Been to this location a few times already but yesterday was the only time we were told that only active duty gets military discount. I've recommended a few friends who were veterans, even their kids and they got military discounts also. Not sure what the company policy really is. But would be nice if it's consistent. Not only that but the lady who cut my hair seemed rushed to get to the next customer. There were 2 clients getting a haircut when I got there and they were still there when she got done with my haircut and I didn't like the haircut at all. You know it's not good if you can't even tell that you got one. This location is closer to the house but might consider going to another location in the future. read more

I go to this location to have Karina cut my hair. She is an incredible hairstylist who magically navigates around my ridiculous cowlicks, always leaving my hair looking its best. A bit surprised with the reviews, I've always found the stylists pleasant and with the exception of one they took their time with my cut. There are a several I am very pleased with but Shannon is one who comes to mind and they offered the military discount by noticing my credit card that was appreciated. I've been to this location twice to get a haircut ‍. Both times I was serviced by Irma, who has been here since it opened 3 years ago. I have thick hair and showed her a picture of what I wanted. I asked for 4 inches off, layers, wispy, framing my round face. Irma worked her magic , resulting in a haircut that I really loved . Thank you Irma! I learned that she used to own a Fantastic Sam's. She only spent 25 minutes on my cut , but she is a true professional and highly skilled in her craft. I recommend her highly. Ask for Irma if you want to have a great experience. We've all done it, been in between barbers and you say.... "how bad could it be" great clips.... well if you're okay with getting a SICK fade like this, that takes a real barber about an hour to get the lines out of then go here. They are really good at keeping you comfortable while you wait for 45 minutes to take a trip in a time machine back to the American civil war to experience a real good scalping. When they are finished they will ask you "is this how it is supposed to look?" Yes Linda this is EXACTLY how a fade I supposed to look. As if the customer should be an expert and the stylist should ask how a fade is supposed to look. Shawna. Had some serious covid locks after not having a proper cut in over a year. Went in on a Tuesday mid-morning to their Birch Rd location. You can use their app to check in, but there was no wait, so I was seated immediately by Shawna. $20 is the current cost for a haircut. I normally go to an old-school barber, so this was my first trip to a chain haircut store in years - couldn't have been happier with my experience. Shawna was very personable, but more importantly, she is good at what she does - I got exactly what I asked for. I just had one of the best haircut experiences of my life at this Great Clips location. Earlier this evening, I mistakenly went to the Gent's Corner nearby to get a quick trim, which turned into a quick disaster. In need of immediate help, I went to Great Clips and their general manager took me in right away. She showed me exactly how the last place went wrong, told me carefully what she was doing to remedy the situation, and even offered recommendations on how to manage my expectations when certain areas grow back. This place is ridiculous. Made an appointment and there was a 45 minute wait with 4 people ahead. The sign outside clearly states to wait outside or inside your car until your time. The lady asked if we were on the appointment list and we said yes. And the name was on there.Checked in every 10-15 min to see where we were In the queue. AT NO POINT we're we told that we were next or anything. Walked in one last time at 6:05, and the lady said they were closed, and we had left so the appointment didn't matter anymore. We told her that we were on the list though, and there was the 45 min wait time and there was still names on the list. She said we didn't check in within 20 minutes and it didn't matter because we left. And said well you can try again tomorrow. She then muttered something in Spanish which I didn't hear what she said. I wish I had caught the name of that employee because the level of customer service and professionalism by her was by far one of the worst. read more

Wow, they can't even follow up with their promises for a haircut they jacked up. Two weeks ago, I went in for my second visit to get my hair fixed after they buzzed my head due to a mistake the stylist cutting my hair did. They told me in two weeks time that the manager would be cutting my hair to help regrow it in a matter of time. I decided to make an appointment for her this week, and the manger was on vacation. I asked if anyone else would be willing to fix my hair and they hung up. It's settled, this barbershop/hair styling location is the worst. It's better to go to another Great Clips location, SuperCuts or any local barbershop here in San Diego County, or hell, get a haircut in TJ where they have EXPERIENCE and good prices on haircuts. read more

I've had haircuts for years and I have never left any salon with my hair sprayed-on wet and not blowed dry ever. How can a hairstylist let their customer left their salon as if she just finished a quick shower and just combed her hair? Normally when somebody leaves a salon, they feel prettier than when they just came in. The moment I left, the only thing I said was 'Great Clips' seems not Great at all. With this new location is located in the millennia subdivision in Chula Vista across the street from the Otay Ranch mall. I went to this place for the first time two weeks ago and got a great haircut from a very friendly stylist. The location was well lit and very clean. They are doing their very best to practice social distancing. Great haircut for a great price. Check in on the Great Clips app and you will not wait too long. I waited no more than five minutes. Yikes!! This place was... AWFUL!!! A nightmare to say the least. Why anyone would pay money to receive service like this? I do not know. Staff does not know what they are doing, even the manager in charge is insane. Since I arrived, the worker on duty seemed very annoyed and stressed out, and she was very rude, seeming to take it out on me. She had an attitude the whole time and was very insulting in regards to talking about my hair. She kept saying my hair was "stringy", damaged and extremely thin- mind you I am a young woman with healthy hair, not over processed or anything, only dyed my hair twice in the past :) I asked her for a simple trim all over my layers- just an inch or so to make it healthy- and she couldn't even do that. All the while, when new customers would come in while she was cutting my hair, she would mutter under her breath and complain.. great service lol. I had to wait over half an hour just to be seen, and she was rushing the whole time that she forgot to layer the other half of my hair.. And when I mentioned something about it she seemed extremely upset and asked what was wrong with it.. I mean I am no hair stylist, but I just wanted my hair to be even on both sides you know?? Anyways, I got home and when it dried I realized that it was very choppy and weird and not at all what I wanted. So I came back, she was gone but the manager was there, and let me tell you, she was WACK!!! Like she completely lost her marbles! I told her I was there earlier and just wanted my hair to be fixed, and she was claiming my haircut was fine- it was just my highlights that were making my haircut look uneven. Like excuse me, what?!! I am DECEASED y'all. Who says that?!! On top of that, she was saying if they were to cut it how I had originally asked for, my hair would look horrible and really thin.
