I ordered one of the Lunch Sushi specials. Too bad they did not allow any substitutions. My salad was good, but a bit watery. The sushi was good, but not great. All in all, given that I'm in Bangor, I'm satisfied and will probably come back when I'm in town again. The atmosphere/decor/cleanliness is alright. It is definitely nicer than some Japanese Restaurants I have been to. The service wasn't spectacular. I ran out of water and had to flag down a different waitress because mine was nowhere to be found. Just ordered from them for the first time. I did it online for pick up which is great right now. The downside to their online ordering is you can't pay online. I got (3) salmon sushi, red tail sushi, mackerel sushi, fatty salmon sushi, and fried shumai. I was a bit worried when I noticed they have farmed salmon but it was so fresh I could barely tell the difference! Trust me, if you knew me you would know how rare this is lol! Both the fatty and regular salmon sushi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and I HIGHLY recommend it. The red tail was good there was a bit of what I believe was soy sauce in the tray and the rice absorbed it which threw off the taste a bit but it wasn't overwhelming and I will definitely be ordering it again. The mackerel is mackerel ‍ it was thickly sliced which was weird and too salty to have that soy sauce add to it. It was my first try at mackerel because they were out of striped bass so for all I know that's normal. The shumai. The shumai...good cook, poor mix. I have never had shumai with a tiny piece of shrimp per dumpling before. Literally just one! In each dumpling! If you don't mind that I would say go for it because, again, good cook. All that came out to a total of $27.49 which is a great deal. They also gave me a $2.50 off coupon for another visit valid from 7/26-8/10 hahaha to make up for lack of striped bass. read more

Hair in my sushi!!...This was my first visit to the restaurant and it was beyond disappointing. I ordered the Kiss of Fire sushi roll. When I bit into the first piece there was a hair. I spit it into my napkin and then notice on the piece next to it there was a black hair hanging off the tail of the shrimp tempura! I went to pull it off and the hair was INSIDE the roll and I actually picked the roll up by the hair and dangled it for the waitress. She didn't seem to understand what I was showing her and only asked. "Would you like another one?" It was laughable and NO ONE came to apologize to us. Our server's language barriers could have been a factor in her apparent indifference but a manager should've come to our table. They removed my sushi from our bill but I didnt eat it, so that wasn't a consolation. I'm not sure what left a bad taste in my mouth more, the hair filled sushi or the unapologetic staff/management. read more

Absolutely delicious! Freshly cooked also! The calamari was the best I've ever had and the dragon roll was awesome. The only reason why it's not five stars is because of the service. The waiter took forever to take our order..and did not refill our drinks. I actually had to look for him to tell him we wanted dessert. I've wanted to check this place out for a while. Cool exterior seemed fun and inviting. I arrived around 8:30pm on Monday of Presidents Day weekend so it was lightly but adequately staffed. I was t familiar with the flow of the restaurant. No one was at hostess station and I had to look for staff. I was advised to order take out I'd have to go to the desk past the bar. I found the two maki combo with miso soup quickly and I was shortly on my way. Food was fine for the price but the staff were probably wrapping up their day. They didn't look up with a smile and before I could even look up to thank them for my food he was on his way talking with another staff member. I give the food 4 stars and service 3 stars read more

This is where you go if you want great sushi that is almost to beautiful to eat. The prices are great and the service is consistent. I have never had a server who had a personality. However, they know how to do their job..( being quick on return, filling drinks, and taking dirty plates off the table). The only advice that I have to give is go for the hard alcohol instead of beer. The group that I went with was a party of 5 and I got a draft Bud Light that was very very stale and my boyfriend got a Budweiser that was skunky, our server spoke very little English so I neglected to say something, I should of spoke up so they would stop serving the beer we bought, but we were having such a good time I did not want to whine about something petty. read more

Had lunch today. Very ordinary... and Expensive. Started with Miso soup; Nothing but salty water. Had a Fresh Spring Roll; Actually would have been OK, but drenched in salad dressing of some sort. House salad; Watery ginger covered mess. Green Tea; Had to send back twice as it was lukewarm. Teriyaki Beef; Over-sauced warm meat on top of under cooked veggies piled on a fajita plate. Had to dig holes for the meat so it would warm up on the plate. Lastly; Our waitress appeared to have not changed her apron for a while. Very dirty and covered with grease spots. Having lived in the Boston and Portland area, it was sort of a culture shock arriving in Bangor. It's hard to find any good ethnic food here. While I wouldn't call Green Tea authentic, it never disappoints. It's my favorite Asian restaurant in the Bangor area. I've taken friends and family here and they have all enjoyed the food (and the scorpion bowls too). Although others may think the decor is tacky, I like their attention to detail. I also love the soundtrack they play. Overall, we always leave Green Tea happy because of the great customer service and food. read more

This place surprised us. The food was delicious. We had the sexy jalapeños, sashimi, and the spicy king pao chicken. ALL GREAT! The jalapeños were fresh and so was the chicken. Food is always great and portions are good. The prices on the sushi are better then the other sushi bars in our area. My only issue would be that often they have issues with service. I mostly do take-out from Green Tea. They have inventive fusion appetizers (the sexy jalapeno for example) and sushi rolls (maki rolls). My boyfriend and I always go here whenever he visits me at school. You get a ridiculous amount of food for the price and they have all kinds of crazy sushi creations. I don't know how authentic it is, but I don't care because it's delicious! The atmosphere is nice and the servers are attentive and friendly, although the restaurant tends to be understaffed. I don't really mind though because the food is always fresh and artfully presented. I also like that they have both a Chinese and a Japanese menu. My only real complaint is that there is a huge gap between the booth seats and the table so I have to sit perched on the edge of my seat! Green Tea is an amazing restaurant for anyone who loves Chinese themed food. I think the best food they have is the sea urchin sushi. It doesn't taste fishy, it has a nice creamy texture, and tastes like the sea. It tastes amazing with wasabi on top. If you think that that sounds great, you should try their coconut shrimp. The way they make it is beyond words. It has a nice crunchy shell topped with a kinda sweet coconut sauce. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes shrimp. I came here with my family, and they found their sushi absolutely wonderful. I love this restaurant for everything they have. The only down side to about it to me is how pricy the foods are. For example, my coconut shrimp was about 11.95, give or take. But that just means that you pay for higher quality food. Again, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food. read more

So I tried full true sushi for the first time. Was with a friend who knew all about the dishes. This was outstanding and will go many more times. My friend is from NY city and travels extensively. We've found that the place his hit or miss. The sushi is fantastic, but what we ordered tonight was awful. The pad Thai was way over cooked, to the point where the noodles were all mushed together and had an unreal amount of onions, and the sweet and sour chicken was really soggy. Ok, why I continue to try Japanese in Bangor is a mystery! In this case I took my Japanese mother to get sushi. (We we're going to try Kashi but they were closed) Waitress was very pleasant but I think new. The wait was close to an hour which was not good. Ok, you'd think that a restaurant named Green Tea would actually have GREEN TEA! No, they serve what they call green tea, but it's Jasmine tea, and for most Asians it's like calling Coke, Pepsi! My mom liked the tuna, but the other sushi was served mildly warm..."not good" in her words, "sushi should be refreshingly cold"! She was disappointed about not having authentic green tea with the sushi. She's very frugal and doesn't get sushi very often so I think she was a bit easy on her review! I had Katsudon bento box which was a mistake, but to be honest I haven't had good katsudon since I left Japan! We both determined that we wouldn't go back, but for the average person that's never had true Japanese food, it's okay. read more
