This place is truly a hidden gem. Its located in a strip mall next to Giant. We were already in Hunt valley shopping and looked on Yelp for a place to get lunch. Green leaf had good reviews and after eating here I know why. I order two sushi rolls, the spicy tuna and the 8th year roll. Both were delicious. They had so many items to choose from on the menu it took some time make a decision. The staff was courteous and patient. Why are the best sushi restaurants located in shopping centers? Not only do they have the best rolls, you have to get the sea bass! Peggy, one of the owners, makes the fish to perfection. Get it with miso or plain, you get a great portion at a reasonable price. Their menu offers a variety of traditional Asian foods from different regions. Some of my favorites are the String bean pancake and the Sushi bar salad. From their Pad Thai to Drunken noodles, you will not be disappointed. Do not be surprised to have Charlie or Peggy visit your table to make sure everything is perfect. Make a reservation on weekends or do take out! There is absolutely no better sushi than Green leaf. Every time you walk into Green Leaf, you will be welcomed by the amazing staff who truly appreciate you being there. Green Leaf has the BEST sushi in the Baltimore area, hands down. The prices are a bit higher than other sushi joints around but you really do get what you pay for! I highly recommend the imperial crab roll and the baked scallop roll. Their other food options are great, also. I recommend the chicken udon noodles. It's A-OK for sushi in a strip mall, but not above average for anywhere else. Their sushi wasn't always properly rolled as I had quite a few pieces fall apart. Disappointed in their tamago sushi as it was so sweet and cold that it wasn't enjoyable. Service was fast and fairly pleasant, even when they accidentally spilled my water glass all over the table (dodged it with my lightning reflexes). My bill was a little high based on the quality, around $40 for just me, since I ordered a la carte. If you're eating here, you owe it to yourself to make a trip down to Bethesda for some of the best sushi on the east coast in that area. read more

I don't get this place...Chinese fried rice, Thai curry, and Japanese sushi? That's like saying you're an American/Canadian/Mexican restaurant. I've been here twice and find the sushi to be marginal. Severely lacking in taste. My husabnd said he's had better Thai. The atmosphere feels a bit sterile. Service is nice and attentive, although appeared somewhat confused at times. The only reason I returned here was because it was suggested by others, but it is definitely not a place I would seek out on my own. read more

This place is a hidden gem! The sushi is fantastic and I will be coming here every time I visit my parents in MD. I got the chicken dumplings which comes in a spinach wrap, crispy wontons, and 2 of the Anniversary rolls (the one with old bay seasoning was my favorite!) So good and I can't wait to come back for more! I definitely recommend this place over Yamato Sushi in Timonium....Green Leaf has a nicer dining area than Yamato and the customer service is better. read more

Had high hopes for this place especially given the glowing reviews, but unfortunately was sorely disappointed. Everything is fried in Tempura batter and is either tossed in a sweet chili sauce or it comes with sweet chili sauce in the side. The calamari was limp and unappetizing. And the Thai chili crab soup was a slip of crushed tomato with some crab tossed in . Almost like an Italian tomato based dish. What took the cake however was the Crispy Fish with pine nuts . It literally was five cubes of fish tempura fried with a few scattered pine nuts in the plate with a dipping sauce which was the same sweet chili sauce they served the Calamari with only heated. The prices do not justify the portions or the quAlity of food. Very disappointed. Maybe their sushi is better but after that experience I wouldn't risk it especially given the numerous other restaurants down the York corridor. read more

My mom and I come here for their lunch specials/bento boxes which are all under $10. And we always need a box for the leftovers! Their service is quick and friendly, and the food is consistent. We haven't tried their special rolls yet, but during lunch time, we always see the staff out sitting in the dining area, preparing all the fresh veggies or handmaking dumplings from scratch for their dinner rush. We've been visiting this place for years and I've never had a bad experience. The food is delicious and the wait staff is very attentive. We like to have our dinner a the Sushi Bar and enjoy talking with the chef's. This is one of the few places I will eat Sushi and they always explain what they are making and a couple of times they have given us a special treat to try out. This was my second trip to Green Leaf and it was as good as the first. The summer rolls were full, the filling fresh and crunchy and the lime chili dipping sauce was nothing short of sensational. Not spicy hot but a nice blend of flavors. For the entee I had the mint lime noodles with shrimp and mango. Light, flavorful, with ample amounts of tail- on shrimp and sliced mango. Nice presentation, great taste. I could eat this everyday. The red bean ice cream is a must try- it is truly amazing. The prices are moderate, the service is good, the food is delicious. We were starving when we arrived for lunch. The atmosphere is very cold and lacking any charm whatsoever. The food came quickly, but it was unappealing from the start. The standard Japanese Salad with Ginger dressing was very plain and tasteless. The chicken dumplings (Gyoza) were fine, but greasy, and came with a sweet and sour sauce, instead of the standard Gyoza Ponzu dipping sauce. I then had the chicken pad Thai. The waiter told me that it was their best noodle dish. It was so foul that I gagged on the first bite!! I tried a piece of chicken and it was equally distasteful, rubbery and gross. It was slimy and sweet and inedible. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I don't understand the hype. Although maybe the sushi is good, we didn't order any. Ordered the crispy eggplant entree. This consisted of tasteless tempura eggplant with a wad of rice, and a bowl of sauce on the side. No other vegetables, no melding of any flavors, it was really just eggplant tempura. They should label it as such. We also ordered a shrimp dish and the sauce tasted of ketchup. The third entree, Singapore Noodles, reminded me of McCormick's curry powder with a few slivers of vegetables. Everything was blah. We also sent back this strangely off tasting "mango tea". They still made us pay for one. Bottom line, stick with the sushi (although I cannot vouch for it), or go somewhere else. read more

It's very sad that the management appear to discriminate against Asian, their our kind. As we walked in, they were staring at us with no greeting, like deer staring at head-lights. then the four of us adult were sat all the way to a corner against the wall to a small table for four. We asked if we can sit in a larger table to have a little more knowing we were early and there's no other customer. We were the only table there before 6 pm. Instead, the lady told us that the all other larger tables have been reserved. Later with great hesitation, she moved a smaller table over to make more room for us and without saying a single word to us and walked away. it was obvious to us that she wasn't happy at all. Overall, we did enjoyed our meal and the waitress's service. However, the management need to look into the mirror and see them self. I can't imagine if this happened to another people. Very sad and such a shame. We will take our business to a more professional establishment that don't discriminate. read more
