I wanted a custom cake for the same evening, and attempted to place an order online at 5:15. They close at 7, and require a two hour minimum for such things, so I thought I was out of luck. But I desperately wanted a cookie cake to make my son feel better about a bad day: so I decided to try calling the store directly before giving up. And I'm so glad I did because the kind woman who answered said she would actually be happy to make the cake for me and have it ready in half an hour! Hooray!She did exactly what I asked and it came out perfectly. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite understand her name on the phone, and she was gone for the day when I arrived, but I truly appreciate her help and the flexibility of the store overall. I didn't have any issues with the online ordering or the pickup which was today. Customer service was fine as well. Now for the birthday person who is a baker she said it was disgusting.... too much icing..... the icing was more bitter than normal. She didn't want any more of HER birthday cookie which she picked out so it's going to work with me. Maybe for kids but for adults I would just go for a tin of cookies..... better yet Mrs. Fields! I really didn't want to leave this review because I was trying to give them time to reach back out to me so I could get a refund, but it's been a month and a half and I have heard nothing. At the beginning of August I ordered a 16 inch cookie cake from here in person. I did not want to take any chances ordering online because I read some reviews about customers online orders getting "lost." The staff didn't really seem to know much about the products but they were nice and I could tell they were trying to help as much as they could. I went to pick it up the next day--the writing looked good but it was off centered and the cookie itself wasn't even cooked. I told the staff that it did not look cooked and they swore it was and said it was supposed to look like that. In the pictures you can clearly see how shiny it is and it felt like straight up cookie dough. I still want a refund. read more

5/9/21 This place isn't exactly the the friendly place I have been to. The staff member I met came of colder than the Lids employee I meet today. Nevertheless, I felt I need to try the blueberry cookies, the stuffed oreo cookies, and the oreo cookie cookies. I saw the sale for buy 5 cookies get one free. So I got 2 of each cookies I named. When the price came up, the cost was the price was $15.95. When I asked why the price was 15.95? I was told "The stuffed oreo isn't included in the cookie price." I asked the employees to put back the stuffed oreo cookies. She did not wish to do so and just charged me the price it should have been. I was told the stuffed oreo cookies are 3.xx a piece. The employee's mood seem to get even darker than it was. Something is going on in her life, because the body language showed and so did the audience in the store. Not sure how long this will last since most businesses on this specific corner come and go - it's always something new. The strawberry cheesecake cookie and the white macadamia chunk were good, but again very sweet. It would go well with vanilla ice cream to even out the taste. This store is actually in Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA. My whole family loves the Cookie Cakes at the Great American Cookie. They offer the best Cookies and Cookie Cakes hands down. The decorators also do a pretty nice job of wowing you with the art that they put on a cake with icing. I came to the mall to purchase a big cookie cake for my birthday. The girl was working on a cake in front of me, and was cutting off the edges and throwing away scrap pieces in the trash. I wanted to try a sample piece of the cookie to confirm if it actually tastes good, OR if it's just a gimmicky large cookie that tastes like crap. I asked if I could try a sample piece before buying to confirm the quality. She looked me straight in the face, collected a handful of cookie edge scraps, and threw them in the trash and said "NOPE." I guess that confirms the gimmicky big cookie tastes like crap. Put my money back in my pocket, and walked away. Overall, the employees are very rude. They don't wanna be bothered and they don't greet customers. I was with my girlfriend and her friend last week, they had the tray out for samples and when my girlfriend & I took a sample, one of the employees just snatched it away from us and put it behind the counter. If ya'll don't want people trying your samples then don't put samples out?!?! Samples are SAMPLES, their made for trying, don't be rude about it. read more

Custom ordered a cookie cake for a birthday celebration on Monday, got the confirmation email for Wednesday pick up. Tuesday night it snows. Wednesday at 5pm I go to pick up my cake since the mall was open and I received no communication that the store was closed or cake wasn't ready due to weather. Get to the mall, store is closed. Call the store and leave a voicemail, next day STILL no communication about my pre paid custom order. I call the store AGAIN. Employee tries to tell me the whole mall was closed so they couldn't get inside to get my contact info (I was physically inside the open mall and this order info is online??). She takes my info and says the manager will call me. Next day I get an email saying I got a refund and that the store could not reach some people (I received no call, voicemail, or email - how did they try to contact me??) and that if I "had called mall security I would've known they were closed." Terrible customer service. Yeah I" my money back but I didn't get a custom order cake for a birthday party and of course as I prepaid I had to track them down about info on my order the day of AND the day after! One month after this original post I received messages I'm guessing an employee (they said something along the lines of we were closed) "to let it go, get over it, it's been over a month." TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE with this location!!! I ordered a birthday cake online. I received an email confirming all the details of my order, to include the date & time of pickup. When I arrived at the scheduled date/time, the employees on duty professed complete ignorance of my order. I was finally able to speak with the manager on the phone (she was not at the store). Upon providing her the order number and confirmation details from the email sent to me BY HER COMPANY, she kept insisting that no such order existed! REALLY? If no such order exists, then why did your company charge my credit card $39.07, and send me a confirmatory email?!!!! Her solution was simply to offer to refund my money, with no willingness to explore any option for actually fulfilling the order her company agreed to fulfill. I found this company to be UNRELIABLE in order fulfillment and UNPROFESSIONAL in customer service. A poor showing indeed! read more
