For 22 years now, I've brought a group of 8th graders from Washington State to the DC area for a history tour. Last year was the first time we ate at the Golden Corral in Fredericksburg. The food was spectacular and offered great choices for our kids, but the best part, by far, was the staff. We were fortunate to be able to work with the same staff last year and this year. Jowanda, the manager, is an absolute bundle of joy and energy, who made me and my students feel like family. Her care and attention to our needs was exemplary, but it's really the "above and beyond"-type stuff that made it so wonderful. She joked with me and the kids, and it honestly felt more like we were guests in her home than patrons in a restaurant. Her warm welcome was such that I talked about her all year, and eagerly awaited seeing her and her staff again. Another staff member, Derrick, was equally friendly and welcoming, and greeted me with a huge smile, and we took the time to replicate the selfie we took a year ago. I look forward to taking the same photo year after year, so long as Derrick is on the staff. Traveling with 8th graders is not an easy task, but the entire staff at Golden Corral in Fredericksburg made our first dinner in Virginia a memorable treat. read more

Second fav Golden Corral around. 4 stars because sometimes food can be a bit off taste or temperature but overall a solid choice for a reliable buffer for the family or a big group. In the past two years they've gone from a spot we planned to never visit again to a go to buffet choice. Not sure if management changed or what but the place is now always clean and generally food is on point as well. They are right off 95 so tour buses frequently stop in. They can be quite busy. Never had a problem with having to wait or not having food available though Thanks for improving and staying consistent folks! read more

One knows what to expect at a Golden Corral, and this was a good experience for what I thought it would be. Although I think it's odd the server gives out fresh plates instead of them being grab and go, our server was great with new plates and drink refills. The watermelon was fresh and juicy but took some time to refill. I got the fried chicken when it was put out and it was piping hot and crunchy. The steaks are cooked to order but are a little fatty. Can always get another piece. There were some good desserts that are mostly pie and soft serve. There's also an Icee machine. It's a reasonable price for everyone to quickly get what they want to eat. read more

While traveling this place was a toss up between Cracker Barrel. I haven't been to either in years due to the poor quality of the food and service. Well I was very surprised. The place was spotless and I mean clean. It was around 10-11 am and the food looked like they had just put it out. I can't begin to list everything they had for breakfast but everything, and I mean everything was fresh and good. I had the scrambled eggs, silver dollar sized pancakes, little sausage patties and cheese grits. They had regular grits too. I appreciated the small sized pancakes and patties. My wife and I stopped into Gooden Corral in Fredericksburg, Virginia, off Route 1. We had eaten there before and were hoping things might have improved since our last visit--but unfortunately, they hadn't. The food was bland, most of the fried items were burnt, the steaks were tough as nails, and the tables--and the overall establishment--were dirty, despite the presence of multiple servers. To make matters worse, there was some sort of congregational gathering in a back room. They were broadcasting preaching, clapping, and loud praise over a speaker system that echoed throughout the dining area. As an agnostic, I didn't particularly enjoy that during our meal. Prices have gone up, while both food quality and cleanliness have gone downhill. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. If I could give them less than one star, I would. read more

Food is amazing! The fried chicken was well cooked and never pink, not to mention the macaroni was creamy and warm. The service was excellent as we got extra plates instead of grabbing it ourselves! The food was okay. The best experience was the fried chicken liver-lightly breaded and cooked well. Also like the beef liver, tender and well marinated. I got my full iron quota for the day lol! The rest of the food was so so. I'm not very impressed with the overall food selection but I think it's more me than the restaurant. While on vacation, my family and I drop into Golden Corral Buffet for dinner. It's a relatively large buffet chain with the smaller obligatory islands: salad, soup, hot food and desserts. Ambience/decor: Atmosphere-wise, it's very similar to old country buffet. It is large, spacious and kept very clean. Food: They grill steaks and burgers right in front of you. I was shocked that they also had prime rib and butterfly shrimp. They had an astounding variety and we haven't even gotten to the desserts yet. TL/DR: I don't know how they stay in business. They provide astounding quality and value for such a low price. I wish I had a Golden Corral in NYC. read more

We we're very presently surprised! We very rarely do buffets but the family we were with wanted a lot of food for breakfast because we were going to be on the road for several hours and didn't want to stop for lunch so they picked Golden Corral for the breakfast. What a large selection, they had everything you could ever think of for breakfast and then some! So like I said we " pinged out" and it was all very delicious!! It was busy so the food was not sitting in the pans long and they were refilled immediately ! The bacon was crispy, the biscuits were hot , flaky and delicious with hot sausage gray on top! The omelets were awesome, made right in front of you! THe breakfast pizza was great. We have a new opinion of Golden Corral! read more

I ate some corn, bourbon chicken, raisins, crasins, fish, a deviled egg, and dessert. I woke up at 1:30 in the morning violently vomiting, this continued for every hour up until 7:30. Found out it was food poisoning. I vomited on my bed, all over the floor, everywhere. Do not come to this golden corral. WASH YOUR HANDS!! At least the waitress was nice. read more

Food tasted like the inside of a farm. Chicken was extra fatty. My daughter came back to table saying there was a snake in the bathroom. My friends and I went here to dine for the first night of our trip. My food was good, i had mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. For desert, I had a slushee and a cupcake. The only issue with the cupcake was the top was stale. My friend has a rather different experience. She had some chocolate strawberries, and there was plastic on one! The lady who came around getting our plates and drinks was very nice! The place was very packed, and there was long lines to get food, (especially dessert). read more

Has buffets go this chain has a great value with the selection and quality of the food. There was not a lot on the buffet line that I would say was poor quality. I enjoyed just about everything I put on my plate . Service was good everything was hot and not dried out. All the trays were full. They keep the bar clean. The attitude of Most of the staff was friendly and professional. People are people lol. I would come back here to this location in a heartbeat. I'll preface this by saying that I've never been to any other Golden Corral before, so I can't speak for how it compares to other locations. When you walk into this place, you wait in line (a looong line if it's busy), and then pay. After you pay you have to wait to be seated, however, they don't have a proper space for you to wait. It's hard to describe without pictures, but you either end up in the way of people behind you paying, or in the walkway where people are trying to walk around with their food. This probably isn't an issue on slower days, but standing there I did wish that they had at least a designated little spot out of the way for families to wait. We went on a Saturday evening at 4:30pm, and it was pretty busy, by 5:30pm it was packed. If you're sensitive to crowded restaurants, I do NOT recommend, at least not weekends at dinner time. The tables are pretty close together, so you're nicely packed in there. And people will bring their children, and most will be loud and they'll cut out in front of you when you're walking trying to balance your mountain of mashed potatoes and chicken wings...just me? I was okay with it, but I know some people want a quiet, calm meal. With all of that being said, I was surprised with how smoothly everything ran. We did have to wait for a table, but not for too long, and the waitress (Sheila? Might be spelt wrong...) that was serving drinks and clearing tables was busting her butt. She was not slacking, so tables didn't pile up with plates too bad in our section. I didn't see any food tray go empty, and the whole food area was pretty clean (definitely nothing gross, a couple misplaced things here and there). The food was buffet food, nothing gourmet, but I was pleased with the selection. I liked almost everything I tried (turkey was dry). They have a wide variety of meats, a salad bar, and a dessert bar (complete with someone spinning cotton candy and a chocolate fondue fountain). There was also soups, pizza, baked potatoes, a little taco bar, a small breakfast section with pancakes, and tons of other sides. I really liked the buffalo wings. All in all, I'd definitely come back here, but I'd try to avoid a terrible dinner rush. read more

The only reason I went to Golden Corral recently is because I had the grandkids and they all had different items they wanted for dinner. It has been many many years since I've been to a Golden Corral and after the first bite I realized why, the food is so bland. My favorite part was the salad bar with the many items, but everything else was not good at all. Even my 7-yr old granddaughter said the fried chicken needed some seasoning. My grandkids will determine if we go back, but without them, I know I will not be returning. read more

What happened to this place! I haven't been in a few years but it was alway good and fresh. Went today for lunch. Yuck. Cornbread wasn't cooked all the way through and all they had for it was nasty whipped margarine. The fried chicken was dried out and the salad dressing was watery and tasteless. What is sad is I went as they changed over for lunch so all the food was supposed to be fresh. There were a few good gems. The fried fish nuggets, fried okra was good. Food looked good but was very bland and tasteless. The two stars were for the place itself and the wait staff. The place was clean and inviting. The wait staff was awesome and really on their game. It's a shame the food is so bad so these ladies can't make more. They deserve it! read more

Good comfort food every time. My favs are the bourbon chicken and pot roast. I also enjoy the banana pudding and bread pudding along with soft serve ice cream. Easy going, decent customer service. We have visited this location several times as are frequently in the area. Our visit on December 19, 2023 was life changing and my husband and I have decided we will no longer patronize this restaurant. We arrived a little after 9am and the floors were filthy. I mean food was everywhere on the floor in the first section we chose. The server in that section said oh we had a party last night. Okaaay. So my husband asked for a manager. She was so nonchalant about getting us one and simply said the manager may be in the back somewhere in the back but they are wearing a blue shirt. We never found him or her so we went to another section. This section had food everywhere on the floor and even under the table. My husband stepped in something and was not happy. The food was cold and tasteless. We were so appalled and are considering calling the health department. Do they not have a cleanup crew so when new patrons come in the next day they are coming into a clean place to eat? What really troubled me as well was the disgusting ladies restroom. A large puddle of water was on the floor and it did not look clean. I will say the first person we saw when we walked in was very friendly and greeted and welcomed us with a smile. This was not a great experience and I wish I could get my money back! read more

I spent $40 for 2 ppl, disappointed, the entire restaurant smelt like a**, my plate had specs of something on it, the food looked nasty asf I only ate mashed potatoes and popcorn shrimp (I'm not a picky eater at all) we left within 20 minutes. This is the Disney of buffets. They literally have all types of food. My favorite part of the buffet is their extensive dessert options. From warm bread pudding to a chocolate fountain and an assortment of pies to hand dipped ice cream, they have something for everyone. For dinner, they have steaks grilled right in front of you. Overall, it's always a delicious visit. My only complaint (and can happen with any buffet) is that food sometimes sits for a while during slower periods so it can be dry or not as fresh as you would like. This does happen but they have so many other options, you can easily grab something else. I look forward to my next visit for some more delicious food! read more

Quite nice for a Golden Corral. This one is well lit, welcoming, clean and well laid out. Not really convenient from the interstate, but sure that has something to do with local zoning laws. Signage could be better. Prices a little higher than home, but still in line for a senior citizen. Food area was super clean, well stocked and ready for anyone's breakfast preference. Everything tasted fresh. Service was spot on....thank you Miss Kim (you reminded us of our favorite server, Merron, back in Olathe Kansas)! Great place! read more

This is our first visit to this particular Golden Corral and the food was up to the standard of the average Golden Corral. Most all of the food was hot and tasty though I did have to bring to their attention the wilted lettuce on the salad bar. Unfortunately, like many Golden Corral's, the clientele was the one really downside of our visit. Children were being allowed by their parents to play tag between crowded tables, and to help themselves to the food bar without their parents assistance. I saw one child, maybe 6 years old, come back to their table by themselves with a plate loaded with desserts and then start pouring sweetener on top of it. Finally one parent woke up, saw what their child was doing and took the ruined plate of food and set it aside for the waitress to discard. But then the child just got up and went back and got some more. Each time they came back to the table with a plate full of more food than any small child could ever have eaten. And both parents just let them do it. Of course nobody from the Golden Corral did everything either. I don't know what I would do if I were a Golden Corral manager but at some point I'd have to step in and enforce their rule of having a parent accompany a child to get their food. Unfortunately I've seen very similar incidents at other Golden Corrals and I always wonder what it is about those establishments that provoke that behavior. I'm sure I would be a more frequent Patron of the Golden Corral if it wasn't for that because they really do have good home cooked food and at a decent price. read more

Today was a mediocre two stars, my omelette was ok but the rest of the experience was not so good. We had to practically beg for a spoon, that is a common utensil for eating include it with the knife and fork. I don't understand you can grab a bowl but you have to wait for an already over worked server for a plate. If you are going to pull breakfast at 10:45 then make sure lunch is ready. The only reason I go is because my husband likes GC if it were up to me I would never be back. read more

Bourbon chicken is amazing!! Salad bar has all the fixings you could ask for. Breaded shrimp are really good and not greasy.

They are having an all you can eat prime rib special. I'd recommend sticking with the steak. The prime rib was rubbery had lots of gristle and tenderizer that made it salty. I tried it with their flame broiled steak which had flavor and alot less gristle. Otherwise expect average cafeteria / buffet quality food. There is a massive snowstorm (or at least there was this morning) in Fredericksburg. We were trying to get back home and ended up getting swamped by snow and traffic. So we stayed at a hotel, and tried to find a place to get food, right across from us was a Golden Corral! My family loves Golden Corral and were very sad when the gentlemen on the phone said they were not open. We were about to hang up and try to find somewhere new, when the man asked if we were at the hotel across the street. When we said we were staying at the hotel, he offered to warm up what we asked and we went to pick up the food, the food was very delicious, and the service was beyond expectations! read more

This was another not good experience, the food was aweful and they were serving rotten, smelly food on the buffet which was aweful. The ribs were horrible not cooked properly , the dessert was tragic as ... I didnt finish any of the 5-7 plates I got because time after time the quality of the stuff they were serving depreciated greatly , the waitress was good , she was the only good that came from the Golden Corral experience....sad read more
