I can tell when he's serious or getting close to a purchase. He'll have an appointment. He has been loyal to CarMax since 2015. He loves that they do not hold you hostage while searching for financing. The space is lovely and open. There is water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and vending machine snacks. They also have a nice, clean bathroom. Frenchie came to grab us to keep us from waiting too long. A beautiful, older brown-skinned woman with a lot of patience and a good pair of walking shoes. She explained that she is retired and CarMax was effortless to her. We test drove three different cars; Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Infiniti QX60. My husband has to feel the car, literally there has to be a connection. I understand because a vehicle is a BIG purchase, so get what you want and be happy.

I was glad to as myself, sister and late Mother have all bought cars from CarMax (Oak Lawn location). We walk in and we were greeted in a friendly manner and were given Tyler to assist us. He was friendly, knowledgeable and answered whatever questions we had. My friend thought she was going to get either a Honda or a Nissan based off of preference. With inquiring and getting Tyler's advice, she started looking at Subaru's! Another friend of mine recently got a Subaru who is pleased with hers along with one of the other associates there telling us how happy he has been with his Subaru purchase. This purchase took a matter of days because she had a car transported from another location so had to wait for that one to come in. She was also trading in a vehicle along with going through her credit union. The whole time Tyler was great and we were really glad to work with him. I hate I even had to go back there after my absolute regretful purchase of this car in the first place. The first second I am able to trade this car in I'll be done with KIA and NISSAN of Matteson for good. We've spent hundreds of thousands on 4 vehicles between both of them. It still couldn't pass emissions... Keep saying don't worry I'll take care of it. Each time it was $300, $260, 250... And then 240 but the last time I only paid him the 200 because he asked for it up front... For parts and said he would have it done in one day, a Sunday.... 10 days later I found my vehicle with the door wide open at 10p.. Key in the ignition, and turned... Windows down and Rained in! All along he made my van worse saying he fixed things including brakes but instead he just made things worse and he was driving my van around town it was not drivable when he was done and had to be towed to a legitimate shop owned by a knowledgable and honest mechanic! Garry Rivera acknowledges he was wrong and owes me money but every weeks promises to pay but never does! He makes his money but doing shotty work for someone buying cars at auctions and then resells them! Heaven help anyone who comes into contact with the cars he is putting out on the road! This is a last resort ... This man has children that go to high school with mine. Shame on you Garry!

When we told them we were standing in front of it, they said it was for sale and was going to the auction. This was late October. It is now January and the jeep is still on their lot. If the alignment is off, you can't tell, if the cruise control doesn't work, the brakes are spongy, the idle falters, you won't know until after the purchase. The employee said it is a newer car and not like a built camaro. Obviously he doesn't know they are still producing camaros and 2002 is not a newer car. I don't trust a place that wants you to spends tens of thousands of dollars on a vehicle but won't let you test drive it. What are they hiding I wonder.

I feel like Montway was a bit deceptive in the quote however. The initial quote was raised because the car was "modified", but in reality it had been stretched 1.5 ft in the front. This was not an issue for the transport, as the driver had a trailer that hauled 2-3 vehicles. Montway rep said on the phone that $200-$300 would be charged to my credit card and the rest would go to the driver, and I received an email stating that $1370 would be owed to the driver on delivery. In reality, Montway charged my card $499, and sent another email stating to only pay the driver $1,100, which I did, but it felt deceptive. I am guessing that Montway got a way better deal from the driver than they anticipated, and instead of passing some of that saving on to me, or explaining, they just charged my card double what the rep said they would and kept all of the profit. Also, the rep promised tracking, which never happened - we had to call the driver a couple of times to find out the delivery time, because he hit traffic (which I understand he cannot control) and got held up by a couple of hours. All in all, it is done, but Montway didn't leave the best impression overall as a transport broker. Grateful I had a better driver than some of these other reviews...
