I'm only giving this one star because I can't rate the food. We waited over 10 minutes for a table and were never greeted or seated. The wait staff ran around clearing tables all the while we were waiting, although there were plenty of empty tables to seat us at. We left without eating. Stopped in for lunch service was not all that great our waitress never refilled our drinks, or asked us if we wanted refills. food was nothing great i got a philly cheese steak no au ju comes with it very blan. We stopped overnight in Dundee on our trip home to Cincinnati. We selected this restaurant because it looked local and we love beer. Shelby was our server, she was a nice young lady. I was a bit disappointed when the first beer we selected was out. I was later more disappointed to hear her tell the table behind us the specials that were available. I happen to love blue gill and would have gotten that over the Betty's salad if I would have known that was available. On to the Betty's salad. Prewashed spinach and bac-os. That is about all I can say about a 9 dollar salad. The chili reminded me of Hormel from the can. I asked for cheese and onions. 50 cents a scant little sauce cup. My hubby got the ribs. They looked steamed or baked. Not much sauce on them and they were rather tasteless. The steamed veggies were lackluster. We stopped in this restaurant to avoid the chains and eat somewhere local. I think we would have done better with Applebees or Lone Star that are in the area. read more

Sorry to report the new building hasn't improved the food quality. Pork chops AND chicken breasts were over cooked till dry. Couldn't even chew the pork. "Sautéed" vegetables were only nuked. No butter even added. Someone needs to show the cook what sautéing is. Salad was half discolored stalks. Server could have, at least, caught that one. That was the third chance and strike for us...won't waste anymore money here. Too many other options around. read more

My brother and I have made GLEP a tradition for years on our annual Cabela's trips. We always looked forward to the fried fish and onion rings before exploring other menu options on our multi-day excursions. Today is the first day of this year's trip and we were disappointed to find GLEP is sacrificing quality while increasing prices. The hand battered onion rings were replaced with frozen a couple years ago but remained mid-grade and, when combined with the freshly battered fish, still made for an enjoyable meal. But today, we found the fish is now thin Pollock strip fillets (we think it used to be Cod loin?) that is dry with very little flavor. We've watched GLEP slide down far enough to start looking for other alternatives in the area. read more

Large open restaurant with a bar. I love the Chicken Chunks, everything else is ok. The prices are not inline with the size of the town and thus not a good value. I would go Chinese Sizzling, Bricktown or Rivers Edge, even Applebees before Great Lakes, and I eat lunch in town 3-5 days a week. read more

A few weeks ago I was excited to find my favorite fish was here, so I stopped in for the perch dinner. It was pretty disappointing, dry and possibly overcooked. It's easy to overcook, so I'll probably give them another chance, but for now I have found real good perch elsewhere in Dundee that I think I'll stick with for now. Greeter was great. Server was not. "Hi, do you know what you want to drink"? She didn't identify herself,(Stephanie), or the restaurant. No suggestion of available beverages or specials and no mention of an appetizer. No review of the menu or recommendation of an entree', signature or otherwise. Twice I made it clear, we were new, giving her opportunities to promote the somewhat new Eatery. When prompted, "It's Rib night and we sell a lot. Or these sandwiches", inwhich she took her finger and drew a circle around the items listed on the menu. Never upsold, never checked for satisfaction on our drinks or appetizer. Follow up on our entree' was,"How's it taste" as she flew by. Servers gathered at the drink station and flew to regulars at the bar tables. Dirty dishes were cleared slowly and atempted to remove a half filled plate, rather than offer a take home box. Drinks became empty before a refill was offered and the restaurant was slow. If deserts where available, we weren't asked., just handed a bill. The food was excellent, which would be the only reason to return. Being a first time customer, we expected an inter action with a manager. That was never witnessed with any patron. read more

I really hate to say it but, hit and miss on the food. The same dish, even salad !!!, can be very tasty and cooked good one visit but lacking flavor, ingredients, and overcooked the next. I like the new location much better because there is more seating available that isn't the tall high top tables. Service has been consistently good. The food and service were just above good. Prices (for above good bar food) were high but they did have a great beer selection. I was staying across the street so My wife and I partook in the Great Lakes experience and like described above, the entire experience was just above good. Waitress was great, and I was excited to see meatloaf on the menu, but it ended up looking and tasting strange. I would never go there again. And for people who say Dundee must not have good restaurants, check out Chinese Sizzling Restaurant in Cabelas area also, so supposedly near this restaurant. I just read the reviews on that one, and it sounds like THAT'S the place to go. Avoid this place, unless you just want to stop in for a few drinks. read more

Both the service and food were good, but I took a star off of my rating because (according to my husband) the men's room was disgusting.

They don't have many gluten free options aside from a salad, an app or two, or a $21 steak. I tried the salad and it was a bed of spinach with sprouts and bacon and a bite of egg. Not worth $10.00. My boyfriends burger wasn't good either (he rated it a 4/10). Service was good overall but based on the food, I won't be back. read more

Tried to bring a party of 9 and they said they couldn't push 2 tables together because they were the "party tables". Thought that was odd because there was only 4 table of people in the whole place. Over 50 table empty. They wanted to split our group up so we left... will never be back. read more

We visited last Saturday evening at 8:30pm and the place was practically empty and the weather was dry and warm - so it wasn't the weather keeping people away. The ambience was a sports bar but with a Great Lakes lodging and up north kind of feel. All of the tabletops were laminated with a Great Lakes lighthouse. Major Pros: Service was fine from the greeting to exiting the restaurant. Beer was served fast and cold. Major Cons: Menu spouts fresh-this and hand-breaded-that, the fish is from the lakes, etc. Well, I am going to disagree. They had at least 3 different kinds of fish on the menu and I needed to have any one of them without the breading and all the "stuff'" they put on it or cook with it. After the waitress checked with the kitchen, they could not comply!!?? She said it was all "prepared" in advance??? That it comes that way to the restaurant!? O.K. How about the chicken? I gave it a shot. The kitchen either washed off the coating or it was soaking in a marinade all day. There is no possibility to eat healthy here at all. I am sure all the fried food and burgers were good. NOT HAPPY and will NOT be back. read more

great server for such a large party of 16 people. however, they did not accept credit cards because their system was down. following this, my large party was told to leave the restaurant tonight in the middle of a large storm. we had five children with us under the age of 4. the kids were being kids. they were somewhat loud and wanted to watch the rain storm. they went and stood in a booth across the way to look out the window. with no warning, the bartender/possible manager came up to us and asked us if we paid our bill. we said yes and then she said "so are you going to leave soon?" and rudely said that our children had been so disruptive that people had left the restaurant/ received multiple complaints. she contributed to insult us by saying our kids were all over the place, that we were not handling the children appropriately, and that we were not allowed to be here anymore. we were all very confused as no one has told us that we needed to quiet down or not let the children move around within our little area. were not near other tables. there were maybe ten customers in the restaurant. we had a whole side of a restaurant to ourselves. the children were not bothering any customers standing in a few booths to look out windows, and a baby who can't even talk who screams every once in awhile. we understand kids can be loud but this situation was handled very inappropriately. you do not kick a large party out, who had given you pretty much all your restaurant sales for the night, without any warning. the bartender then continued to talk poorly about us to customers as we were leaving. make sure your managers are professional and speak kindly to paying customers. supposedly kid friendly restaurant, but don't visit if you have children. we will not be returning. read more
