I'm a buffet snob and a buffet whore. I love them and I will eat from cheap ones to fancy ones anywhere around the world. I've had buffets that cost 7.99 per person all you can eat and I've had buffets that cost $300 per person all you can eat. Please walk a mile in my shoes and trust me that the mile walk that I did to this place from my hotel was an absolute waste of time. This place only has a Dozen of items. It looks old and dirty, chairs are stacked up in the corner and signs everywhere that more items are coming. The food looks like it was made a week ago and taste even worse. AVOID. AVOID. Stopped in tonight. The buffet was not open "due to weather", but they were doing takeout and dine in. I actually preferred ordering food "fresh" from the kitchen instead of a buffet, so I was ok with dining in. The ice cubes in my water had impurities in them. The egg drop soup was so slimy and gross, it made me gag. The soup ran off my spoon like gloopy snot. The Mongolian beef combo plate was mostly vegetables and hardly any beef. The fried rice had no flavor. I thought the vegetable roll was going to be OK, but it was rubbery on the inside and quite difficult to chew, along with it having a weird flavor. The server was talking to somebody on an AirPod the entire time and only stopped by once to take our order and then a second time to take our payment. Ordered the chicken and broccoli with vegetable fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was good but definitely has NOTHING on my hometown egg roll. It was skinny and there wasn't much filling inside. The chicken and broccoli was ok. Mediocre at best. The rice tho.....it was undercooked and had some crunch to it. Rice SHOULD NOT BE CRUNCHY!!!!! I had hopes for this restaurant and ended up pretty disappointed. Firstly, our to-go order was wrong - it was missing an entire combo, additional egg rolls, and some of the dumplings - and we were simply offered a refund for the missing items. Then there is the quality of the food that we actually received. We got the dumplings, orange chicken and beef & broccoli. While the dumplings were described and pictured on their menu as typical potsticker-style dumplings, what we received actually had a different wrapper on the outside that was more like a breading, making them more like tiny empanadas. There were also only 7 included where it was noted 10-pieces on the menu, but that didn't bother us as we didn't feel like we got the type of food we ordered anyways. The remainder of the food was also lack-luster and overly greasy. My experience was about average. I ordered a beef lo mein eggroll and can of Coca-Cola for lunch. I received the beef lo mein and can of Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola was warm and the beef lo mein was delicious and packed jammed full in a quart container. This will be two meals. Update 11-20-20 I was scouting for pad ty and my usual spot was closed already so I gave great taste a shot at it. Stopped by Great Taste with a co-worker for lunch buffet. We were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken. They serve filtered water, which is what we both ordered. The buffet offers a decent selection, but some of the food was cold. Many of the items were around room temperature, which I believe is a food safety violation. Also, some of the food, such as the mushrooms and chicken dish were pretty bland, in addition to being cold. The green beans, however, were hot, crispy, and delicious as was the pepper chicken. On our way out, we paid and we were asked how the food was. My co-worker and I informed the worker that many of the dishes on the buffet were cold. She said she would check into the issue. We waited almost 40 minutes once arrived on top of the 20 since we placed the order. The food was not remarkable. Incredibly cold (which begs the question what it was doing for 40+ minutes), and lacked a lot of flavor. On top of this the food was basically mush and the texture was quite off. I would NOT recommend this place at all. Every restaurant and person has their bad days maybe we just simply caught them on an off night but this was a waste of both time and money. When I first moved here I was apprehensive about eating in a place with subpar reviews (I'm sort of a yelp snob), but one night my roommate and I decided why not and we were not disappointed! We always get General Tso's chicken, lo mein, and fried dumplings to go. All of the food is hot and fresh as they make it right after you place the order. The sauces are delicious, the veggies are fresh, and the flavors are on point! Not to mention the staff is all very kind. As a side note, my boyfriend and I wanted to try some other Chinese places and chose one with four stars and great reviews and it was greasy, not hot, and just not good. Ok we were craving Chinese food my husband's favorite is General Tso, he literally judges by that dish period. We ordered through Grubhub. Delivery faster than expect we were so excited. Opened it up and it was the wrong dish . The dish we got was either meat or pork not what he was craving. We called and after speaking to manager we decided to have them re deliver the General. So I got busy on my Kung pao chicken and it was delicious. Also ordered wonton soup for tomorrow but had to taste it tonight yummmmy. We were told the General tso would take and hour, in less than 30 the General Tso's was here. I think we have a new place to order from. Food was really good. It's a typical Chinese joint, the food isn't highest of quality but it's affordable and settles the craving. I always go for the lunch specials: Chicken and broccoli, or general tso's with lo mein, but they do servce dishes such as Pad Thai as well. It does what it's supposed to do. I've ordered food from here a few times, can't really complain about it. Sometimes it's a little bland. It's not the best Chinese food I've had but not the worst either. The location is within a convenient walking distance, so that is why I come back when I'm randomly craving Chinese food. Prices and portion sizes are reasonable. Service is okay, and I've never had an issue. Flavor is just OK, could be better and could be worse but it does the job.
