The shrimp tempura roll was literally just shrimp tempura wrapped in rice and seaweed with some eel sauce. The mango shrimp tempura was the same thing but with mango on top. The sweet potato roll was exactly as I expected though. I was kinda disappointed after reading the reviews! I wouldn't go back for sushi... the calamari was yummy though!

I placed a catering/pickup order at 8:30 AM for my friend's birthday, with a scheduled pickup time of 12:30 PM. When I arrived to pick up the order, I was told that everything I had ordered was sold out. The frustrating part was that I was never notified ahead of time, so I had no opportunity to make another selection before arriving. Since my friend doesn't eat chicken, I had to find another seafood option on the spot. Once I found something that would work, I had to pay an additional $15 and then wait another 20 minutes for the new order. I normally go to the Locust Point location and have never really had issues there, so I don't want this experience to give the impression that I think Ekiben is bad overall. This was genuinely just one bad experience. The food itself is still AMAZING. I'm obsessed with the Tacklebox, the tempura broccoli is , and the chili noodles are an absolute SMASH. I'll definitely still be back because I genuinely love Ekiben -- I just hope there's better communication when an item from a scheduled order is no longer available.
