I am a really picky pizza lover and have searched for some time for the ultimate square pie. Buddy's, Sir Pizza and Jets all do a pretty good job, but Green Lantern is hands down the best square pizza I have ever had. I was pretty tentative about a pizza place named after a superhero (and I'm pro superheroes) but these guys know how to do it. Apparently fresh daily, or so they claim, but the pizza tastes like it so I have no reason to doubt. My experience here is limited...I have never eaten there (only delivery) and have only had the square pizza, but... If you love square pizzas, definitely give them a try read more

This is strictly a carry out or delivery place. The actual lounge is over on John R. The delivery is always quick & I've never had any problems with my order. Good pizza. If you get deep dish, it's a very thick crust. The normal round pizza is perfect. One of the best pepperonis in the area. You know it's good when the edges curl up & grease pools up in it. The antipasto salad is good with one the most garlic heavy Italian dressings I've ever had. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the Lantern bread. PLEASE READ!!!!!!! I thought long and hard about posting this but I felt I had to share a situation that happened to me last week at Green Lantern Pizza in Royal Oak Michigan. I felt completely humiliated and had really never experience such open and blatant disrespect and discrimination. Further more the company made illegitimate reasons as to why this situation took place. " the guy you are talking about ma'am could never be racist his best friend is black." I am still completely dismayed and still deeply bothered by this experience. Below is the comment I left on their page. I just left your Royal Oak location without my pizza and very dissatisfied with the customer service or lack there of. I placed an online order around 1330. Approximately 20 min later I walk in to the Royal Oak store and no one is at the front counter. There is a bell when you walk in that I assume is to let employees know when a customer enters if everyone is in back in the kitchen. Although no one was at the counter 2 employees that were making the pizza's saw me walk in and just stared at me. They didn't say hello or that someone would be with me shortly. They literally just stared. I was so confused so I stood there for approximately 1 min. After still not being greeted i sat down on the bench in the pick up area, again minutes continuing to pass without being greeted. Several moments later a white man and his son walked in the door. One of the gentleman who was making the pizza (one of the guys that just stared at me when I walked in) immediately stopped what he was doing walked from the back and greeted the man and helped him with his order. Again never saying hello to me literally acting like I wasn't there. I then told the employee that I was confused as to why he greeted the man that walked in so promptly while I still hadn't been greeted. He said that he thought I had been helped which obviously was a lie because he saw me walk in the door and never saw me talking to anyone. These are horrible business practices and the optics are not too great with this situation. I will never spend a single cent of my hard earned money with a company that treats certain patrons this way. Shame on you Green Lantern. How do the optics appear to you? read more

I have been meaning to try green lantern after seeing a few fellow yelp friends check in and after reading their reviews I bookmarked this spot. I do love good pizza and the pictures were very tantalizing. I was instantly pizzastruck when I saw their pepperoni's baked to this crispy outer ringness, you'll understand if you see the picture of pepp pizza. Anyway, got a large pepp and some lantern wings. I fail to see what is so special about this pizza or maybe I raise my expectation bar so so so high thinking the first bite was going to be some kind of mind blowing experience that it fell short and I gave up on green lantern. Either way my son wAs pretty excited about the name thinking it had some type of relation to legit green lantern. The super baked pepps aren't that good but I did like the crust. However I didn't like the worker's attitude he seemed very antisocial and my bubbly personality seemed to just annoy him to his core rotfl. I must admit that I was very disappointed when I attempted to order a pizza at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I was given the option of pick-up or delivery and when I said pick-up I was told that was not an option at that time. If pick-up is not an option then why make the initial offer, why not state that delivery is the only option? Do you keep the front door locked until evening? MOST OVERRATED PIZZA IN DETROIT & THEY EVEN SCREWED UP MY UNDER-COOKED REPLACEMENT PIZZA!!! Don't waste your time and money. Jett's in Birmingham is 10x better. I tried this place for the 1st time. Ordered via phone for carryout. Had the girl repeat back to me what my order was since each half had 2 different items. Was told after I arrived (on time) that the order would be another few minutes. Five minutes later, the manager comes out to tell me that they had lost my order and never made my pizza! No offer to discount my pizza - only a $5 off coupon for next order and it would be another 12 minutes. Normally, the wait wouldn't be a problem, but this time I had people who needed to eat before leaving for an event and my schedule was now being made dangerously tight. So, I finally get my pizza and when I get home, not only is it majorly UNDER-COOKED, but it was the wrong friggin' pizza!!! The toppings were less of a problem than it being undercooked. It wasn't even edible. We threw it out and hit the Little Caesar's drive-thru, for not so good pizza, but at least that was cooked! I called them and insisted that they remove the charges from my credit card. The manager grilled me on how I ordered as if I had screwed up (I informed him that I made the girl repeat the order - the same chick who immediately lost it, so, gee, who ya gonna believe??). He agreed to remove the charges and offered me free pizza in the future, but that is soooo not going to happen. I like my food cooked and the order correct. read more

After having a major pizza craving for a couple days, I decided to take a look around my new surroundings to try to find a less "commercial" pizza place,and I found Green Lantern. While it is off the beaten path a bit, it was still easy to find. I ordered a large square with bacon and feta, and I must say, I am impressed. The bacon, and pizza slices are ethick, and the feta is plentiful. And while this is no where near as good as Buddies, it is a solid second to the latter, and certainly better than anything in my immediate area. I will definitely be a customer for a while read more

I had their pizza for the first time last night. GOOD stuff not the cheapest but worth every cent. I was starting to think that the pizza is the same but wait, there is one great pizza in MI. But if they had one closer to my house that would be wonderful. The counter guy told me that Green Lantern is planning to open a couple new locations in Clinton Twp later this year! I have family on the east side and we can't wait! The Pepperoni is thick and meaty, so not the same old pre-cut package chain blah blah.....I'm not sure exactly what kind of cheese they are using but again it had a ton of flavor! One of the top pizza places around. Two locations - a bar in Madison Heights and take-out on Rochester Rd. I've never been to the bar, but always heard it was really smoking and well, bar like. I had high hopes for Green Lantern. The chicken wings were awful and the breadsticks were just the pizza dogh baked. The pizza tasted as if the crust was made of cardboard and the sauce was just disgusting as if it came straight from a can. i love green lantern. love the square, love the round, love the round deep dish. now i don't order the round deep dish often, but it is equally delicious if you're into round pizza. the service here is excellent, always a friendly person on the other end of the phone, and they always repeat the order to make sure they got it right! a bonus! their ranch is slightly addictive, i always order it on the side for their lantern bread and for their square pizza. something about it is just too delicious to describe in word form! the lantern bread is delicious as well, always cheesy with a nice amount of garlic flavor. the square is amazing just because there's alwaaaays the right amount of crispiness on the edges, you usually can't get that at jets. now if you ask me, nothing beats dining in at one of the other locations, because you get to experience the pizza RIGHT out of the oven! however, the carryout locations are just as great. i recommend reheating the square in the oven if you have leftovers :) read more

As a skeptic of any place that calls itself "The Best in Town" I have not given this place a chance. And I was dead wrong. This place is, in fact, the best pizza I've had around and I've lived in this area for a good portion of my life. Everything about the pizza hit the taste buds just right. Not many pizza places get the sauce right in my book, I don't know what Green Lantern does with their sauce, but I want to know the secret...it's just enough spice and flavor to compliment the fresh melty cheese on top. We showed up late one night after a rousing game of Laser tag, and we had worked up an appetite! Having heard the claims that this is the best pizza in town, we felt we ought, nay, that we had an obligation to check it out. The pizza itself was great. Not amazing, mind you, but great. We had a BBQ chicken pizza (pretty standard in quality), and one with a few chosen meat options which was nice. The food was good quality, fresh and it arrived hot to our tables. We had no problems with seating or the wait on the food, because we arrived at 11pm on a Thursday. We did have a slight wait on ordering because we lost our server for a while, but other than that I was happy. The staff did make one pizza complimentary when they accidentally put wrong ingredients on another pizza, which was nice. However, if you go to their website and see the coupons, be sure to print them out if you want to use them. The manager did accept our iPhone visual as proof that we knew of the coupons, but he said he would not do that again. So you may have to kill a tree to save some dough. read more

Good quality ingredients (mozzarella & pepperoni specifically) that you don't get at the big chains anymore - and at a very reasonable price. Green Lantern won me over when we moved to Royal Oak and they sent a coupon in the mail for a free pizza. A month later, they sent the same coupon again. We've never been to their location, but get deliveries about once per month now. Their service has always been exceptional and deliveries fast. We get a plain square cheese pizza when we order. I used to have an addiction to Papa Romano's plain square cheese, but I gave that up because they're jerks. After two years as a Green Lantern customer, I cannot fathom a more perfectly crispy crust and melted cheese. I just tried a pizza from Uncle Andy's this evening, and I'm so saddened by that experience that this shout-out to Green Lantern should hopefully serve as penance. read more
