we recommend Fredericksburg Great American Buffet. On December 19, 2019 the manager told us that Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 the senior price is only $6.99 and the drink is included. If you wait till dinner the senior price is $10.99 and I believe the drink might be extra. The food is good enough to justify the dinner price; however, why not go in early and enjoy the senior price and still get the same yummy food. Maybe they have something extra for dinner but there was so much food we couldn't even try 1/4 of it. The selection is unbelievable. I believe there were four separate bars to choose from out in the middle of the restaurant plus two separate ones at the front of the restaurant with just about everything you could think of. I enjoyed the roasted vegetables and baked chicken and even found grilled chicken to be a choice also. There was also yummy fried chicken in addition to many other meat choices. My Indulgence was two pieces of BBQ ribs and some sweetened sweet potatoes or yams with marshmallows. Hubby loves to eat fish and said the fried fish was delicious! Our server. was kind and thoughtful!! I think her name was Em****?. when you first arrive at your table you are asked for your drink order and also would you like a baked potato or a sweet potato. As you enter this establishment there's an unpleasant smell. You wonder what it is but shrug it off and continue to the hostess stand. The hostess seemed to be in pretty good spirits .. maybe a little too much since her eyes were up in the clouds. She took us to our table and the intense aroma started to fill my nostrils. And my god was it immense. ... Yes that's right .. the smell of wet molded sponge or rag or whatever they use. Like damn .. how old the rags gotta be for the whole corner to smell like that. Smh. Oh, Ryan's, why did you forsake me? The food isn't terrible (for the most part anyway), but it certainly leaves something to be desired. The only truly worthwhile food I had was the pot roast (surprisingly tender and flavorful), the salad bar (which is hard to fuck up anyway), the rolls with honey butter, the onion rings, and the sausage with onions and peppers. What really pissed me off, though, was that 5 minutes after being seated, no server had approached our table for drink orders. We had to flag down another server and ask what the hell the deal is, as every other table around us was being attended to. He admitted he had no idea where our server was (Deborah, I believe), but, busy as he was, he stepped up to the plate and took Deborah's place as our server and did a commendable job. Cheers. That's why he received a 30% tip. I'm not sure if there was a communication issue or what have you as far as who was to serve our table, but whatever happened needs to be addressed because we were becoming thoroughly pissed and contemplated just walking out. read more

Very average. I understand that COVID could be an issue regarding food quality. However, this was my first visit and much of the food was not very good. I liked any other buffet I've been to better. Great service! Bunch of staff standing around trying to find something to do. About the food, my advise would be to take your time and wait for the food that comes out hot because all my food was cold. Most of my selection were underseasoned. I did like the cold plates for my salad. Before heading out I checked out the desserts and I discovered pizza and cornbread I didn't try the small selection of desserts. All looks great, however, I bit into a green bean and something felt funny, so I stopped and and discovered a small piece of glass in my mouth...I called the waitress over and showed this to her, she promised to take care of it. Pros: prompt service, good selection, clean Cons: some of the food tastes off First visit to this place and the ambiance is very nice, very clean and everyone is smiling. There is a nice selection of foods but not as much as Golden Corral (price is a tad different) but the hot, dinner foods taste great and you're offered a potato (baked or sweet) at the beginning of the meal. I'm giving this restaurant 1 star because during my visit there were these little girls running around putting their hands all in the buffet food, throwing food at each other, and playing with the utensils....VERY UNSANITARY. I did make our waitress aware and I saw her talk to the manager about it as well as point the girls out to her. When I went to pay I asked the manager what did she do about the situation and she says "Oh. I wasn't able to pin point who they were" That was a big fat lie because as I said early in this review the waitress pointed the kids out to her. I will be contacting corporate office on Monday. I come here at least once a month with my boyfriend and children and we've rarely ever had any issues. The food is always fresh and my daughter and I love the ice cream. The servers are very friendly. I've only had an issue with one server who wasn't refilling our drinks or clearing the table. But other than that.. this is a great place! This is my third time here really enjoyed the breakfast. The weekends is the only time they have breakfast. Saturday morning the breakfast is 9am-11am and Sunday 9am-12am. Came here at about 7 PM on a Friday night. The food is decent if you keep in mind you're going to a buffet for the quantity and variety of food, not the quality. The staff were friendly and attentive. We were seated in the back room and there was an occasional gnat here and there but I can't speak for the tables that are in the open area by the food. The area they were most deficient in was the meat carving stations. There was simply no staff manning the carving stations so on the two occasions I went up to get some home and beef, I'd waited 5 minutes before I left to go back to my seat. Probably will not come back. I think you'd get better value for your money at the Hibachi Grill and Buffet across the street, particularly on the weekend when they're serving crab legs for dinner. read more

Food here is fantastic!! The reason for just 4 stars rather than 5 is due to our server. My experience in February 2019 regarding the servers was the opposite of a previous reviewer. Our server kept stopping by our table to chat. She was bubbly and friendly and we appreciated it at first, except that she returned multiple times in a period of perhaps 20 minutes. Did she not realize that she was interrupting our conversation? We were there just under an hour and the restaurant was NOT busy--there were still several empty tables, so it wasn't like we were taking up a table overly long. I am a slow eater and we probably would have stayed a little longer if not for the continual interruptions. A pleasant, friendly staff is important, but please don't overdue it. read more

As far as buffets with American food goes, this is the best I've had. Everything tastes fresh, frequent turn over time. I love the salad bar. The complimentary fresh baked potato or sweet potato is a good idea, as these items usually end up dried and inedible at most buffets. I love, love their fried chicken, pulled pork, and hush puppies just to name a few of my favorites. Their dessert bar is the perfect ending to the meal. The service is A-1.. This is my first time bake to this restaurant it's been about 20 years since I have been to a grate American stake and buffet back in manassas Virginia back in the 90's but there was some good food and bad food the stake wasn't too good nore was the chicken tenders from what my brother said. Other then that the green beans not to good I could tell the cheesecake was fake it did not tast like cheesecake at all and the ice cream was just cold milk not real ice cream . We had dinner here on a Sunday night at 6:15-7:25 I gave a 3 because the food was hot and fresh. While most dishes were bland, the buffet was well stocked and attended too. Our server was attentive and kept our drinks full and table tidy. I think her name was Kristy krissy or Kristen, I forgot to write it down. There was a serious fruit fly problem, several times flies flew into our faces and swarmed our plates. We changed tables and continue to have a problem and noticed other diners were also dealing with flies at their tables. The server apologized several times and said they were aware and were trying to deal with the issue. As a former food and beverage employee I am aware of what a burden a fruit fly infestation can be, I also know what it takes to solve it. As we left their were 3 employees and a manager standing at the podium near the entrance laughing while one was lifting her shirt and showing her back to the others. You would think that manager would use that man power to do what they could to combat the fruit fly issue, it was obvious that some cleaning at the tables on the dining room was needed. Will try one more time in a few weeks to see if cleanliness has improved and the fruit fly infestation has been dealt with. read more

Went to the Great American Buffet today for Thanksgiving. Arrived at 4:30 paid a got a seat. No one advised us that there was no turkey! I wanted to leave ASAP., my party wanted to stay.
