The Greek lady is definitely a place to try if you're in Philadelphia! We ordered in DoorDash and the food was delivered still hot! I didn't get pics as they started eating too quick. I had the gyro and it was HUGE! The lamb was seasoned perfectly the bread was tasty and the prices are reasonable!

Amazing service and food today. I had a Greek omelette and Greek salad. The food was fresh and delicious.

Greek lady has mediocre greek food but very good breakfast. Their home fries are phenomenal, the breakfast sandwiches are huge, and you can't go wrong with one of the omelettes. Their vegetarian gyro is filled with vegetables and French fries which is a little weird, but the rest of their Greek food is okay. There's some seating inside but it can get busy on weekend evenings. We've also done breakfast catering from here for group brunch events, and again, the platter of homefries is always a big hit.

Gyros always smack (I get mine without fries in the gyro) Eat in or take out, both quick service.

Not sure why this restaurant has such low ratings. It is the perfect no frills lunch spot with affordable food for great value! I have only gotten the house/lamb gyros. The meat is always tender and well seasoned. They put fries in the sandwich (personally, I take them out to munch on) and layered on top is salad with lettuce, tomatos, and onions. It's the perfect combination. Service is quick! Simple restaurant, no frills, local spot.

The service was great today for lunch! We ordered the lamb gyro platters with Greek salad and bakalava for dessert. It was good to watch as they were cutting the meat from the Shawarma and building the sandwiches. The homemade peach ice tea was a refreshing touch as well.

    Chicken Finger Hoagie

I saw the Greek Lady on JL Jupiter's YouTube channel. I'm trying not to eat as much processed meat these days, so their chicken finger hoagie sounded like a great option. I ordered the chicken finger hoagie, along with a couple of desserts for delivery. My delivery came promply and the chicken finger hoagie did not disappoint. The worst thing I could say was that it was too large to eat in one meal, and doesn't retain it's flavor the next day the same way a traditional lunchmeat hoagie would. But it a delicious hoagie, full of chopped up pieces of perfectly fried chicken. I really wanted to devour the entire thing in one meal, but just couldn't do it. My desserts were a slice of carrot cake and red velvet cake. The red velvet cake was disappointing. I would not order that again. The carrot cake was outstanding. I'm not a big fan of the nuts, so the cake could have been perfect without buts. But even with the nuts it's one of the top carrot cakes I've ever tasted. Next time I'm in West Philly I will try to make time to stop in to the Greek Lady to sample more of the menu.

The Greek Lady is an excellent place! We went here twice on our long weekend in Philly. The food is fresh and delicious, the portion sizes are generous, and all for a decent cost. Our party ordered the lamb gyro, the chicken gyro the veggie hoagie (large and generous) and the Greek Lady salad. Everything was delicious. The gyros were fresh and generous, the salads were gigantic (we needed to-go boxes for those). The staff are excellent, courteous and very customer-oriented. We had a party of 10 and grabbed a table right outside, and it was delightful. The woman working (who we learned is from Albania) was so kind and thoughtful and we had a good time chatting with her--but didn't get her name. Very near to Penn's campus and on a Saturday afternoon we were even able to park on the street right in front. You can't go wrong with a stop here!

Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Flavor wise, it was smokey and the pomegranate added a nice pop of acidity and freshness. The olive oil drizzled on top was also very good. The pita was fresh and warm and had pieces that were a little more charred which was great. Cauliflower sandwich- it is more of a wrap vs traditional sandwich. I liked how thin the wrap was. The cauliflower was very seasoned and cumin-y. I wish there was more pickled cabbage. The fries were thicker but it wasn't dry inside. They were also doused in zaatar seasoning and fantastic. Would get just the fries as a side or the whole thing again! Lahm bi-ajeen man'oushe- like a very flat, crispy pita with meat and tomato and pickles on top. There are some stellar, multidimensional reviews of Zahav on this site - for example, Bunker B's…read moremagnificent contribution.. I urge you to read that for an comprehensive, informed description of Zahav's place in the culinary scene. Here I offer a more quotidian review, with the emphasis on practical tips. I am going to cut to the chase: the pomegranate lamb shoulder is the stuff dreams are made of. Tender and tart. Accompanied by sides that are a work of art in themselves: fluffy Persian rice with a perfect crust. Greens with the right amount of sweet and sour to balance the other two components. The composed dish beautifully thought out and executed. And a little extra pickle just in case. Zahav has commissioned a red wine specifically to accompany the lamb, so be sure to order the Galia Dabouki if you get the lamb. Now for some practical suggestions: unless you have a hearty appetite, do not attempt the four-course menu. You will fill yourself on hummus, salads and dips and mezze, and by the time you get to the star of the show - the pomegranate lamb shoulder - you will barely have room for more than a few bites. I suggest you go a la carte, and pick wisely from the first two courses. I am even going to be heretical and suggest you skip the hummus. Yes, I know Zahav's hummus is famous. Maybe you can pick some up at Whole Foods to eat at a different time. Even the salatim - as masterful as they are - have by now been reproduced at other Israeli restaurants that have caught up to Zahav's Israeli avant garde. So if you ask me: pick from the mezze list and go on to the lamb. And about getting reservations: if you are a planner, go ahead and snag a reservation by going online exactly four weeks in advance as the website explains. But if you want to be more spontaneous, you can get a seat at the bar as a walk-in. You do need to arrive early for that. The day we were there - a weeknight in July - the line started to form a little before 5pm, that is, a little before the restaurant's opening time. Everyone in the line at that time got to be seated, and there were still plenty of spots that only gradually filled up. No doubt on the weekend you would need to get in line a bit earlier, but it is entirely possible to do this without an advance reservation. So now I am looking forward to taking my own advice. I am plotting my return, and going in for the star of the show, the hell with opening acts.

The chicken was the biggest letdown of the night it was tender but lacked flavor. The beef kebab, on the other hand, was juicy, well-seasoned, and easily the better choice. Oddly enough, the French fries ended up being the best thing we ate all night. They were perfectly crispy and honestly some of the best fries I've had in Philly. Dessert was another disappointment. For a restaurant at this price point, having only two soft-serve ice cream desserts felt lazy and like an afterthought. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but nothing besides the fries and beef kebab really stood out or made me want to come back. The dessert was made special, however, complete with a "Happy Birthday" design on the plate and a sparkler for my dad. The service was once again excellent. Our waitress was very attentive, upbeat, and helpful. Lastly, having come in the winter last time the restaurant was busy, but slightly more toned down. On this summer Saturday night the restaurant was very loud, which made it hard to hear conversation. This is a small thing, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for a more intimate dinner! We will definitely be back to Almyra again! I recommend giving Almyra a try and don't forget to order the Horta!
