. I enjoyed the roasted vegetables and baked chicken and even found grilled chicken to be a choice also. There was also yummy fried chicken in addition to many other meat choices. My Indulgence was two pieces of BBQ ribs and some sweetened sweet potatoes or yams with marshmallows. Hubby loves to eat fish and said the fried fish was delicious! Our server. was kind and thoughtful!! I think her name was Em****?. when you first arrive at your table you are asked for your drink order and also would you like a baked potato or a sweet potato. I chose the baked potato and it was a very nice size. Fredericksburg is an hour from home and I hope I find reasons to be there more often Monday through Friday from 1 to 4.
