A place that serves a home cooked breakfast all day is a place for me. This is my second visit to the diner on the corner. The inside is clean and relaxing servers are wonderful. We did have to wait to place our order, no harm we were not in a rush. Breakfast at 4 pm on Sunday was a total hit. A party of 3 2 breakfast orders 1 burger Coffee 2 Italian sodas =. Dine at this Diner! Oh my goodness, the fried oysters are a MUST order!!! These were sooo delicious, moist and crispy. Wonderful flavor and fresh local oysters. The Hawk's nest was delicious! Crispy hash browns, sauteed spinach, onions and sausage w/ poached eggs and subtle hollandaise sauce. Such a flavorful dish and hardy! The Fish & Chips was also worth trying. Just another overpriced tourist trap grease pit! First off we got a sticker shock from the over priced food. Most everything was in the neighborhood of $20! Could of gone elsewhere for less. The food, besides being over priced, was very much unappetizing when it arrived. Everything looked gross. On our first bite we knew we got doup. The burger was tasteless and greasy. We came here to finish the weekend off before we hit the road. The staff was excellent and the food wasn't so bad either. Both items came out hot and delicious. I did ask for jalapeños on my scramble and didn't receive them, but it wasn't a big deal and I didn't mention it to anyone. It was a hot day in July. Long sunny summer days extended our meal times and we asked the gal at the Maritime Museum who pointed us to this Diner. It was closing soon but they were kind to feed us. There were burgers, breakfast plates, meat balls and sandwiches ordered. I had the 2-piece Cod fish n chips. It was quite good and I would order it again. I also had the meatball appetizer which I'll very likely have on another visit, especially when cold weather prevails. That'll be perfect for that time of year. We had been on Bainbridge looking around but didn't stop for a meal. Instead we decided to stop by Poulsbo while we were out and found the Green Light Diner. I'm a sucker for any place with an all day breakfast. After all, "...breakfast rated just after life itself and ahead of the chance of immortality." (Heinlein). We were seated very quickly, probably because it was almost 1400 and we missed the lunch crowd. Drink orders were taken quickly but a friendly server. For our late afternoon eats we settled on fried oysters with eggs and the hungry Viking breakfast plate. The food was exactly what you expect from a diner: toasty hashbrowns, good sausage gravy, crispy bacon, fried ham steak, etc. In the end I was defeated by the amount of gravy. We love Green Light but today has been an unfortunate exception. The service itself is usually wonderful, always clean and bright and friendly and the food the tasty... but my 3 stars is because we waited over 45 minutes for our lunch (for 2 people) after being one of the only people in the restaurant. I felt very much like they forgot about us ... not a super big deal for me, but my 5 year old was super hungry and we probably would have gone elsewhere if we'd known the wait was going to be so long. They were very nice and said they checked on our food multiple times and said there was a shift change for dinner in the kitchen so some stuff was running behind. I totally get it, but because we had only 2 hours to spend in Poulsbo before I need to head back home to Lakewood, we don't get to do much else after we finish eating, which is disappointing since we love the shops up here. Our food was pretty good. My daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese, my sandwich was fine... I was so hungry by the time it reached us that I ate the first half entirely too fast. haha. It's sat before Fathers day. Drove into town and found a spot right away to park. Now a place to eat! Found this place right away. We got a pager and wandered around. Wasn't long. We order onion rings for starters. Wow they were yummy. I had BLT and chowder, daughter had soup and salad, hubby had Chz burger. Very happy with service. Well we came back for breakfast! 40 min wait cause of Fathers Day. But I dropped them off and circled around looking for parking. Voila.. found one way away. But I'm parked ! Went on a Sunday morning and was told by the hostess it would be 30 to 40 minutes for a table. While we were waiting she told us that even though there were empty tables the kitchen wanted her to wait at least 30 minutes before she sat a party. After our 30 minute wait we were seated and the waitress came over quickly to take our drink and breakfast order. I had the hawk's nest. I like hash browns so couldn't be to bad of a dish. The poached eggs were cooked well, runny yolk and firm whites. Over all the dish had good flavor. I liked the bearnaise sauce that was on the eggs. Would order that again but there are more things to try on the menu. The diner has that casual feel about it and isn't to loud inside. On nice days they have a small outdoor seating area. I guess the 30 minute wait so the kitchen wouldn't be backed up was ok as our food came out after a short wait. read more

Young female server was bad at the job spilled coffee all over the table while pouring and didnt wipe it up because she wasnt paying attention to what she was doing she was too distracted with her friends sitting to the table next to us. The place is 50's style cute. Staff friendly. Arrived around ten on a Saturday. It ends there. Even not being full the first thing we noticed after being sat was it was very loud. Food was meh. I had corn beef hash which I order out regularly and it was the worse I have ever had. Over salted and still tasteless. My husband had scrambled eggs and bacon and couldn't eat the eggs. This is a red light! Red flag! Do not go to Green light diner... Is possibly the worst food I've ever had in my life. $21 for swedish meatballs. You get four tiny swedish meatballs, noodles with nothing on it and 2 tbsp of gravy with some sort of sauteed spinach that that was half cooked. The salad was horrible. Dark greens not cut up. I couldn't even chew them. My daughter's plate was a burned hamburger that was completely burned bun, it was a pre-made burger patty that was so thin, they incinerated it. I knew something was wrong when she said it was. She couldn't even eat it. So we mentioned it to the waitress and she did take it off and some of mine off because she goes on to say oh we're out of gravy. Well then don't sell swedish meatballs. And they didn't taste swedish by the way. Here's what was okay, the side of fries and the diet Coke. And the Caesar salad dressing smelled like fish... The place is adorable, it's very clean and attractive but they need to read about what diner food is and bring down the prices to match what you're giving people because it's very little crap for very big prices... We stopped by on a Saturday night and they were hopping. Other than having to flag down our server once, we were happy with the service, understandung thaf food for 5 takes longer. We ordered.... -The Hungry Viking which featured a pile of breakfast favorites. Under a huge slab of ham were biscuits and gravy as well as hashbrowns. The bacon on the side was crisp and tasty. It's a HEARTY meal and we were happy to see that breakfast is served all day! -Steakhouse burger- yummy with grilled onions and mushrooms -Reuben sandwich- delicious pastrami --on rye bread that was a bit strong for my palette, but my mom liked it. It had the right blend of melted cheese and sourkraut. -Turkey melt was the surprise favorite! Chunks of moist roast turkey were smothered in carmelozed onions and melted cheese on goooood sourdough bread. We were able to sit at one of their two tables outside, under a toasty heating lamp, with a view of the bustling street outside. We ordered the deluxe breakfast sandwich with a side of hash browns. I liked that you could specify the bread for your sandwich, and I went with rye. It was a light rye, with a hint of caraway, which complemented the warm egg, bacon, and melty cheese. Absolutely LOVE Green Light Diner! We came for breakfast on Saturday morning: bestie, me, 2 kids. We were seated right away and our server came for our drink order very quickly. It took the kids a little bit to decide on what they wanted to eat, but there were plenty of options on the kids' menu. They finally decided on chicken nuggets, and pancakes. They each got hot chocolates, which were practically overflowing! My bestie got the eggs Benedict sub gravy for hollandaise and I got the Hawks nest. I'm usually not a bearnaise fan because most places it tastes old and the acidity isn't balanced. Not at Green Light Diner! The bearnaise was fresh, perfectly balanced and went great with the spinach and hashbrowns. My only complaint is one of my eggs was slightly over and soft boiled rather than poached. My bestie loved hers. My daughter couldn't finish her pancakes and eggs so we took those to go. This is definitely one of our go-to breakfast places. The service was wonderful despite the service rush of the weekend crowds, but expect a long wait on the weekends- it's a popular place and rightfully so! Was susposed to have SPAM in the scramble but none was found. scrambled Eggs were a little mooshy. Waffle had a sweet flavor to it. Biscuits and gravy combo was a let down. Biscuits were hard and crunchy, either overcooked or left over from the day before. Gravy was way to thick and like I said before, had a peculiar taste. Eggs were ordered over medium. Egg whites not completely cooked, still had that slime in the center (should of been left on the grill longer). Bacon was okay. The staff here is super nice! It's a diner, it's diner food, if you're hungry and want to be filled, this is the spot in downtown PB... the breakfast potatoes are delish so is the biscuits an gravy! Oh the B&G! Yum! I'm not even hungry but tempted to go get some right now! They also have a fun ambiance, kids and adults alike can enjoy the pictures and memorabilia of old Coke a cola advertisements etc... and the soda fountain bar is fun too! Great for a mom an kid date! They also have a small covered outdoor seating area, and it's on the edge of the main drag so you can park and walk here from anywhere. Downtown PB is really small. Unless you're disabled getting around here is easy. Not to say there isn't disabled parking or ADA entry, that is available too! Just saying if you can walk a 1/2 mile without assistance, you can easily walk all of downtown PB. read more

This is a cute diner that was recommended to us at the bakery. We were able to sit on the patio which was quieter than the inside. Be prepared not to be in a hurry. Pleasantly surprised at the delicious food served here. We had breakfast here on a Sunday. After a short wait we were seated. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Coffee was served hot, strong and flavorful. All our breakfast entrees were good but the hashbrowns were outstanding. By far the best we've ever had, flavorful, crispy, hot and delicious. The diner itself is clean, nostalgic with 1950's decor and a soda fountain, and you can tell the owners put a lot of thought in to the guest experience. The food is spot on- guaranteed delicious comfort food. It's not vegan or very vegetarian friendly with their non-breakfast menu though. Super baby friendly. We bought a stroller which fit at a table. The bathrooms are spacious enough to bring a stroller in and it has changing stations. The staff is so nice and generous. We will def be back! read more

I feel like this place is a solid 3.5, but because I can't do half stars, and a few reasons I'm going with a 3, instead of a 4. The set up and decor is very cute, very much the classic 50 diner vibe. The tables and overall vibe is a little worn and not as fresh as it probably was 10 years ago. Our table had to be wiped down before we sat down, and some food was still on the seat of the booth when i sat down. I had been thinking that this is forgivable, as it felt like when we walked in, there was only one server working. We found out as we dined that there were other employees, but she pretty much was the only one of them working. (And she did great). Menu was diverse and a huge thumbs up for all day breakfast. It took quite a long time to get our food after ordering. My sister-in-law didn't get her side salad till after she finished her main course, and that was after she asked for it. It's diner grub. I had a sandwich with fries, which I thought was pretty good. But others in my group got burgers, mac and cheese and stroganoff. At the time they all were hungry and didn't have complaints, but since their commentary about their meal has been that the food was just "meh". It wasn't bad food, but it wasn't good either in their opinion. I tried a bite of the mac and cheese, and thought it was ok, a little salty. The biggest reason it is a 3 star vs 4 star, is that the overall opinion of my group is that they won't be going back to this restaurant again. read more

This is my second time here. Last time, we came with friends who are somewhat regulars. We had breakfast and were impressed. This time, there were several factors that left us less-than-impressed. First, it was super cold in the space. AND, both ceiling fans were running. Now,I appreciate fresh air but it was freezing. Second, it took a super long time for us to get our food. There seemed to be plenty of wait-staff in the house, but I can't speak for that back. It wasn't that crowded, we weren't there during a peak time and we really weren't ordering anything that complicated, you'd think. I ordered the chili and salad combo. Even though I ordered the "mini" size of each, the salad portion was generous, fresh and crisp. The small cup of chili that came with it was hot and flavorful...but it was probably 80% beans -- I came to regret that later; the whole rest of the day, I felt bloated and over-full. Hubby made the right decision, however. He ordered the corned beef and hash. If you've read ANY of my breakfast reviews, you know we are always on the lookout for THE best hash. I have to tell you, this one wins for "Best Corned Beef of Kitsap Peninsula" (so far!). The chunks of beef were legit -- tasty, solid and with a great spice level. The potatoes were also small dice, but cooked perfectly and complimented the corned beef. And, THAT was it! Meat/Potatoes. But, it was really well done, as I said, this was REAL corned beef and I wish I'd gone that way instead of a lunch option since breakfast is served all day!
