Based on the price and their availability, I decided to go with Great Wall Moving to help with my cross-country move. I rented 3 Pods storage containers, which were right outside my front door. I already had my boxes packed and just needed the movers to help move those and the furniture into the storage containers. The movers arrived about 30 min early, which was a bit of a surprise. So I had to end my workday early so they could get started loading the items. I gave them instructions on what needed to go into the Pods, and how they need to be loaded (weight evenly distributed through the containers, and items packed tight with no gaps to prevent them from shifting around while in transit). The guys got started right away packing up the boxes into the containers first. But after a while I noticed that they hadn't even started on the furniture, plus there were lots of gaps and spaces. So many of the boxes had to come back out of the Pods and get reloaded later. The good: the guys worked hard up until the end and they took care wrapping furniture and delicate items The not so good: there was a clear language barrier. Only one of the movers spoke English, but really not sure he understood what I was saying. This also seemed to be first time they were packing up storage pods. They stacked heavy items up high, and left way too many gaps which can allow items to shift around and get damaged while in transit. After the movers left, I ended up having to repack the front of each of the Pods in order to fill up as many of the gaps as tight as possible. Upon arrival at the destination and unpacking the Pods, I was relieved to discover that only one item was broken in transit (the brackets on the dresser mirror). While their hourly rate was the lowest of any of the quotes I got, due to being inefficient and having to redo packing I should have gone with someone else for my move. read more

Many other companies were not available on the day we needed, but thankfully Great Wall Moving had an opening. They were punctual, reliable, and efficient. Great team. They were super helpful and friendly. Only reason its not a 5 is that we sent picture ahead of time to get estimate. They suggested 2 but we went with 3 people. When they got there they said it had to be 6 people at minimum so we had to rush call in another team which doubled the price. I had a really long part of a sectional that wouldn't fit up my stairs in my new apartment. I reached out to Great Wall Moving and they came out the next day to give me an estimate for hoisting it up through a 2nd floor window. Today they showed up on time and ready to work. 4 people total were able to lift my sectional 15ft in the air to reach the window and got it inside. I was little nervous about moving during pandemic, but the team showed on time with face mask and gloves on, that made me less concerned. Although they don't speak English that well, but that does not effect their professionalism, efficiency, and friendly. I used Great Wall Moving this weekend and my experience was great. I moved a 2 bedroom townhouse to a 2 bedroom house. I found them through a Yelp search and's picked them out of 8 others mainly because of the lower price. Communication scheduling was quick and direct. I was a little worried after reading some of the bad reviews but we always have 95% of our stuff sealed in boxes and ready to move when they arrive. I was also worried that the movers wouldn't be able to speak English well but one guy spoke well and the other spoke broken English but was still able to communicate well enough. They worked seemingly the whole time with no breaks and got everything packed/ unpacked in 3.5 hours. One thing to note is we had them only bring in 1/4 of our stuff, mainly furniture. Most of the boxes we had them put in the garage to save time. They worked hard, were decently careful, and communicated well. I tipped them well (I think), over the $10/ hr per person suggestion, and even had to give there truck a Jump start. I would absolutely use them again! read more

Two guys helped us move out of our one bedroom to our new home about 10 minutes away. The process took about 4 hours and they were super efficient. They arrived exactly on time and got straight to work. They disassembled and reassembled the items that were too large and they even transported my flower beds which I really appreciated since many movers won't. I'd recommend having a few water bottles set aside for them as they're working, and proactively offer them a break if you notice them getting tired. They requested a 2 minute break at one point and we said of course and that they should take whatever time they needed. I'd highly recommend them considering how respectful of our items and how hardworking they were. I'd definitely use them again. read more

This is the second time we used The Great Wall Moving (the first time was in 2018). We are definitely satisfied with their moving service. The appointment scheduling was smooth. They arrived on time at 8:30am and finished moving in 5 hours. The driving between two places took 45 minutes, but they were working hard and very careful about protection and wrapping. One Shifu (we call them shifu in Chinese) is very responsible for fixing the water pipes and installed our own refrigerator at the destination since the old pipe connector did not work. Crazy Expensive move for a 3bd from sunnyvale to 20 min away, over $1.2k with tip. Requested extra tip for treadmill which took them a very long time to move and also with our help. Didn't completely reassemble it when they moved into our new place. They knicked up our doorframe pretty bad because they didn't want to unscrew our desks. Instead, they jammed it through and damaged the wood all around the door frame. Overpriced and a bit reckless, should've told us there would be extra charge for treadmill - they said our original tip offer was not high enough. read more

I think it depends on who you get for your move. Unfortunately the team I had were unprofessional and a little lazy. One of the mover didn't feel like wrapping some of the more delicate furniture and even ignored my request. I saw him dropped items on concrete floor while unloading. They didn't seem to care at all. Ended up with scratches, chipped furnitures, and scuff mark on walls. And still demanded a lot of tips. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more
