For the most part the food was good. Served was nice and service was nice. They have 3 breakfast specials for about 9$ that are good. They have nice thick ham which is salted well. I wasn't a fan of the biscuits and gravy. I mean I liked the gravy and I liked the biscuits. But to me they didn't pair well together. The restaurant is older for sure and could use an update, but it was decently clean. Would definitely come for breakfast again and even try the soup. read more

First time at this restaurant where we we were there for breakfast. The Menu at Green Apple has what I would call an expanded offering of the basics you would expect to see for a typical breakfast menu in the area to include your typical eggs dishes, potatoes, meat, pancakes and omelette's. The two things that stood out for this business were the omelettes where there was a very wide selection of omelettes to choose from and the prices to include daily $6.99 breakfast specials that are amongst some of the cheapest I have seen in the area. The food we had which included a Western Omellette, eggs to order, pancakes, home made toast, hash browns and bacon sides were well made and tasty. Service was prompt and friendly with very good follow up. Lastly the price was very friendly to my wallet which is a very important aspect of dining out these days during these high inflationary times. Overall we were quite pleased with the meal experience at Green Apple and definitely will be adding this business to the short list of breakfast joints I frequent in the area. If you are in the area and are looking for well made breakfast at a value proposition that does not break the bank than this business definately could be for you. Its sort of like when I drink wine, there are fine wines I drink on occasion due to price than their are the daily drinkers where I look for something that is both good and cheap. The restaurant on Cooley Lake Road was very disappointing. The floors were dirty, all of the menus looked as if a dog had chewed around the edges, tables and booths were in poor condition and the building inside and out was in need of painting and cleaning. The waitress though was very nice and attentive. My wife and I had an appointment nearby and were short of time otherwise we would have left. And even though the food was not great but acceptable, we will not go back. We are long time small business owners and we would be ashamed if our establishment looked like this. read more

I absolutely love coming here for breakfast, the portions are good, the food is what you'd expect for breakfast, and the staff is always friendly. The overall tone of the restaurant is friendly. It's diner style with lots of booths. I'm only giving three stars because the dinner my fiancé and I received wasn't very good and we paid $50... Nachos were not very flavorful and were soggy, vegetables I ordered were unseasoned green beans, and the garden burger I ordered was more like a bread pudding stuffed with steamed vegetables. If I could give 5 negative stars I would. I've lived in the area a long time, and this place has for some amazing unknown reason been around since I've lived here. The food is the absolute lowest quality, even lower than coney islands , clearly the person buying their inventory is a serious cheapskate. Whoever the cook is honestly needs to reassess their life. Very good value for the money. Family place with homemade food, even the mashed potatoes are homemade. A good variety of desserts are in a cooler. Even chocolate cake. I discovered this restaurant about two months ago. The food is good especially the salads. I ordered on different occasions the fish, dinner pork chop dinner, the meatloaf dinner twice and chicken dinner. The fish and chicken dinners were the best. The pork chop was good but a little dry however the meatloaf was good but burnt. The portions of the meatloaf that were not burnt had a very good taste to it however the burnt taste took away from the flavor. read more

The food was good, portions were more than adequate, but they were using a menu that was no longer accurate. I selected four different menu items from the Greek dishes before the waitress curtly said "these are the only items we have in that section of the menu." From that point on she was not attentive to our table and we needed to ask other waitresses for service. When she did come by to refill our beverages she put coke in my iced tea and iced tea in my friend's coke. It took awhile to get her attention to correct the drink problem. We finally had to ask another waitress to bring us a take out box for my friend's leftovers. We will go elsewhere after this. read more

I went for breakfast with my wife who is Hispanic and I am African American. I have NEVER been made to feel so unwelcomed in all my years at an establishment. The owner took a seat at the counter and was staring at me and my wife the entire time we were there. Others (3 couples) were seated after us and received there food before us. It took a long time to receive our food & when it came up we saw it & the waitress grab the food behind ours & served the couple behind us who sat 10-15 minutes after us first.. Then she eventually grabbed ours & served us.. It was Very obvious we were Not welcomed there. We did not finish our meals because of the atmosphere. Paid our bill, still left a tip for the squeaky voiced horrible waitress and departed. We will never venture to that establishment again and feel sorry for those of color that do! I've lived in the area for 25 years and finally decided to try this place after so many local reviews rated it high. Walking in the atmosphere was just old and dingy which given the age of this place made sense. Upon sitting down we had to ask our waitress to wipe the table again because the precious person missed the stuck on food in the middle of the table. Next came the water glass and the dried stuck on food crusties from the dishwasher. Next was the knife which I'm not even sure what was stuck on it but thankfully I didn't need it for my meal. Besides this place lacking detail around cleanliness the food was just ok. Nothing special. Hashbrowns tasted like something you pick up at the grocery store and cook yourself, orange juice was warm, and bacon over cooked. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

We went there after a movie at MJR because it was centrally located and we've always had a good experience at their other location at Walton and Dixie. When we got there, it was fairly empty, but that didn't really mean anything because it was still quite early. We looked at their specials and saw that they had some dinner specials that were 2 for $10! Gracie was our server and she was very friendly and accommodating. We all ordered one of the specials; I ordered the Country Fried Steak with salad, choice of potato (mashed), and country gravy (on the side). The difference between the regular and special is portion size, but even the special was an adequate amount of food! I wasn't stuffed, but I also wasn't still hungry! I live not even 3 minutes from this place and have popped in for a simple grilled chicken breast, or some chili here and there and have been pleased. However, today I had a much different encounter. I called and asked if the chicken parmigiana was good and was told yes, so I thought what the heck, let me try it out. I ordered carry-out as I live so close so it would be fresh and still hot right when I got home. I've had chicken parmigiana many times before from other places and it has always been the same (breaded chicken, marinara sauce, mozzarella, and side of pasta) of course with each restaurant having its own taste. But nonetheless, the recipe is still the same. When I got home and opened the box, all that was inside was a regular grilled chicken breast (that was chewy) and a side of dry noodles. No cheese, no bread crumbs, nothing...see pictures attached. Instead of getting upset I thought I'd give them a chance to make up for it. I called and politely informed the waitress of what was going on and what I received. She was nice and offered to get me something else since what I received was not chicken parm. I opted for a chicken quesadilla just to play it safe. I drove back up there under the impression that she was going to replace my meal with the new one (since that's what she stated and I paid over $16 for the chicken parm) and then she said "it's going to be $10.99"). She told me that she would get me something else because of the screw up, which I was ok with, but then charged me full price for the second meal! At that point I was disgusted and no longer hungry. However, I am not one who likes confrontation so I just decided to pay for the quesadilla and cut my loses. When I arrived home a few minutes later, I open my box and was absolutely shocked. The bottom of the box was entirely covered with grease and the quesadilla was so drenched it was soggy and not edible. Grease just dropped everywhere when picked up and the tortilla felt like wet bread when bitten into. I did not even call back at that point since I was so disappointed with everything. I understand things happen, but you don't offer to replace a meal (as she stated) and then charge when customer arrives. And beyond that, the second meal was beyond gross (see pictures attached). So after almost $30 on two meals, I just went to Kroger and cooked something myself. Don't waste your money or time here! Very disappointed! I've been in the industry for over 14 years. This restaurant was recommended to me for the breakfast and price. I have to agree the breakfast was very good. The price was $2.99 for 3 eggs, meat, toast, potatoes or grits. I had the ham and grits. Again, very good. My waitress was nice and attentive without camping; perfect. What I didn't like was the environment. The tables were old and sticky and the vinyl seat cushions were split open. Ever the cashier counter was sticky. The outside of the building looked like the business was closed. Yet they had managed to deliver to me some mediocre food I could have made with my microwave. There was no excitement or flavor to my food so it wasn't really worth the price. It's a dive, let's be real here. The food is pretty decent. The waitress we had didn't speak English well. When asked questions about certain foods, she answered the question, but also brought the food that was asked about without it being asked for.
