I have made the special trip to Naperville to buy bread at least 4 times now. These breads are made on site daily. Check the schedule or call ahead if you are looking for something specific. In the store they give out free samples of several breads and goodies. Breads taken home: Honey Whole Wheat Bread - Whole Wheat Flour, Water, Honey, Yeast, Salt, Eggs Hawaiian Sweet Bread - Summer only Easter Sweet Bread - Spring Only Dakota - the one w seeds Monkey Bread - never lasts long I usually freeze the bread and toast it for breakfast. You can request an extra bag/tie to avoid any freezer burn. The breads are more expensive but they are freshly made with fresh ingredients. A sign posted said they were expanding and opening a sandwich and soup section at this location. read more

Had such high hopes for this place! Was introduced to this franchise while on a trip to Fort Collins, CO. Bought the cheddar-garlic bread and a "powerbar-style" cookie bar. Both were amazing. HAD to find one of these stores close to home. Hooray! They have one in Naperville! Well: Naperville's cheddar bread was nothing like the to-die-for loaf I'd just eaten. It was supermarket ordinary -- at $7.50 a loaf, mind you! I mistakenly also purchased their "shortbread" cookies. Oh please: white tasteless dough balls. Ugh! The food was wonderful, almost too good. Workers are super friendly and helpful. The catch is that the owner is a bit rude. He treats his customers (us) and his employees poorly for what we can see. Moral of the story: food and employees are amazing, management is not the best. We came in and sampled the bread they offer everyday. And disappointing shelf products a number of them have corn syrup check ingredients before you buy. Coffee was great. Gluten free is tough if you are celiac bc it's still a facility where wheat is milled so it is airborne and cross contaminated if you are very sensitive but if not celiac it's not an issue. This could be a great spot for a great bakery. Just remove corn syrup, price breads competitively and offer more variety... I have to update this review because I gave it another shot and ... Bready good!! I don't know how else to put it. Samples galore with breads ranging from savory to sweet. And I love the staff! They were quick to ask me which bread I wanted to sample--I didn't even have to ask! I went with one of their most popular breads--Garlic Cheddar. It was $7 and worth every dollar. I also got their seasonal pumpkin chocolate chip bread ($7.50) which was also very good. And this is coming from someone who prefers savory over sweet anything. While this place may be a bit pricier than your local grocery store, I think it's worth it. Especially if you are a carb monger like I am and love love love yummy breads. Whenever I come into Great Harvest, I am there for one thing and one thing only: the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They always moist and are by far the best damn cookies around. They also have specials on Irish Soda bread, which is always really delicious. The staff is always very courteous and fun to chat with. You can really tell that they genuinely want people to try their products: they always have samples out and if you try it out, they can't wait to hear you opinions and suggestions! It's so nice to have a staff who really cares about what you think and who really try to to be responsive to their customers' needs. You should expect to pay a little more here for bread and pastries than you do at the grocery store, but the quality of their stuff is really great and I don't feel like it's too expensive of a leap. read more

Automatic second stop after Succulent Seafood, a couple doors down. I love the ingredients - so fresh. The asiago italian is lovely, also the tomato, the straight-up french/italian or whatever - all delish. My only minor complaint is the breads tend toward the soft side - I could do with more dense options. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies taste so wonderful and buttery. Let me start by saying that I love Great Harvest and I drive from Montgomery to the Naperville store and have been for years to purchase their goods. Today however I was parked in front of the store watching two ladies talk in the corner without masks on. This is a place that the bread company has set up for eating-standing room only. They had admittedly been there for 30 mins. This is a bread store, no indoor dining even according to their website and a sign posted on their door saying masks must be worn at all times. Yes they were a good 10 feet from the cashier but this is a bakery. Please leave the dining to the sidewalks in the summer if you want. There really isn't room or ventilation inside for it plus you make food for others to ingest. It's a pandemic and you lost a customer because of this move. Great Harvest opens early, tempts visitors with succulent scents and heady aromas. Did you know chicken and baking bread are the most comforting and beloved scents to western cultures? There's a conspiracy going on, I guarantee you, one you want to be in on. I can just bask in here while a line snakes forward, absorbing the contentment on the atmosphere. I've never ordered a bad product, in part because samples allow me to try many things and the standards for quality are just so high. I restraint myself from grazing and focus on one key goal: this loaf, that bag, that's it. Okay, maybe one hot crossed bun. Oh, who am I kidding, everything here is soft, chewy, and immensely flavourful. The demise of traditional bakeries around western Chicagoland has left a glaring hole in my life for freshly baked bread which Great Harvest amply fills. Staff are delightful people greeting the regulars and bantering with newcomers alike. They are actively involved in Naperville, coming out for all kinds of special events, sponsoring drives, encouraging students, engaging with families and seniors and everyone in between. I support businesses who care for and support the communities they are in. Great Harvest's employees generally seem happy and thrilled to work there, and that says a great deal. I am so happy to have this Great Harvest Bread Co. here in our neighborhood. The breads here are so amazing! It is so delicious, soft, and flavorful. They also have cookies that is so sweet, delicious, and it has a unique taste. Their breads here had quality ingredients, no preservatives, and so worth the prices. The aroma of their produce is spreading in the whole place. Which is so great and give a nice vibe to all of their customers. Their staff here is so nice, decent, and friendly. They are so accommodating. They also give reasons to all of their customers to come back. They are really great people! This Great Harvest Bread Co. is so huge, they have parking lot, they have clean restrooms, and their place is well-maintained. They are so easy to find and to go to. This place has a terrible business practice - it's illogical, tacky, and just plain cheap. Let me explain . . . Fall is upon us, and I have heard rave reviews about the pumpkin chocolate bread at this location. I love the idea of being able to sample a new-to-me product before I purchase, so I was excited to travel to their Naperville location and give this bread a whirl. When I got there, I asked for a sample of the pumpkin chocolate chip bread, and was told that they don't offer samples of that bread, because it is their most popular, and customers will come in just for a free piece, and then not buy anything. Therefore, they only offer the lesser popular breads for samples. In looking at these samples, they were hardly sustainable - really just a taste. "I drove specifically across two towns to have a bite of your pumpkin chocolate chip bread, was completely satisfied, and turned around and came home," said no one ever. To add insult to injury, I was told I could "buy" a sample of the chocolate chip bread if I wanted. Yes, that's right - I could purchase one slice of this bread, and then buy a whole loaf if I liked it. What if Sam's Club or Costco had this business model - "Only $2.49 to sample a Bagel Bite! If you like it, you can buy the whole box!" In reality, if I had been given the chance to sample the product and had surely loved it like everyone else does, I probably would have purchased multiple loaves - one for me, my mother-in-law, and the hostess of a party I'm attending. Plus, they would have gained a repeat customer for potentially years to come. Instead, I choose not to further support an organization who treats customers in such a degrading matter. read more

I'm in the middle I want to give it five stars because I just got their asiago bread and it taste delicious, but I just read the ingredient list and they use high fructose corn syrup it's so bad for you! at the prices this place charges you for a loaf you think they can use a more healthier natural form of sugar.. I love the Great Harvest Bread Company. They sell a wide variety of goods from baked breads of all types to whipped honey and butter of all flavors. It is a very small store, but as soon as you walk in you are greeted by a smiling face and offered samples of their items. Today, I was able to try their bruschetta, pomegranate whipped honey, and garlic-infused oil on three different types of bread! It was soooo good. My favorite is the cherry coconut whipped honey on their Irish Soda bread. The whipped honey comes from Colorado and it is unlike anything I've ever tasted. Aside from breads they have a number of pastries you can purchase over the counter. They also sell gift baskets with all different types of items, which are perfect for a Mother's day gifts (which is creeping up on us fast by the way....). They also have a coffee menu where you can pretty much get the same things you would find at a Starbucks, but for MUCH better prices. This store is wonderful. read more

I absolutely love this place. They have a wide selection of bread, plus cookies, muffins, and other goodies. It is always so difficult to choose. Fortunately they have plenty of samples to help out. This alone would make for a wonderful store, but it does not stop there. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They are patient and knowledgable and have never steered me wrong. One afternoon when I was stocking up on carbs, a high school aged kid came in and wanted to use the phone to call his mom for a ride. They have a Swiss Dill bread which I recently tried. I like dill bread but it is difficult to find. The dill bread at Great Harvest Bread Company was very doughy as if it was not baked long enough. It was pricey. Although I will pay for quality, I believe the price was out of line for the product. Unfortunately, I will not be a customer at their prices. If the dill bread is doughy, maybe the recipe should be amended to eliminate the Swiss cheese. This is the only bread I have ever had which did not absorb butter after being toasted. At any rate, I did not care for this bread and will not be a return customer. read more

Like others have said, this place truly has the best bread. My only experience with this place is through the Wheaton Farmer's Market, but their products are consistently delicious. I've fallen in love with the rustic tomato bread, garlic cheddar rolls, and oh my god, the Oregon Herb bread - I could eat loaves of that onion-y, dill-y, poppyseed-y goodness. The staff is always friendly and always willing to let you sample something before buying it. It's a bit more pricey that what you'd find at the grocery store, but in my opinion it's worth every penny. I can't want to try some of their other items that I've missed. read more

I can't believe this place is still here! I remember coming here with my mother when I was a little kid and being super excited every time we would go. But I had never really paid much attention to what was here until more recently. And it brought me back to the past! Once you enter the door, you are embraced with the fragrance of freshly baked bread (which is what they're known for) and they have so many different choices of bread to choose from. But don't worry, they will let you taste any of the flavor combinations. Also, make sure to grab their calendar, because they change (I assume still) the varieties of bread they offer monthly. But the staff is well knowledgable and very friendly. After bringing me back to happier times, it has hooked me in once again, and I will definitely make this a regular spot. read more
